Love your videos!! You inspired us to book this cruise!! Going this July! Questions about Santorini. You mention the line was very long for the cable cars back to the ship from Fira. What time were you in port? Were there other ships still in port at the same time you were leaving? What time did you start your journey back that you only had 45 mins? And what time was your all aboard time?
First off, thank you for the compliment! You’re going to have an amazing time on this cruise.
1- we were in port from 1p to 11p
2- Rhapsody of the Seas was in port with us. They were in port until 9pm with a last tender around 8:15p
3- we were walking around Fira around 8:30-9:00pm when we were deciding to go back to the ship and saw the long line at the cable cars.
4- the last tender back to Odyssey was at 10:15pm

We were coming back to the ship around 830pm. The line for the cable car wrapped around the shops in the city of Fira. It went from the cable car station, and snaked it’s way around the upper portion of town. It was pretty long. I’m sure the ship wouldn’t leave without all those people if it took long but we didn’t feel like waiting or testing that theory so we took the mule trail down.

Hi all, great video, a lot of new info for me. I was wondering if that night dinner you can´t reach the main dinning room, as was too late. I am going to take it by the end of July, so excited!
We got to Coastal Kitchen about 30 mins before they were scheduled to close. We made sure to tip our server for staying a bit longer. After that we met our friends in the Windjammer as the windjammer was open a bit later.

What time would you suggest getting back to cable cars if cruise boat is leaving at 11 pm ( so last tether is 10 pm ) ?❤
We were at the cable car station at 830pm. We decided to take the mule trail and were on the tender back to the boat around 9-915.
830 pm would be our suggestion so you have time to get down the hill and to the tender.

We got in line at 8am, we received group 7 for our tender ticket and Our number was called around 1:20pm

So We will be on ship this August (2024) please excuse my ignorance.. if I am not certain when I'll get off ship how can I make plans for excursions?
Do they have a health screening before getting on board?
There are questions you answer in the app but no covid testing or anything like that required at the port.

On this cruise we booked 3 excursions
1- Santorini highlights - through the shore excursions group website
2- Ancient Ephesus - directly through Royal Caribbean
3- Pompeii - directly through Royal Caribbean
What time was the last boarding to get on the tender boats back to the ship?
The last tender back to the ship was at 10:15pm

Where do you go for tender tickets? Is it announced the day before? We are new to cruising. Thank you
On this ship, the tender ticket location is the music hall; which is in the esplanade. They put a flyer in your stateroom the night before that explains the process. The cruise director will also talk about it after the shows and on the cruise director tv channel. But if you’re on odyssey it’ll be the music hall.
So if you book an excursion through the cruise, do you not need to worry about the tender boat ticket?
Nope, on your excursion ticket it’ll give you a time to go to the Royal Theater or the 270 lounge and they’ll escort you to the tender boat without a separate ticket being needed for the tender. Essentially your excursion ticket is your tender ticket. Your excursion tickets will be in your stateroom at check in.
Was this excursion worth the money?
Yes, definitely. There’s always something you wish you could have done or have stayed in a particular place longer, but this excursion gave us a great mix of things to do in Santorini while checking several areas of the island. We enjoyed it and have no regrets about booking it.
Make sure you get the baklava from the family bakery 😋
what car service did you use?
Most of the cars were arranged by the hotels we stayed at. So I don’t know what company, we simply asked the hotel to arrange pick up or drop off and a car was waiting. When we did book our own taxi or black car we used the Uber app as it gives you the option to book the city taxis or black car services.

Some cruise lines are doing more and more single occupancy cabins wouldn’t surprise me if Royal did the same when they replace their smaller ships.
It’s pretty arrogant to say you didn’t have a great experience using the mule trail, when YOU didn’t give yourself time to take the cable cars. Which btw are not 5-10 mins on the car to the top. Maybe 3mins.

I don’t believe there is any arrogance, We were on an excursion on Santorini that was a tour of the island. When we arrived back in Fira that is when the excursion ended, we didn’t have the ability to give ourselves more time for the cable car unless we were to select a different excursion. This excursion had a guaranteed return and was what we wanted to do while we were in port. The mule trail was slippery and steep which wasn’t the easiest walk down and I am uncomfortable around horses which made it nerve-racking. It’s a dumb thing to be uncomfortable about but hey it happens.
I’m not sure why Nicole said 5-10 minutes and I missed it during the editing process maybe she meant from when we sat down in the cable car and everyone loaded up to when we stepped out at the top of the hill, cause that total time according to the timestamps on my phone is about 5 mins. I don’t know but good catch.
