Thanks for the advice, we are going in May to Odyssey OTS and have a 3-night pre-stay in Rome. Seems like it's going to be a fun time.
Definitely! We really enjoyed this trip and our time in Rome. There is so much to do and see. Let us know how it goes! Have fun and thanks for watching.
Okay, you guys convinced me. I'm going! 😂 Can't wait to hear about your trip from Barcelona on Symphony. Thanks for the great information and advice.
Yes! Do it!
Thank you so much for watching. We can’t wait for the Barcelona trip, we have a lot of planning to do and not a lot of time to do it.
Our flight out of JFK was 5 1/2 hours delayed so we got to Rome later than expected. We still have time to do the Vatican and Trevi fountain and we saw the Colosseum the next morning but everyone should stay the day your cruise gets back. We left the port at 9:30 AM for the airport and our flight was not till 5 PM so that’s a long wait at the airport when you could be sightseeing in Rome.
Completely agree on staying an extra day. We did that on our trip as well. Allowed us to have another day in Rome to explore and we didn’t have to rush to the airport and just sit there.
We have it planned similarly for our trip to Barcelona in October. Gives us a day to explore the gothic quarter and hopefully find a good restaurant to try.
We just got back on Sunday from the same cruise. We had different shows. We also had a lame magician. I generally do not like magicians anyway. And the big show was called the book and that was cheesy and we left. Wasn’t impressed with many of the shows. I was shocked at how much bingo was. We paid $60 for four of us to play. If I could do it over, I would book dinner at a specific time, rather than my time dining, because some of the servers we encountered were not the best and when you have your own table with the same server every night, he gets to know you. Overall a good time. Thanks for your videos.
The magician, Jamie Allen, is so lame :) lol
I fell asleep during the book during our sailing.
We haven’t done bingo since our cruise aboard Oasis in 2019 due to how expensive it felt. Maybe one day we’ll do it again, but probably not anytime soon.
I can see how a specific time would allow you to have a consistent service with your server. This is sort of what we had by eating at coastal kitchen each night. We knew our server and he knew what our preferences were.
Glad y’all had a great time. And thank you again for watching.
Yeah can I hear more about Jamie Allen? 😂😂😂
Lol. The worst stage over the top magician with the lamest tricks. I’ll show you his big finish the next time I see you.
Would you recommend the Hive hotel ? Is it walkable to all the sights ?
Yes we definitely recommend it. The hotel is an 18 min walk to the colosseum, 18 min walk to the trevi fountain, 22 min walk to the Spanish steps, 54 min walk to St Peter’s Square, 25 min walk to the Pantheon.
We pretty much walked all over the archeological area of Rome from the Hive Hotel.
Thank you for watching!
I know you all only did Izumi, but have you all done Wonderland before on other sailings? What are your thoughts on that restaurant? Did you all like?
We tried Wonderland on Wonder of the Seas in March of 2022.
Now, I wasn’t the biggest fan of it, but it’s probably something that you should try if you like unique food and unique experiences. I don’t regret trying it but the food was just weird and we didn’t have a choice in what we ordered. Nicole liked it way more than I did. If you do try it be mindful the mad hatter does make visits to the tables and he’s mischievous.
We reviewed it on our wonder of the seas food video.
