@@HazaEgg that makes a lot of sense as your likely to be less dangerous on the road, but it's not really the best way of learning the way this fella on this channel explains things in a calmer way for me anyway means I actually understand how it works. E.g. When I was learning to drive I would stall quite a bit, my instructor would shout at me so instead of fixing it properly by using the clutch effectively I just started using more revs to fix the problem, only now watching this channels videos do I feel I understand how to use the clutch properly.

This guy really helped me learn manual in 2 days, and helped me get good at it within a few weeks. For anyone having a hard time just remember that it does get easier with practice and time. Just release the clutch nice and smooth and once you feel it bite apply a SMALL amount of gas to get you going. Best of luck to all the new Manual drivers

    • @ConquerDriving

@@ramzan.k9266 rev matching is matching the revolutions of the engine (or the engine speed) with that of the selected gear. So for example, when you shift down a gear, the lower gear spins faster and thus you would have to increase the engine speed to match with the gear speed or else the car will jerk. And when you shift up, the engine speed will have to be lowered, to match the speed of the higher gear which would be spinning slower. That's rev matching.

I started on a wacky car.. It was hard to get used to this car 'cuz the clutch was about 1-2 inches higher and is harder.. I had cramps in my thigh the day after 😅... My father used to tell me that no matter what you do, just listen to the engine.. I have theories about how to estimate the rpm but never have applied it to actual testing cuz the car was not in a good condition.. so after months of using that car I got used to it and by the time I got the chance to drive a new car.. things were so easy to control and applying the rpm theories, I wanna try for a long time.. seeing this video kinda solved some of my questions and never thought that it was this simple... Thanks ❤️💯

Hold the clutch at the bite untill you see the revs go up again. Then bring the clutch fully up. The quicker is to heal heel toe Rev match, but this is not something you should attempt as a leaner

tThanks for confirming a few things for me. Been driving my S2000 for some time and I naturally developed some of the skills that were mentioned in this video. I try and keep forward momentum when accelerating hard, but the downside is it does have some passenger thrown forward despite the shift being perfectly smooth at a wide open throttle acceleration.
Now I will only do that with me in the car only or on a track day. With passenger, I'll focus on that steady speed then shift.
Also confirming that clutch should be pushed down quickly as oppose to slowly, then off gas, and also the preparing of the hands, and clutch foot. There was a part of me that thought shifting smoothly might translate to slower clutch movement pressing down, but from experience I did find quicker clutch down leads to smoother shifts in general. The preparation aspect is also an important thing I was probably doing occasionally, but didn't realize it was that important.

Pushing the clutch sown quickly will help you shift smoothly. Try to reduce the gas a bit before you push the clutch down.

I know I'm blowing these videos up with comments, but I have an index card I write tips down on from your channel because there is a lot to remember. I erase tips and add new ones daily because I have found that reading the card before I take off puts simple ideas in my head like "prepare for a gear shift by placing hand and foot near shifter and clutch." I try to star the ones I'm having trouble with to keep those on my mind.

Hand position on the gear lever is very important for a quick, accurate change. With a standard 5 or 6 spring-loaded H pattern, palm to the left for selecting first and second. Extra insurance to prevent first to fourth. Palm to the right for fifth, and sixth if you have it. Don't just plop your hand palm down on the lever except for third and fourth. Make an art of it. Be skilful, stylish, and graceful. Caress that gear lever. Finally, if you remove the boot over the gear lever you may find that the joints at the bottom of the lever are often hard nylon plastic. They last longer than metal, but they can't take as much force. Be gentle.

Nice video, one thing that I find difficult to understand and hence to apply is giving gas before down-shifting...as far as I understand higher RPM means engine rotation is higher, that means it should be used when we have to speed up right? Isnt it then counter intuitive to raise rpm when you have to lower the gear??
