It should do 85, like a rapid direct. That makes it a LOT more threatening for something like pro deco or jet
Next to accessability issues, screen NEEDS to be semi-transparent for your team. I've never seen a special that can HINDER your own ENTIRE team.
the 'fuck everyone' special
An interesting effect it should have if touching the screen make all the ink color the same.
Why should it?: deploying a shield puts up a barrier everyone has to worry about. It's an obstacle. If anything, the issue is many other cases, like Wavebreaker or the central beacon of Big Bubbler, in which the player who deployed it can shoot through it as if it doesn't exists.
@@Dr_Nig screen isn't a shield.... It's just something that obstructs your line of sight. Even if we don't take into consideration its accessibility issues, it still hinders YOUR team just as much as the enemy, even though it is YOUR special

we need more chara tier lists I LOVE how in detail it gets and gets me further invested in learning about the game
As a Tri-stringer player, an additional thing that kills Ultra Stamp pretty easily is shooting the exploding arrows on the ground in the path the hammer wants to go. They don't seem to get shredded and the Stamp user usually mistakenly thinks they won't take too much damage from them. That or they get slowed down from having to jump or change path. As a Splatana Wiper player, I regret giving this tip.
Putting Ink Mines in the path of the Stamp player is so funny. Nobody shoots them but they still die after the third mine and you KNOW they respawn confused.

It was at the bottom of a lot of early splatoon 2 tier lists so this isn’t new for missiles
It's crazy how far Wave has fallen - and right now, with special/weapon diversity at a high in comp, the game is probably closer to how it was intended to be played than 3x slow moving targets per team
I feel like Nintendo could have put much more thought into the design of the specials working with each other, rather than only against player targets, because even with Crab being strong, Tacticooler and its Special Saver means the special output is higher, and safer
Congrats on Super Chump for being useless. Honestly why does it have a 10 second cooldown? It’s not a freaking missile it should be 7.5 seconds just like old Cooler was

Just give it location lol. Easy buff, really big too! Now dynamo has 2 utility specials and a useful sub AND there's a reason to use the objectively worse kit for zap.

My first time playing Splatoon 3 multiplayer I didn't know super chump existed so I just went " WHAT ITS A HACKER!"
Thank you for (if you saw it at least) listening to my feedback about discussing screen outside of the accessibility problems, it's very refreshing to see a player talk about the special from a gameplay perspective both in terms of the special itself and how it works on the weapons it's currently one
I love that the most "OP" special is ACTUALLY healthy to gameplay. It encourages more cooperation, less selfish plays, and it doesn't directly affect the enemy. Its effectiveness is based entirely on how well a team works together, and that's pretty dang neat!
Id personally appreciate a nerf to the respawn timer but yeah I overall agree it's real healthy for the game.

Personally, the special saver should be nerfed, not letting the player play the game is a lot more unhealthy than not encouraging the player to spam their special
@@TGCPhilip the respawn timer is what makes it near mandatory and gives players a harder time getting in. Ideally I'd like to reduce respawn timers across the board but I will give that a decrease in special saver would be better with the current system as it essentially eliminates all need for caution as it is now.

@@theghostcreator776 I personally think that tacticooler being near mandatory is a good thing. Without it being mandatory the meta would just be shooters, since they die the least, and have the most mobility. Tacticooler is the reason weapons that can't move are being played right now.
The only problem is that since its mandatory every team can spam their zooka's, and crabs, and jets, and strikes, which also makes pushing near impossible since wiping a team just lets them all come back with specials.
Honestly, if they want an actual buff for reefslider, make it compatible with dodge roller, the ability is only ever used anyway on zipcaster and inkjet weapons occasionally
I honestly have no idea how Screen got put in the game. With how many flaws it has - from hindering your own team, to blocking off the whole of mid on some maps, to the obvious accessibility issues - it should have gotten turned down or drastically changed _multiple_ times throughout development.
And it's not like we have a shortage of specials in the game. Idk what they were thinking

Tbh inkstorm shoukd recover your ink when standing in it. This would make it more unique and encourage standing in the storm, while also becoming a team support special to contrast cooler
They should make the Reefslider destroy all throwble subs and ink shots, except for Toxic Mist.
All C tier specials could be B and A tier with some decent buffs

Chumps is so much fun, my dream splat brella kit is fizzy bomb(good combos and paint) plus either chumps (to help you fight as well as replenish your ink) or booyah bomb(to keep you alive when you accidentally overextend)
The sub wepon Diversity really changed
As a point sensor CHAD since launch, im happy to see it where it belongs in A tier. Been arguing for it for ages. When I started S3 I used my first golden ticket on the explosher because its just a cool weapon. Turns out the internet decided hydra splatling was OP? I mean it wasnt but with everyone using hydra, the explosher was a hard counter. Mark them and bomb them from range, forcing them to drop their charge and being able to track them behind cover thanks to the sensor really made it pop early on. Beyond that, it came into the limelight again with the ninja squid meta which went on for MONTHS. This thing is so underrated because even outside of meta game stuff, its just really useful to be able to track people with nothing they can do.
Missiles in B tier would give a 2022 player a heart attack
As a .96 Gal main, which is me, even tho I know how to use the Ink Vac. Not just to stay in one place to vaccum enemies Ink, but needs movements. Just swim away if any threats are vulnerable to Ink Vacs (zipcasters, Splatanas, etc). Ik it's referring to Zones like you are saying most likely and also to protect others on objectives. Ink Vacs can bypass most of the specials which I made a video on. But if anyone uses this, just bare in mind that to use Squid forms often to move away or aim quicker
There’s a bug in the game where triple Splashtown can have all three fist if you time it just right while super jumping
There’s no way wavebreaker deserves to be in d tier, because you can’t get punished for it like you can with ultra stamp and reef slider. You don’t die because you use wavebreaker. At the very least, you get a free ink tank refill and a small shield. It also has some new utility against and playing with screen. I don’t think it’s amazing by any means, but it’s at least c tier imo
I also think it works really well with heavy, which has been my main since day one. Wave breaker has been getting so much slander and I will not stand for it!!!
As another heavy main, I agree with you that the main weapon really escalates the special due to how well they work together, but at the same time, I can't say I'd put it anywhere but the lower tiers because of the power creep that's been happening with the other specials over the past 9-ish months.
as someone who used to play heavy, i agree that wave has some pretty good synergy with the kit
however, I've observed that as the game progresses, people have gotten better at dodging and shredding wave the moment it comes out. hell, all you need is one charge slash and one tap slash from a stamper and it gets wiped off the face of the earth.
I'd like to see some buffs to it, though
Wavebreaker isn’t strong enough as a special to displace enemies like you’d hope. It’s *easily* shreddable (an awful trait that shows even more with the fact it only puts out three waves at once) and doesn’t do enough damage to deter enemies from fighting. I loved the synergy of the special on Range Blaster, but it is not a good special in comparison to the others by any means. It’ll need extensive buffs to get back to where it was.
You don't die for using it, but you get very little value from it too. I play a lot of wavebreaker weapons so I see it's potential but it's not in a good spot right now.
i would say screen is the best special in the game as its the only special that causes physical damage to the player
5:40 thanks for saying this. The amount of vitriol and ableism i see towards the disabled community bc of this special being banned in comp is atrocious. I am a disabled player (registered blind), although one of which the screen does NOT affect much, I understand why and how other players are struggling. Blatant ableism and ignorance for convenience isnt the answer. Thanks for standing up for the people.

Seeing Cooler at X rank will never not be funny as I only picked it up because admittedly I liked the funny "SODA!!!!!" jokes and had fun using NZap back in the Splatfest Premiere- glad my stupid support special isn't all that dumb, unlike Reefslider on my Tetra Dualies... polar opposites lol
Based on the information about roller in this video, I wonder if krakon roller has potential, I mean unlike other kraken weapons where using kraken means you are losing a main weapon that can paint or hold down an area from far away. With roller you are trading a one shot weapon with no paint for a one shot special that can't paint, but it is invincible. The sharking nature of roller also suits kraken well, since krakens are more effective when they are a surprise. Plus beacons make for an alternative for super jumping back to spawn. With beacons you can trade qsj for sub power up, which is more efficient. You could also not need stealth jump since beacons completely hid your jump.
I guess one problem would be that without curling bomb it might be slightly harder to get in, but honestly curling bomb doesn't really help you shark since it gives away your location, while beacons could be used as a way to quickly get behind enemy lines, and generally add to the "where is the roller" paranoia. Also beacons are often placed in spots under ledge, since they are harder to find that way, and they reveal the location of people near them, letting you know when someone is approaching. This works well with roller since rollers also like ledges.
The real problem is kraken, which is kinda weak. It does keep the roller alive like bubbler, but it doesn't really let the roller hold down space. If kraken got some mild buffs I could see it getting more use though.

I like to catch the enemy off guard sometimes by doing splashdown the frame after the super jump is done
Zip and kraken will always be my favs
While I mostly play Turf War, you don't know how many times I've been playing against someone who plays comp, and I randomly get one shot, and have the reaction of, "Oh yeah... Zipcaster got buffed"
It would be nice to have the option to launch Reefslider without riding it, so it can function like a bigger, obstensibly better Curling Bomb.
Personally, I'd change cooler to have three levels to its duration. The first five seconds you have all the buffs it gives, QR, special saver, max movement speed, etc, but right at the sixth second the QR and special saver effects wear off, leaving you with the movement speed, super jump, intensify action and ink resistance then at the eleventh second the intensify action buff wears off.

The healing bug fix basically was a nerf
aside from the healing bug being fixed, ive also noticed people just getting better at destroying wave without being affected too badly

Hopefully people will stop crying about Tenta Missiles and Nintendo will stop nerfing it. it's in a healthy spot right now, it doesn't need to get less good.

I'm glad tacticooler is meta. That kind of support option honestly should be. If its not, it may as well not exist. I play a different game with support options that just aren't worth using and its so depressing.
Wave Breaker isn't C tier, there's just low indication of when you're getting value out of it. The displacement and slowing effect of the waves is invaluable but it's nowhere near as bombastic as missiles or booyah so it's hard to call it good when you're not regularly thinking "that wave got great value!"
That's the problem with a lot of the lower-tier specials: you can't tell when popping them made the critical difference a lot of the time, but when they go bad, you're immediately like "ah damn typical reefslider/stamp/wave, doing nothing"
Well he does say this list is mainly for zones and wave breaker isnt the greatest of specials in that mode its for controlling areas and zone frankly have a lot of long range weapons and a lot of the spots are used so unless youre being aggressive to the other team then its low placement here makes a lot of sense

At launch, I thought Reefslider had the ability to climb up walls. Fast forward to now and Reefslider still hasn’t gotten the buffs it needs. I hope devs buff it to where it won’t just be a panic button.

I think wave should go in c tier at least because one of the best specials is crab and when crab jumps it can’t shoot so and when crab ends if they ignore 1/3 waves you’ll have the upper hand

Why are you focusing so much on Zones? I understand if it's specifically popular but it sounds more like this list was for a Zones Only meta, rather than ranking them in general.
Because, for multiple reasons, the other modes are problematic. For example, kraken + cooler kind of breaks Clam Blitz as a mode.
Zones, by comparison, is a pretty stable mode that allows for diverse strategies.

SPLASHDOWN HYDRA YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Tenta Missiles is worse than Reefslider. Reefslider, you make a big impact and then you die. Tenta Missiles, you might kill a few enemies that cannot move anywhere because of the fact that they're covered in bombs or toxic mist, or they're already being pressured by your own team, so you know. It only guarantees victory in spots where it is unnecessary to do so, you are literally throwing the game by using Tenta Missiles if you don't pop them as quickly as possible to make actual contributions to the game. Still, a great special unlike Reefslider as it will get the job done under its specific circumstances, it's just not worth using, unlike Reefslider which is only worth using if you know you can get away safely using it.
Tenta Missiles: Bottom of D tier
Reefslider: Bottom of C tier
Ultra Stamp: Way Above Reefslider in C tier
Wavebreaker: Above Ultra Stamp by not very much in C tier
Big Bubbler: B-tier, what it provides especially in tandem with a good team does a lot for a very short amount of time, needs speed and positioning which are two things that most specials in the game are usually already heavily rewarded with back in spawn, the backline, or in the enemy spawn. This makes it a Special that your teammates need to act on or needs to just be used to at the very least slow down your opponents and keep them occupied with something else, or just to waste special on. Honestly, it breaks way too easily, and if it were to be any more sturdy it would be a nightmare to have to deal with.
Ink Vacuum: Top of B tier, while I can see it not being essential, what it does against so many specials in Splatoon 3 is just straight up robbing so much of their utility that I cannot think of any other weapon that is the best at shutting down single shot specials
Kraken: I would agree with C tier, but like, when it works, it does a lot more a lot better than most of the other specials, so I don't know if it should be below Zipcaster, to be honest. Because Zipcaster's whole shtick is that it can be anywhere, it deals good damage, and gives good paint wherever it goes, and in my opinion, that should not be underestimated. However, when Kraken shuts down a team, it shuts them down immediately as that is its main job whenever it is used. Really difficult one to rank personally, but I'll stick it in the C tier as its faults make its effectiveness situational.
Special Screen: It's good when it works. The Epilepsy thing is really bad for it, but aside from that whenever you have to deal with it, it makes the very concept of fighting incredibly dizzying as the fundamental thing that we all take for granted, that being color. It is forcefully ripped out of most players' eyes, and it's something that players who aren't used to it will struggle to identify who's the enemy and where they can be and it just makes the game harder to play. That's all it really does, it just makes the game much more harder to play than it should be, and that's a bummer. C Tier
Triple Splashdown: B tier. When it works, it works better than most other specials, but when it fails, it will still force enemies through a lot of downtime shortly afterward, which can be taken advantage of by teammates. Only use this special if you have an exceptional reason to have exceptional faith in either your abilities or your teammate's abilities, if you have neither then do not use it.
Super Chump: Top of C tier. It doesn't do anything exceptionally well, but what it does do, that being body blocking and super jump confusing your enemies, it does well enough to be taken into consideration by your team, and with the weapons' kits that it paired with you don't have to worry about being dead weight if you have no faith in your abilities or your teammate's abilities because this weapon should just drop off a lot of worries if used correctly. If not though, then I mean you would have lost the match anyway, with or without the Super Chump so honestly, what does that tell you about the special. It won't turn around matches, but you don't have to worry about being deadweight, unlike Tenta Missiles or Reefslider.
Tri-Strike: I completely agree with its placement in B-tier, I might put it a bit higher because of its sheer power but because of the fact that you don't have the best mobility means that you need to play a bit much more safely with this special.
Ink Storm: B-Tier
Killer Wail 5.0: A-tier
Zipcaster: S-tier
Crab Tank: A-tier
Booyah Bomb: A tier
Ink Jet: S-tier
Triple Inkzooka: Top of S-tier
And finally, Tacticooler: If Tacticooler had the Special Savor toned down, B or A tier, maybe S tier if it wins or causes enough disruptions in matches. Honestly, the number one thing that I would like is for the Special Savor's effectiveness to be toned down by half, and in its place, a fire rate bonus of 45% let's say. Therefore, Dynamo and this thing can finally have a better synergy as you can now swing much faster with one of these soda cans being drunk. Currently though? X tier, and not for good reason.

the buff i want to see most for screen is not a buff to screen. i want thermal ink to mark on indirects and activate at sploosh range. thermal ink has so much potential in screen comps.

iirc Chara has given an idea for increasing the height of the waves to make it from having to do short hops to having to do bigger jumps to dodge them.
Make it work like kirby's mike ability and have each wave get bigger and harder to jump over with the 3rd being a near perfect timing jump to avoid maybe?
@@sylphroid I think the last jump would be too difficult for the average player, maybe you could have the wave drag out and friendly ink on the ground like pushing it outwards like a actual wave
I think damage is the last thing we should buff about it.
There are so many other things you could improve like increasing the radius, the above/below range, wave width/height, wave movement speed, and object HP
@180amf radius is already increased by using special power up, I would buff the Speed the waves take to travel
even talking about it as if it is fixed I think screen is the worst special, but I am not a competetive player

Hear me out: two options. Turn it into an activation special. With a tap, it just fires the reefslider, or you just use it normally, and tap again to end early like normal. If you hold it, though, it goes full distance and recalls you

I THINK COOLER SHOULDN'T BE NERFED, I totally agree with that, thanks to cooler we got one of the best meta splatoon has ever had.
ALSO IMO to start fixing the game the devs should realise how to rework bad design/weak special to make the game better instead of nerfing cooler, for example screen is a bad design special and wave should get screens effect to make it more annoying to deal with and take screen away, reefslider should get the endlag removed and stamp invincible in the front and that would make the special way more balanced

@@HeDronHeDronHedron or just merge wave breaker with screen so sunder gets a 250hp wall that can use with the brella shield to protect the wave or hold the shield and gain extra hp while fighting and ACTUALLY support the team instead of making it bad for everyone by spamming screens and ruining ur teams sight and making choke point WAY more harder to go thru for the other team, and yk what? wave could actually combo way better with undercover since it does more damage so u r basically allowed to miss or do even fall off and still get kills

@@nicolo2227 its not the best designed but its nowhere near as bad as stingray, ink armor, missles, or s1 bubbler. and i dont think undercover would synergize with wave at all
@@HeDronHeDronHedron ok screen is not as bad as stingray on paper but u need to look at what maps we r playing, u see that splat3 maps has many choke points and a screen is able to stole out the game for a long time for both teams making harder for them to engage in a fight like splatoon 2 missiles spam did but here is even worse for the choke point reason, if u say that wave doesn't synergies with undercover then I don't know maybe u didn't know that wave has a 250 hp that can help u hold space when u use it as a shield and it combos way more easily bc wave does 45 damage and with that u can actually do 40+shield bonk+wave = 1 shot,
and to make it more easier to understand, 45 damage is huge for undercover it will still make undercover 2 shot even if u miss by a lot

since tacticooler is so strong, would respawn punisher be a viable ability now? I haven't played splatoon 3 at all, just 1 and 2. So this is mostly an uneducated take.

Its undenyable that angle shooter is bad but I think we are getting to the point where calling it useless is just becoming a skill issue. It goes where you aim it and can't be dodged, just aim better. It should be c tier not d.

I don't like the Crab hate, the Crab meta was a bit tiring and got ridiculous near the end but it had some logic behind it and used weapons that were definitely strong, overnerfing weapons instead of buffing worse ones got us here.
Yeah, we technically have diversity, but it's only like that not because the weapons are equally strong or satisfying, no, because they're all equally weak and unfulfilling
Crab was hated back then because there was very little answers to it, Jet and Zooka both didn’t have the crazy object damage that they have now and Kraken was very slow when it came out

There's answers to crabs now and to me, it's just a good special in a weak pool
