    Certain melodic abominations notwithstanding, I DIG the striptease/dirty feel of this version. And that second section of harmonic breakout (the layers of "Heavy, heavy, HEAVYYYYY") spectacularly nail the brilliance of that chord's structure.
    I always thought the visuals of the spinning record and bed in the movie were really the perfect choice for the whole pimpy vibe of this incarnation.
    And Dianne Steinberg and her ladies take me over the top... Thank you for keeping this version alive!

      It was a combo of really bad timing, their respect for the Beatles and their fears of overexposure. Unfortunately, their worst fears were realized. The Bee Gees were criticized early in their career as being Beatles knock-offs, and this just cemented that in the minds of their haters. It was just the wrong project at the wrong time with all the wrong people attached to it. They ended up suing RSO Records and the late Sir Robert Stigwood not long afterwards.
      Most of the Beatles were pretty cool about the Bee Gees covering their songs, although I suspect John Lennon probably regretted giving Maurice Gibb his first drink :)

When I discovered Abbey Road years later, I realized how much *better* the original version of this (and everything, really) was. Even so, I have a nostalgic fondness for the film and the soundtrack. Aerosmith rocked "Come Together", but really - everything else was pale in comparison to the original recordings.

    Good God almighty 😵 Sounds like something from a cheap porno. Just ghastly. Now where's that Abbey Road CD so I can hear it done properly?

      The guitars and drums are better here. You can't deny it.

    This song could have only come out in 1978. God only knows the amount of cocaine and booze that made The Bee Gees think that this would be good.

    One fun track on what is honestly one of the worst movies ever made.
    (And please don't conflate what an amazing song this is with this cheap, lazy cover.)

    The writers of this flick must not listen to they're albums. On my original album it's titled "she's so" not I want you!

    This idea that actors who can't sing should be allowed to recite the lyrics "dramatically" needs to be _STAMPED the hell OUT!_ This really isn't a bad cover, considering it's the ultimate disco band doing the ultimate proto-metal song, but that initial "vocal" by whoever-he-is (I don't care) is fucking cringeworthy, and prevents me from giving this cover an otherwise-deserved thumbs up.

      @ashleyh5661 Před 9 lety +3

      I guess, if you wanna follow the crowd. I agree, the storyline is just terrible, but seeing the bee gees and frampton together is still pretty cool, at least for a music geek like me lol

    • @ashleyh5661
      @ashleyh5661 Před 9 lety +2

      And also, I think we can both agree that movie was probably most entertaining for stoners, which there were a lot of them back then lol

    • @BenCulture
      @BenCulture Před 9 lety +1

      Ashley Hart Sure. There are a lot of movies that were good in their day, but they don't entirely hold up to the test of time. I recently watched the two _Ghostbusters_ movies, and they don't _suck;_ I would never say that! but I was a bit perplexed, wondering why it had been such a hit when I was a kid. It was amusing, but not LOL funny. Of course, in the 80s there were a lot of people on cocaine, and still plenty of potheads, so there's that, plus, they were going for a PG rating before PG-13 existed, which I think kinda limited them. They're still good, but not as good as I remembered.

    I see how this movie was such a flop. How can anyone have the audacity to think they can rework the beatles? This phrasing is so corny.
