I don’t know man, but this track actually turned out to be some fire.
Let's be real. ANY video with Ricky + Digitakt is an immediate must watch. Always so good.
"I don't know where I am going" -> Solid minimal tech house track I guess
hahah! Thanks for the kind words and support Laryngo
I'm not gonna lie I didn't expect that to work as well as it did. I saw you took whole loop and I was like "nah that's gonna be so many frequencies clouding it up, there's no way you'll be able to grab a useable bassline." But it freaking worked. It had a bounce to it that I couldn't hear at all in the original sample. Never thought to try sometime like that... Just take the whole master like that... Wild...
this works really well for pure low end especially when you have really good filter controls like this !
To be honest: to me, you’re always at your best when it shows that you’re having tons of fun with what you’re creating while recording the video. And at least for me, those videos of yours are the most inspiring ones to me. I enjoyed it so much watching this, and man, what a muscle memory you’re showing! That’s just amazing! Thank you very much!
Man watching how quick you work with the Digitakt is inspiring. The function arrow trick to nudge steps and the LFO trig lock on the first step are gonna stick with me next time Im making something with it. Need a video dedicated to these hot tips and tricks 🔥
the oldschool all-in-one-sample-approach also happens to be the serendipidist way of doing things (cherrypicking certain harmonics is easier than adding harmonics from scratch later)
10:47 holy shit. i was always disabling LFO triggers for the entire track and re-enabling it for the first step. always frustrated that i couldn't trigger both LFOs independently. didn't know i would take that away from this video, thanks man 😂
This shit starts to get real hot around 12:30. Soooooo good.
Yet another killer tutorial Ricky, great stuff!
Great technique. Signed up to tracklib, thanks Ricky!
I don't even have a digitakt or any elektron device but I love to watch these videos!! Amazing man!
Whenever im not using my Digitakt much i watch you using it and im straight back on it! Excellent thanks ;)
I just wanted to say, ur energy is really cool and your videos are a vibe and its fun watching them! keep it up!
Had to go watch one of your other videos first so I could see and hear the intro before playing this one. Just didn't feel right without it! Love the low end theory!
You inspire me to reconnect with gear I already own ❤ such refreshing content, goated channel imo
Thanks man, I literally did a track on the Digitakt using this exact method this evening 👌 will flesh it out in ableton tomorrow! Sounding dope. Much appreciated
I started playing music with Ni's Maschine mk1 sampler. As I became a pro, I started to pay more attention to the changes and composition of tracks. In fact, creation is building ideas from very small scratches. It is also meaningful to not think about what genre or style of song to make, but to entrust the flow completely to inspiration like that. I got a lot of inspiration. Thank you.
So good to watch you do this - thanks 🙏
Gonna try this out! Super sick!
That was FAST to achieve a nice bounce and groove. I’m guessing even without using the bassline it could be a great way to study how to resynthesize baselines from scratch, tweaking micro timing, slide, accent or volume envelope etc for more complexity/fluidity. The shift tip for variations is gold too
Nice feel. The feel is hard to describe. You got that down.
Great quick way to get a nice bassline. I’ve done this since I started with the mpc2000xl years ago.
This is a very useful tutorial. Definitely outside of my usual workflow. Interesting and inspiring.
Great tute Ricky and excellent BOOM BAP
much love brother!!
Great video as always!
Ooooo that drum beat ! Whoomp whoomp. And again Great tip on baseline Technics ! Thanks !!
This is how we did it in the 90ies. Listen to: Bob Sinclar "Visions of Paradise" + "The Ghetto", Topazz "New Millenium" Freezzy Jam Mix, Mike Delgado "The Upstairs Lounge", The Invisible Man "True House" Groove On Records.
Digitakt is definitely a instrument, fast and immediately.
super stackatto 12:25 epic !!!!!
Great tip man. Thanks for the Press Record hat also 🔥
Amazing ❤
Old school production skills are 🔥...yes it's a little time consuming...but the results are 💯👍
I don't use samples for bass like you showed in this vodeo but I think this is what I need to do ;) Thanks!
Hey thank you for Claude Vonstroke, didn't know him. I love it a lot !
Ricky on the fly inadvertently makes half decent techno track. Noice.
I'll have to check out tracklib. Looks interesting. Thanks
This is such a good tip it’s basically been hiding in plain sight. Knowledge really is power huh
reminding me of Mr G - moments!
Brain explosion 💥💥. How simple and brilliant.....Cheers.
Super!!!
King Rick
Damn you're a beast on the Digitakt.
that was fun
you make the digitakt look so fun, i kinda want one now lol. i hate DAWs but the workflow on the digitakt looks so smooth
I've made a lot of music in Ableton, but doing stuff on the Digitakt is so much fun! It's so powerful too, it would be much harder to do stuff like this in Ableton. Slowing stuff down ruin flow... but I still use Ableton to add extra tracks and master tracks.
Nice
Hey what genre would you consider that section with your synth line? Nice work good sir. As per usual.
Great sample tweaking on this one. Since it’s basically the holy grail (or the workflow killer) - how did you manage to plug in the digitakt without latency/play in sync right away? 😮
Been trying to solve that for month 😅
Hello! How about electron integration with loopcloud? Do you use it? Or there is no any advantage?
you could use the bass stems from thr song to avoid the bleeding no? and keep the frequencies
I really have to through all your older Elektron vids, these are pure gold to open up to techniques I wouldn’t have thought of at all… Been trying to remix my old tracks, with a group/drummer without a clicktrack, and having no success at all splicing up the tracks, timing is everywhere. I’ve gotta try this trick, short clips and just swing them back into time… Thank you again for some incredibly useful, practical tips! Oh yea, using an OT for this, but the workflow is pretty well the same… 🫠
whoa whoa whoa how did you do the sidechain compression on the digitakt?
Set the sidechain to your kick track, then squash it. Some kicks work better than others
I'm a Brian Auger nerd. I have literally all his albums.
question: the synth sample said C3. so when you put the keyboard settings to D, wouldn’t that make it out of tune? 🤔
👌
Something good about the technique is that you can make your own baseline based on this. So yall don't go crazy about the Tracklib thing, which is AMAZING, but wouldn't recommend for starting on making music, explore yourselves.
So - I take it you know how to use the Digitakt just a little bit?
sp404 or digitakt ? or whats the new cool ricky??? i got both... digitakt seems basic but i do love the ease of some things... the 404 is rocket science to me... is there something more 2023 and the new cool ?
You are pretty amazing I have a question I have a budget of $2,000 and I'm looking for a hardware safe where I can create drum samples like snares high hats and kick drums but I also wanted to be versatile enough where I can create amazing leads and amazing bass sounds for reggae music I pretty much want something that's going to be versatile I was looking at the system 8 but I don't see anything out there that tells me that it's good for drum libraries please help me out with this thank you sir you're the best
Syntakt
How do you make the DT screen not flicker?
And it looks crisper and less pixelated than my Digitakt screen.
12:20 ❤
Operator in Ableton? Easy peazy, best bass. But why make it simple when you can make it super complicated I guess. :)
is this a sponsored ad for tracklib
For finding the sample section yes. This video is sponsored by Tracklib :)
Is this video on mono?
Nope it's stereo, you might've just been early and caught the vid while it's still processing. CZcams is odd like that sometimes
@@GeorgeL909 ohh I didn’t know that
had to stop the video to listen to the song in full
I think something went wrong with the export of your thumbnail.
Bro u better but some tracks out like the original lil synth melody it hit way too hard and even though u might not like it that’d make the floor Jump and that’s what thekids want
Transformative sampling should be free!!
How the hell is it fair use to take small movie clips and just upload them into your videos but taking a 2 second clip from a song thats no ones heard of chop it up and process it and thats not "transformational". Unless tracklib is going to have our backs on this and pay for lobbying against excessive copyright...I don't want anything to do with them.
Where is the bassline? LOL.....the fuck?
this makes me lose hope for humanity/art and culture in general
TrackLib has saved my life! I love it! The only thing to be careful about is the key. Sometimes the key they say it's in isn't exactly correct.
I think I've come across this before ahah. I thought I was trippin, good to know! Thanks for the support Eric
