  • AFTER CHANGING BOTH SENSORS IN THE PREVIOUS VIDEO THE FANS WERE STILL CONSTANTLY ON WHEN COLD, SO WE FIGURED ITS A WIRING ISSUE. AFTER TRACING THE WIRES WE FOUND AN AREA THAT HAD BEEN RUNNING ON THE HOT WATER PIPE CAUSING IT TO MELT THE WIRING SLIGHTLY, APPRENTLY ITS A COMMON PROBLEM

I have a question. Are you placing the probe on the wire without having any of the metal exposed on that wire? How can you test for continuity by touching the insulation without actually touching the wire? If you're "poking" the wire, are you actually removing some of the insulation? Do you need a very pointy lead?

So they are just hair pins taped to the actual probe pins, allowing it to penetrate though the insulation to be able to touch the wire. ( because they are sharp they can poke inside, paper clips also work but have to be taped to the probes properly) let me know how you get on

Great. I think I have this issue after I replaced a brand new ECT sensor. The dct code reads P0118. The fans intermediately keep on which is not supposed to be happening.
