Sit back and let the evening go with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the 1978 musical spectacular featuring stunning reinterpretations of over twenty classic Beatles songs!
The one and only Billy Shears (multi-platinum recording artist Peter Frampton) and his best friends the Hendersons (Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Bee Gees) are four young men from the quaint little town of Heartland. With superstardom calling, this fabulous foursome leaves Heartland - and Billy's beloved Strawberry Fields (Sandy Farina) - vulnerable to mean Mr. Mustard, who steals Sgt. Pepper's magical instruments for a fiendish, "evil force that would poison young minds, pollute the environment, and subvert the democratic process." It's up to our heroes to save everything they hold dear with the power of music, kindness, and heart.

It just dawned on me that the reason I liked this movie as a wee youngster is because it looks like a movie-quality episode of the Krofft Supershow.
That is a remarkably astute observation!
This has always been my number 1 moive every since my grandpa showed me it at 5 years old and at 14 I'm still loving
I loved The Bee Gees! I seen this movie sooooo many times!!
The Bee Gees and Peter frampton!!!!!
Robin was absolutely gorgeous in this film. Especially in the black suit and green shirt ❤
This soundtrack has gone from a farce.... into a celebration of the Beatles music.
It's about time!❤
I don't care what anybody says. I love this freaking movie. Sandy Farina was gorgeous, the art direction was quirky and fascinating, AEROSMITH!! HELLO!?! It's just a butt load of goofy fun.
Les not forget Alice! 👹 lol. Love em all
@@denisem8957 Oh, man! AC was frickin' awesome..."Boo hoo." LOL

Agreed it is art all day.
I saw this movie when I was 12 years old with my older cousin. Introduced me to so much great music. I fell in love with Aerosmith at that very moment and have seen them 14 times since. This movie is epic and anyone who saw it in the theaters originally, need to show their children.
I think this movie S U C K S but I bought the soundtrack at 12 years old and it was my introduction to the music of the Fab Four. And "Come Together" by Aerosmith was one of the highest musical moments of the film.
Only 1 bee gee left 😞 heaven must be great now
Not stayin alive as much as they thought they were I guess

This movie carried me through rehabilitation in the 90s. They let me bring my vhs tape there.
Sandy Farina singing "StrawberryFields Forever" is phenomenal. Major crush.
I have LOVED this movie since I was in Middle School in the late 70's.
It was a movie shown to us and there was also a local brother/cousin band at the time that played Beatles music as impersonators.
Well, between my purchasing vinal Beatles records and the local band, a Beatles FAN was born!
Then, my middle school showed us this movie.
I no longer loved just the Beatles, but also Peter Frampton!!
Still a fan of Beatles music, but I just adore Peter Frampton.
I went to see this in the theater with my friend when was 11 and he was 10. We loved it so much we went to see it a second time. It turned me into a huge Beatles fan later as an adult. It will always hold a special place in my heart
I know a lot about this movie...I was very young then & Peter Frampton was like a Justin Bieber to most girls young & old. The 70s will always have a place in my 8 y.o heart😂🍓🤘🏼
But Bieber wasn't one of the greatest guitar players ever and an amazing songwriter... you know have talent.
Frampton is a great guitarist however
That was absolutely amazing! Loved Robins little solo❤❤❤
Who else saw this in theaters when it first came out?💝💝💝
i did when i was a child. blew my mind.
We saw it 14 times at our neighborhood theater.
We didn't even have to ask for tickets when we walked up to the box office. 2.90 a ticket. :)
I seen this and Jesus Christ Superstar about a zillion times. Let the haters hate...i had and still have a blast with this
I saw this when I was 11.
The entire school was in the cinema.
Kids nearly blowed up.
This is THE BEST MUSIC MOVIE ever made.
Me when I was 12
Great quality for 1978 👌
I really need a time machine....
You and me both
When the Bee Gee's came onstage, my Mom gasped "Oh my God! Who is that?" It was Barry Gibb.
Can't fault your Mom haha... Barry Gibb was an utterly gorgeous male specimen.
Bro i love this movie (especially peter frampton) xdd but seriously this movie is so amazing
this movie is so bad that I can't help but like it. and my favorite bands are in here playing my favorite beatles songs. even though aerosmith had absolutely no contribution to the plot, they were still by far my favorite part. i watched the movie just to see them; stephen tyler just has such a great stage presence
I loved this movie. Love the music ❤️ handsome men too
Good memories of this film, i was 12 years old back then. Never mind if the critics panned it 😃
I'm just so glad they made this movie!
It's a Time Capsule.
The lavishness, the sillyness, the excess & weirdness... that's the latter half of the 70's.
It also immortalized on film the Gibb Brothers as they're hitting the hyperspace of fame while Frampton unfortunately disappeared after this. ( Well, he was actually at his peak in '76 when he was signed up for the movie, and at that time with the monster album Frampton Comes Alive), but on his way down in '78 when movie was released. The Gibbs truthfully came out unscathed from this, because as both critics & Beatles fans condemned the movie, the release of the BEE GEES follow-up album to SNF, Spirits (Having Flown) in Jan. '79 was embraced by millions worldwide producing (3) No.1 Hits from a previous (3) from SNF.
The world just can't deny true talent and the universal appeal they project.
Barry said in an interview that he, Robin, and Maurice were kind of isolated when filming began, all sharing one trailer and not realizing the impact that Saturday Night Fever (both the movie and soundtrack) was having on the culture. Midway through the shoot they were given separate trailers, and during breaks he said you would hear the cast and crew were singing to their music. It must have been a surreal experience for them.
@@amymarckel420
Yes of course. They were busy filming inside the studio lot and had no idea how much impact the soundtrack was creating to the whole world. Mo' recounted one time during the shooting breaks, the dancers will stay at this covered hall, and when the peeped to see what's going on, they were all dancing to Stayin' Alive & Night Fever, and those were the early indicators to them that... "Hey, maybe is really something happening with those songs!"
I remember How Deep... being released in Sept 77 way before the soundtrack. Went to No.1 for the longest time even before we got a glimpse of the movies' trailer and I remember imagining the scenes the movie might have with the song in the background.
The subway ride of Tony with the song in the actual movie was in fact better that what I imagined. Also, the song stayed on top of the charts for an overwhelming 12 wks!😳 ...and became the timeless classic AND me & my wife's love theme song. ❤
Memories
ah, this cuts off right before frampton shows up---the last moments of peace before he and his overalls come to ruin my day.
Love the music from this show and absolutely love Billy Preston's dancing. Too bad it is not found any more on CZcams. Or at least, I can no longer find it.

@@pilargarridosoprano That shit is long gone.
They did it! They _really_ , _actually_ did it! This movie's on Blu-Ray? Insane!
The music was good, the rest was just...awful
Pretty much the music is the only audio in the film, except George Burns’ narration. Like Tommy and The Wall.
The only question is, why bother? The movie was shot in 70mm film, probably. It would have had to be artificially sharpened to mimic digital. Were people really clamoring to get Sgt. Pepper on Blu-Ray??
Also...Sgt. Pepper's on Blu-Ray and AMADEUS ISN'T???!!!!!
@@SarahB1863, exactly that.
@@SarahB1863 amadeus has been on blu-ray since 2009.

So adorable❤❤
For anyone that doesn't know or doesn't remember Hollywood BEGGED the Beatles to do this movie. The Beatles had broken up and wouldn't get back together, period. Robert Stigwood was on a roll, having just produced "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease". He got the best artists available at the time, and did the best he could. It was just a "the show must go on" situation. I've always liked this movie, I worked as an usher in a theater, we got I think right after "Grease".
Such great music.
Heard it was crap. But greatest cast of all time.
Just made my husband watch this movie... He wants a divorce now.
Lol
Haha nice one. Nothing wrong in the slightest with this scene though. Love watching the Bee Gees perform, so I hit the like button without hesitation.
this is my favorite movie ever :( this comment just made me cry :d :((
It's better stoned.
@@TheJeramieX, to each their own.
I will always love this movie. As a Beatles fan, I don't have any claim or trouble with it. The versions of Here Comes The Sun, Strawberry Fields Forever, Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight, and The Long And Winding Road are always on my rotation lists.
I still love you Paul!❤❤❤
I remember swing this as a young kid at the cinema with my older sister. Now I'm 50 lol. By far the best decade was the 70's
F*** that this movie rules
I am seeing Peter Frampton at the Hollywood Bowl soon, probably for his last time playing live. I don't know if I can keep my shit together through this concert.
Paul Nicholas was so cute!
Most beautiful disaster 😍
There hasn't been a "musical" movie this bad since Kiss meets the phantom of the park
Two words: Grease 2.
The world wasn’t ready then. Perhaps it is now.
that man is my favorite the entire movie anddddd Barry jeeeez
This must have been made at Universal studio's. I recognize that place anywhere.😃
0:11 Is that Cousin Kevin? Nice!
❤it it would have great if andy gibb was singing with his brothers and the lead actor
First and only time I have seen Robin play the guitar.
Maybe just faking. But this movie is the ONLY time I saw and heard Maurice in lead vocals, in "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite"
It’s so sad cause the opening’s pretty badass. After that though, it just descends into hell and never looks back.
Believe it or not there was a novelization of this that came out at the time. I read it, don't recall much, only that I liked it and wished the movie had been as interesting as it.
Could have been good, even with a thin plot, just so poorly executed
It takes a certain kind of taste to find this yummy, the kind that loves a bowl of The Shaggs with a side of Mrs Miller for breakfast. Inflicting this on someone is a delightful passive/aggressive good time. I originally watched it yonks ago loving The Beatles, crappy Stigwood productions, Aerosmith, and Alice Cooper.
If you like this sort of thing, you'd probably like _Grease 2_ (1982) and maybe _Sextette_ (1978). Cheeze with a side order of cheeze with extra cheeze on top.
I knew that they sang and the movie
Back in 1979 a man in a small Ohio town was convicted of spray painting graffiti on a town building. The judge gave the man a choice either he could do 6 months in jail or watch this movie twice. He did the 6 months
BTW Barry plays guitar and is playing bass guitar here, Maurice is a bassist and is playing Drums, Robin usually just sings......
A bazar movie but The Bee Gees and crampon made the movie
My mom actually doesn’t think this is a bad movie. She’s a bit disgruntled that this movie was received poorly.
I'm so glad Frampton FINALLY got the respect he deserves for writing the album. so ridiculous all the years how its been attributed to some other people.
Writing what album?
He certainly didn't get any respect for this fiasco. I remember at the time the rumors were that Frampton Comes Alive was doctored so much in the studio that it was "live" only in the sense that he wasn't dead. I don't know the truth about that. I do recall my first reaction to that album as it climbed the charts was "Who the F is Peter Frampton?"
@@fenian123 Frampton wrote Sgt. Peppers. Look it up! Why would he be the star of the movie otherwise?
@@setpunks13 The Beatles album? the song? what?
@@fenian123 the music from the movie. The album
I revere the Beatles.
If this film had been my introduction to the Beatles I think I would have hated them.
This and 'Yellow Submarine' WAS my introduction to the Beatles! But it actually made me really like them, because it made it current to me (I was 14 when Sgt. Pepper, the movie, came out.) If you'd played me actual Beatles music I wouldn't have been interested - would have said it was old peoples' music.
Not me. I saw this in the theater when I was 11 and loved it. It later turned me into a huge Beatles fan
Inexplicably, John Lennon reportedly liked this movie.
Shame this was a flop I enjoyed it
I enjoyed the covers and celebrity contributions, I'll say that. I'm more of a Yellow Submarine dude.
If you are looking for a musical with the Beatles songs, just watch across the universe. It’s not a dreadful pile of dog shit like this movie. It’s got great performances of good Beatles songs and has a solid story about the 60s and a group of friends that lived through it
Music was WAY better in that time
This is a Beatles song they're doing
George Martin reprised his role and produced the music in this movie, so it's pretty well done.
Fourth, I guess. I'm not sure why this comment section is so empty. Even if you don't like the movie, the song is OK.
Ok...
You know this is actually by the Beatles right?
I’m still confused on how The Bee Gees are in this movie
kinda sad the beatles weren’t in this, I still think they did a amazing job covering the song though.
At 0:46 my Mom says OMG! Who is that?? That was Barry Gibb.
Is* Barry Gibb is the only bee gee alive
I thought they'd destroyed all evidence of this film's existence!
Now it is no so terrible like before, critics were bad, not so bad today
Who out of this movie is still standing? Frampton gone. Strawberry Fields? Stigwood dead. BeeGees, almost gone. Aerosmith...stay tuned. When Steven's voice gets repaired, the bad boys are back.
This movie is so wretchedly awful that it almost has a certain campy charm to it.
The guy who played Dougie Sheers, also played in Jesus Christ Superstar
Yes, Paul Nicholas. His "Heaven on the Seventh Floor" is one of my favorites.
Seen that a billion times...who da thunk. Opera? Lol

Look, we'll put "The Bee Gees" and Peter Frampton in the movie, but they get ZERO lines! You hear me?! ZERO........LINES!
That was because they couldn't act and the movie was already in production. The Bee Gees & Frampton all knew the movie was going to be terrible but couldn't get out of it
TBF, it _is_ a rock opera with some spoken word by George Burns.
what were they thinking
Looks as if it was filmed in Disney World
It was filmed at Universal City Studios (probably the last movie to film there besides _The Nude Bomb_ .)

Its barry gibb bro
That's advanced slapping bro.
Get gud, noob.
I saw the movie when I was 18 in 1978. It stank then and it stinks now
Who ever thought this was a good idea?
Peter Frampton should have been able to sue the producers for putting him in those white overalls that are an exact replica of a pair I had in the '70s. They didn't look that great on me and I was a very cute 14-year-old girl (the only demographic that had any business wearing them.)
On a grown man they are truly tragic.
I rather seen andy gibb play the head part instead of peter frampton
Funny thing is this is only maybe the third worst movie connected to the Beatles
D Platt what are the other 2?
@@lolzfake1237 probably the ones they made.

This movie was so bad it was good. HaHa.
What a bizarre treatment... Maurice, who usually played bass, on the skins; Barry, who played guitar, on bass; Robin, who played nothing, on lead guitar; Peter, the hottest lead guitarist at the time, playing nothing. What?!? 🤔
Barry obviously never played a bass before
Robin could play guitar just not at a world class level. I think the only thing that dictated what anyone played or where they stood was what angle showed off their hair best. Poor balding Maurice got moved to the back while Barry and Robin's locks got center stage. They did both have great hair.
