I’m an old gun & I have trouble going in & out of prone, it’s very time consuming for me. Not to mention setting my bag & positioning my rifle each time.
After practicing this stage with a timer I’ve decided to skip the 1st two prone positions & shoot the three tips. That means I can get no more than 7 points if go down for the last prone position. Shooting this scenario I can get the 7 shots off in about 100sec.
Of course I have to let the RO/spotter know what I’m going to do & I have to hit the correct targets in the right order.
Congrats on a great finish at the Nationals. 👍

Yeah, this stage requires more movement than you think at first. Knowing your limitations and adapting your strategy is an important part of maximizing your score. I would recommend the following:
      1st tip - large, middle
      move to another tip
2nd tip - aim for the small target and take the shot - if you miss try to see which direction - if you hit then you know your wind call is good and engage the large and middle targets with the same wind call. You'll get called for "wrong position", but you know what your strategy is. Also, you'll already be set up on the tip that you need to shoot from.
Move to 3rd tip and repeat small, large, middle, but then go prone and engage the small target using the information gathered from the 2 "practice" shots on the small target from before.
      Best of luck!

I shot this COF last Sunday. The firing line was gravel so I wanted to use the prone mat. I placed the prone mat on the right side of the TT and dropped a second bag on the mat when I started. I shot left tip, prone mat, right tip, prone mat, center tip, prone mat. Shot standing on all of the tips and moved the TT bag to the next tip as I was going to the prone mat. Had 5 seconds left, worked out fine. If there would have been room to go prone on the left side as well as the right side I probably would have done that for the first tip. Having the prone mat allowed me to just belly flop with the rear bag already in position. I hit all of the prone shots but struggled on a couple of the TT shots getting the wind call.

Great suggestion with the second bag dedicated for the prone positions! I think in my upcoming match I might attach a gamechanger to my rifle and use a second bag for rear prone support to make the transitions a little faster. We'll see how it goes!

How do you make your little target sheet to practice on? Do you share that anywhere?

      It's pretty straightforward.
I have a video on how I make them here: czcams.com/video/wjxPaWntkoo/video.html
Each month I also make a set for 10, 15, 20, and 25 yards and make them available to Patreon members for as little as the $1/month subscription tier: www.patreon.com/posts/nrl22-july-2024-107156305
