#Syntakt #AnalogDrumMachine #Elektron - Hudba
„let me show you how the chords sound super generic“
*makes super dope chord*
„oh nevermind, i lied“
Why do people complain that it doesnt have sampling-capabilities? It makes no sense.. it's not a sampler... when I buy a piano I dont complain that I cant play guitar on it...
I do. that's why I buy electronic and not grand pianos.
@@StopWars420 Yeah but then you just like to complain lol
@@latenightfortunecookie I like what I like
Because we are not dumb, we don't try to fly with a car, but we expect from a 1000€ computer/machine to sample. We also do not try to compare a limited physical acoustic instrument with a computer/machine driven by software.
@@afxtwinreverb yeah, the original comment is ridiculous. The only reasons it can’t sample is because Elektron doesn’t want to cannibalize it’s own product’s market. They want you to feel like you need three different $800 when one box could easily be capable of doing all those tasks with very little changes.
I just want to say, your demeanor is always so captivating. It’s like you’re the Bob Ross of music creation here. I love seeing your personality surface with each discovery and that frown face intrigue when you find that sound that just slaps haha. I always love your videos. I was torn between a digitone or Syntakt for my first device and later worry about a digitakt or octa for samples but I’ll say you showcased exactly why the Syntakt can work. It’s a synthesizer groove box. And that’s a unique niche of its own (not just a drum machine or not a sampler, etc.)
So I love that you brought the highlights, but was honest on what was weak or missing or the common denominator that Elektron just wants to strip and add things to make people buy 3 separate boxes minimum 😂
Excellent video as always Ricky!
Great vid, really illustrates how much flexibility & depth the Syntakt has for creating sounds, and a great track. Love that chord sound you made, I’m gonna have to spend more time with the chord engine…
You always manage to make it look so easy. Love your work!
I keep learning a lot from every thing you publish; thanks !!!
Great stuff. Love it. Thank you for posting
Man I pre-ordered it as soon as they announced it too. Exactly the box I was hoping Elektron was gonna come with. I've been waiting for your take on it ever since!
I was waiting for this review
Thanks Ricky
Crazy how the model cycles seems to get so much love for its price.
Great info - thanks Rickey!
really nice machine, am really looking forward to seeing what future updates bring
This was super helpful - thank you for posting this. Your point about wishing the retrigs were quantized (buttons 13 - 16) at the end was right on... I find them fairly unhelpful for live play. Thanks again. Groovy stuff!
Nice Ricky! Keep them coming.!!!! 👍
I like the Classic Kick machine. You get a bunch of tick options on that. The digital machines really make up everything you miss from an x0x drum box and u get 8 tracks to use. Pretty sweet.
🖤❤💛💙i love how you have mastered this equipment and demonstrate it so fast.....you have demonstrated it to a level i NOW appreciate...this is the video to watch after you have watched the introduction and initial unboxing etc from other channels...............i have revisited this video and thats why i say this.....blessup...🖤❤💛💙
These Elektron devices are amazing! I just love the music you can get out of these machines!
That looks and sounds really good to me. I'll go and get one. Thanks for the little introduction!
great sounds here great work
nice one enrique! my favorite jam from you in a while. and I appreciate the sentiment of warning people against the machine before gushing about it :-)
Holy Groove!! pls make some more jam sessions like before. Like last 5 min but full video!! Tnx Ricky. Much Love Share the Knowledge Knowledge is Power Peace!
This box is (a) the (kind of) mid way point between drumbrute and rytm and (b) an analog (+virtual) drumsynthesis tool for studio producer IMHO. Ive been waiting for a device like this for years now and I'm very stoked to pick one up soon.
Max Dopeness. Your music inspires me to pull my tech house project out of stasis.
Bought it specifically for synthesizing all my own drums, to go along with the digitakt and digitone. Between the 3 I have more than enough options now for building tracks.
Same. I'd been fighting analog rytm gas to finish my mk2 trinity. I don't have any desire now since I have the digi trinity. Those three little black boxes are amazing alone, and unstoppable together.
You're right about the velocity levels. It's just rapid recording if not an exact capture of all intent you could ever have.
I have a lot of fun using it and it can go very wild if you dive deep into lfo/envelop modulations. I tried with MPC, Octa, Force but finally end up using it with analog four. Wich works the best for me as i can use the 4 audio lines out with fx. Anyway, it can be a great companion to any live setup.
...and yeah... I love it. Ricky, You showed me few examples why I want to dive in that piece of hardware. It doesn't mean that I still want/need/have to to get Analog Rhytm Mk2 this year. I don't know yet what are the differences between those two but surely Elektron knew what they doing for the artists groups. To have, to know, and use more that one piece of hardware is always a form of a level.
Nice video man! Thank u!
Dude I love this lighting!
I like it. That said, my relationship with Elektron is living vicariously through other CZcamsrs, such as yourself. This helps prevent from becoming a gear head...
I agree! It was exactly what I was wanting too :)
Very dope sound at the end, going full techno
cool man! looking on you it looks so easy and quick, but doing it by myself took me along more time :))) waiting for my syntakt
Something seems right about Syntakt. Digging the refined selection of tools.
...and those cowbells from syntakt... sure I'll get it soon. Love to Elektron group what They already achieved. &Thank You. Still the best channel on CZcams.
SENOR TINES love this video and love this piece of kit ty brother man
Dude , keep your essence that I love
Huge Cycles fan, can't wait to get this. 👏
Amazing video!
Gave me a few ideas after owning mine for a month - you can slow that second synth down with page specific speed controls as well. Great times.
ayy new ricky hype, saturday evening blessed
Yep, definitely buying.
Dope!
New Ricky vid? I'm poggin' out of my mind right now.
I’ll never give up my syntakt. I have an MPC for sampling, so that being “missing” isn’t a problem for me. I got it because it sounds amazing and I don’t have another box like it. Pry it from my cold corpse, haters! lol
Have had model cycles and samples for some time ,love them both. I have the octatrack mk2 as well making some progress on that but man it's a hate love relationship.
I'm a trucker and ordered all the e25 versions. Digitone, Digitakt, and the Syntakt. They are at the house awaiting me. Can't wait to get my hands on them.
I want this the digi, the tone keys, and analog keys for sound design and jamming. These are my dream instruments
Great vid dude!
Thanks! Great video as always! 👍🏼 It made me realise that I need to sell my syntakt and buy something else. I bought the syntakt on day one without much research. I Really thought it would be more synth-focused, and that the analog machines would be more like analog four. I’ve really tried to love it but to me it just feels like a cycles which I never liked either. And as you said about the chord-engine, it just sounds dull.
Great video. Just sold my Rtym mk2 , it just was not for me. However watching this, I can see this fitting in my set up in a much more finite way. Strange but true.
What's interesting about these machines to me is that they tease one to explore in conceptually musical terms. I mostly love it... Mostly.
great stuff🔥!
I must say those hi hat modulations sounded really funky.
Thank you for showing me why this device exists, what‘s its place. Couldn‘t understand it from other presentations on CZcams. Now, what would be the next level of coolness was if you’d manage to demonstrate where the OP1-field has a place to exist for the price you have to pay for it 👾🙃 Don‘t get me wrong with this, I love Teenage Engineering, and I‘m fascinated by their new mixer, although this too is expensive
Yeah I need to know more about overbridge.
Ricky you made an absolute banger on this thing I think electron owe you some comission 🤣
I was never a fan of Elektron's gear.
However, one day I found the Model:Cycles and thought: "why not, let's give it a chance". Get to the store, played a bit there paid and get with that small best to the home. I felt in love with this device. And to be honest - there was nothing new with regards to the sonic range it offered. However, the way how it works is much more rewarding than any controller and plugins. The sequencer allows to do a lot of stuff, parameter and machine locks allowed to generate crazy sequences in no time and with a lot of fun. The sound quality is also top notch. But still, I thought about other Elektron stuff as not worth the price.
But strangely, I had more and more thoughts about getting the Syntakt. To buy or not to buy? If buy on the internet I have some time to test it and can return if don't like, so yeah, not so much risk, let's get that baby here. I was afraid that the sonic range will overlap with the Cycles. And that's true, there are things that can be easily done on both of them. But instead doubling each other I find them very complementary. Now I am thinking about adding a sampler to my setup, just wondering which will be better - Digitakt or Octatrack?
I think I became a fan of Elektron's gear.
I recently went through the exact same thing. I just got my Syntakt yesterday and today I’m looking at the Octatrack already… 😉
Lol! I originally bought the Digitakt but, what I was really looking for was for a modern Machinedrum. In that regard, the Syntakt delivers and then some! So happy I switched! :D
That chord progression is deeep 😗👌
As I was agreeing with your commentary, taking a big sip of hot chocolate, orange light flooding the room, I notice that you have the same flippin' MUG that I'm sippin' from, ON YOUR DESK. Hope you're enjoying the journey so far. Cheers!
I see this as a potential companion to my MPC One for live work.
This syntakt and MPC one or Akai force heheh powerful
Nice demo, I like the way they’ve simplified all the synth parameters. Does it have morph like the SonicPotions LXR?
Great review linke always. Were do you connect the wireless headphones to?
You don't know what this video expects. One of the few opinions I'm interested in hearing. Because it is honest.
Thank you for your excellent content. I am an MPC user but have found it a bit sterile because I'm not a big sample diver. I was going to get a Digitone to pair with my MPC One to see where that took me, but maybe the Syntakt is the answer... So many questions!!
Syntakt + MPC One is a combination I’ve been pondering. Have you happened to pick up a Syntakt yet?
You guys are going down the alley I want to go. Since it’s been out for a while I’m thinking about getting one to pair it to my MPC. I’m just hoping the workflow isn’t too complicated. Ricky makes it all look so easy
I recently picked up a Digitone Keys and love it (my first Elektron box). I also just got an MPC One which I'm new to. I'm renting a Syntakt at the moment (I know, too much gear!), and it's fun, but I think that a Digitakt would go better with the DK and MPC One than a Syntakt would. I suppose that the MPC One is great with samples, so I don't need a Syntakt or a Digitakt - too much GAS, man!
@Doctor 808 - if I had an MPC and was picking up an Elektron box, it'd be a tough call between the Digitone and the Syntakt. The sound design on the Digitone is deeper than the Syntakt for sure (4 synth pages on DN vs 1 synth page on ST). The extra tracks and fx track on the ST are really handy.. Did you find any answers to your questions? :)
Just bought the syntakt, after using the digitone allot and loving it. not sure if I should have bought the digitakt instead.. tbd
Idk if I understand you correctly about FX page and placing triggers, but on rytm you can place trigs and automate stuff on a separate track
Awesome machine! I’m interested in your headphone setup. Is it a system or single components for wireless hearing?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Polyend Play
the golf clap preset is definitely the best one on the cycles haha
Wow. You have a very impressive ability with that machine. Looks like it would take a while to learn tho’.
That hi hat is so spicy. Love this.
solid reggaeton 💃🏽🕺🏽 love my Syntakt 💯
dope video and tunes
Can you do a longer video on Syntakt house sound design?
It's funny how we all kind of search for the same sound. The kick is just how I like it, perfect 👌💯
Tbh this video shows me exactly why I don't want a Syntakt, it just sounds too much like a Model:Cycles, which is a machine I struggle to get good results from, besides kickdrums and bass - just like you mention!
And I can't stand the M:C hi hat sound, though I liked it at first, I think I just overused it, but it really sticks out to me when I hear it now when people use it. Maybe the analogue hat would be cool for me
Overbridge is amazing for sure, I played with a friends Digitakt using Overbridge and it's like something from the future, especially compared to my Model:Sampes (amazing value for money I think) can imagine great workflow with the Syntakt
End of the day it's all about making music and finding the boxes that are right for you, so yeah enjoy the Syntakt and thanks for the video : )
odd question, but what temp color would you say your lights are? your lighting is magic for chillin me out, I want that all in my house
MC-707 and a few of the other Roland products also output their individual channels like the Syntakt. No analogue synth circuits built in, though. The drum engine synthesizes drumkits if desired, but the result is always rather clean, unlike the Electribe 2 which can get dirtier and more interesting.
OTOH if you want thousands of classic Roland gear sounds like 808, 909, Juno it’s a nice box to have to complement other gear…
When you added the snares I was like "was is this mickey mouse reggaeton bullshit" but after you added the hihats I was like "damn I'm vibin someone pass me the hookah"
Thanks!
Yo! thank you so much for that! i really appreciate it :)
Hmmm... This might be the perfect upgrade from the Arturia Drumbrute Impact, especially since it includes FM based sounds!
I was thinking the same as I watched this. I like my Impact but would be nice to have more control over the shaping of the sounds.
I rarely sell anything, and I’m definitely holding onto my DB Impact. The more drum options at my disposal, the better! What makes the Syntakt interesting is the combination of drum sounds and synth sounds. It really is a “groovebox”, and it’s fantastic when paired with a Digitakt and Digitone.
Since I already have an Octatrack, no need for a Syntakt. Did get a Digitone for FM beats. Looking at a Rytm or Perkons for drums in the future.
After this video I want to go and play my Machinedrum with custom firmware. Unfortunately it doesnt have Overbridge, but its also can do a lot of fun sounds.
It does seem a tad expensive for a Groovebox though I’ve not dipped my toe into the Elektron workflow yet, perhaps that alone justifies the price?
I love Overbridge. I hook up the gear on the desktop, and most of the time I just remote connect to the desktop from my laptop via Parsec, and I have full control of my Digitone and Syntakt from anywhere in the house or backyard. Very little latency even.
What a legend
We need that scale mode for the digitakt and digitone!
Oh my goodness, that would be amazing
i love nerds. thanks for the inspo. great energy.
Nerds are nerds
Many thanks for this great video but i have the Analouge Rhytem two times the Diditak and the Digitone and the Anoluge 4 .What can i do with the Synthak what the other maschines not have .
i home Roland makes an interface like the TR8S for the MC707, the only thing that i like better about elektron boxes is overbridge. but i still love my OT!
can we get a Model:Analog ? that's all i want...
great video. I wonder if you could sequence a drum rack in ableton live with the syntakt via midi through usb.
Yes, you can
Ive been happily using the digitakt for a few years now, but i gotta say im not super Down with overbridge. Falls in and out of sync, and just seems super unstable overall. Gone back to syncing via midi and recording the stereo out. Like that a lot more
I've never been a fan of the Elektron workflow. I'm dawless but I use Deluge and Circuit Tracks for sequencing and sample playback. However, if they ever produce a Octatrack mk III with extra external inputs and update the FX processing, I'd buy one and learn how to use it. But I can see how for some, this product fits a specific niche.
dAwLeSs brah
What exactly is “the elektron workflow” to you? Step sequencing? Because their devices are very flexible and can be used in a variety of ways.
I only own a machinedrum right now but lately I have been using it as a midi controller for my evolver more than as a drum machine.
What you just described is an MPC with USB compliant audio and the new filters being added 23 June 2022. It even costs less and works with more channels, has a color screen… Anyway, just pointing something out. Pick what works best for you.
all the people involved with the ot left elektron so it seems unlikely that they'd release a third iteration
@@llax222 it needs a major revision to use Overbridge and new OLED screen. Still fantastic box though.
Monomachine has dedicated tracks for effects that can be sequenced like any other machine
The Syntakt compliments my Digitakt so well. 28 tracks to explore with is fantastic. Not to mention, they look killer together. If it were my only Elektron device, I might pass, but the utility is amplified when paired with another Elektron device. My only problem now is watching Ezbot's Octatrack template. Now I want Digitakt → Octatrack → Syntakt for my bedroom techno extravaganza. Great Jam Ricky, as always!
I reckon Korg Gadget is a better use of money.
It gets to the point where the joy of choice is negated by the complexity in running too many Electron boxes at once. Been there:)
@@notsure1135 I wanna love Gadget but the latency is a dealbreaker
28? So with 8 midi from dt
@@TheCuri Yea, 16 on Digitakt, 12 on Syntakt.
Do you think it is a good match with novation circuit? Especially for some housy stuff ... :)
You've pretty much summed up my feelings about the Syntakt. Really enjoying it as a drum machine. I've been more of a sample based drum musician thus far (although the Force does have a drum synth but it seems overly fiddly and tweaking them doesn't feel as intuitive as the Syntakt). The 'synt' part of Syntakt has left me feeling a bit cold. Struggling to make anything I really like but have my outboard gear for that anyway. As a drum synth though. This this is great. Could do with some more effects though. Some sounds need a bit more crunch and oomph. Hopefully a firmware update can add that. 🤞
Syntakt + Octatrack + Kijimi….. Game over man!
Ricky, do you take everything you've produced (all the tracks), and then formalise everything in Ableton via the overbridge function? How do you use overbridge? Thanks!
