I think the scores for straight line performance were a bit low on this for a car that weighs 4400 lbs. Good video though and the 850i is sexy as hell!

The M8 is a lot faster actually, quart mile is in the 10s , 60 in the 2s. M8 is lighter and has (at least) AT LEAST 100HP more than the M850i. BMW and sometimes Mercedes-AMG makes more power than advertised. An F10 claims 552HP from factory and yet on the dyno it makes 600 minimum and 630HP max. Now in 2020 the claimed HP bump is about 50HP (factory claim) so (I’m assuming) that the power of the M8 is like near 700 or over 700 because owners are dipping into Supercar territory with only 600HP? Obviously makes more than 617 advertised HP.
@@aidenp5768 The m8 competition does 0-60 in 3 seconds flat, I don't think 0.5 seconds in 0-60 is worth like 35k extra...
And also like 90% of the people on the road wont be able to tell the difference... and they've both got the same engine its just that the 850i is a detuned version.

The M8 does 0-60 in 2.5 seconds according to car and driver which is ridiculously fast, then there’s the quarter mile which is 10.7 seconds in the quarter mile. The leather and material quality is even above the 8. So your getting a car a full second faster in 0-60 and quarter mile is a full second faster. Maybe it is worth it. The M8 is also a stunning car! I would pay the full price for it imo, it’s worth it. If you have the money to buy the M8 you shouldn’t care about by how much expensive it is to the car below it or depreciation
Your probably right, my parents own a M850i grand coupe and its pretty fast but 2.5 seconds for 0-60 is a whole other world.
Both of them basically have the same interior,The m8 is more sporty, the 850i more luxurious and both of them turn heads not gonna lie...

Not only that, the M8 handles completely different than the 850i, the M850 is a good handling sporty car but the M8 literally drives like a heavier 911, it’s nimble for the size, it can move its weight so good and on the Nurburgring BMW claims it’s faster than the M4 GTS which is 7:28 seconds. The M8 has a different diff than the M850, suspension, engine, more bracing which means stiffer and sharper handling, top of the line tires, and lighter materials for the chassis and body in general. The car is expensive for a reason I believe.
I race one of these from a dig in a 2019 Mustang GT at a stop light couple months back, dude totally smoked me lol, it was like 42 degrees that night, i straight spun smh......
You did not race one of these a few months back because they weren't even making them a few months ago. Not to mention only around 200 were shipped to the US.

Only thing i disagree with is rhe handling rating. From what ive seen and heard this thing is very good on track. In one test it nearly matched the e63s amg. Tbh this guy shouldnt keep it for very long. The n63 is known to have many issues. Hoepfully his is good but i still dont trust it. Looks very very cool though. Really good lookin car. The roll racing is a bit disapointing for a car thats that expensive tbh. Itll beat 95% of whats out there from a roll ya but still m badge and twin turbo v8...come on....
This is the m sport. Not the M version. It's basically a sportier version of the standard 8 series. The 610+ hp M8 will be the performance version.

I was shocked by how well this car handles with the 4 wheel steering. It is eager to turn in and feels like a much smaller car, but you always feel the weight. It is obvious they knew this car was heavy and the answer is more power and much better steering to compensate... The weight is an investment in solid feel like a good GT car imo. One of the best BMW's I have owned and I have owned many. I don't race cars like these guys do.
The Roll Racing is where this cars weight would betray it. It can overcome it off the line with AWD and lots of power but on a roll not so much. Also two other things it was hot and the driver was revving it up quite a bit self admittedly and the car was BARELY broken in. All things considering these are pretty good real world numbers with a one off test drive.

@@techmaster777 mid 7s? 60 to 130mph?... Thats the fastest gti ive ever heard of haha. Fbo gti will do about 15-16sec. A fully properly built one ya i could def see 7 sec happening. If you have big turbo and whatnot on yours then dam bro respects it probably flys. Brave though to push that motor unless of course its built.

Stefan Cupovic stock motor haha. Was a 7.48 easing on the throttle but did have a slight 2 percent decline in the beginning also. Getting meth injection put on to hopefully get into the 6’s. bigger turbo, e85, and fueling upgrades basically. Everything else I did was extra haha. I’m more worried about the transmission though. I think my clutch might have started to slip tonight was sort of slipping a bit on downshifts.. hopefully not the case tomorrow.
Mid 7's with all these tunes? Wouldn't it have been better to go for an M4 and run low 7s with just an ecu tune and nothing else? After all, its not even a golf R, which are also laughable. Just yesterday i smoked a 7r on the autobahn. 313 tacho kmh in my M4, under 33 seconds 0-300
BMWs have been very good to. E39 sport 540i bought 80k miles drove till 160k . E46 m3 bought with 163k miles drove till 195k . Starter went on it bought one at a junk yard $60.00. profited off the sale and put 30k on it. Currently have a e60 550i bought with 183k currently has 236k just waxed it been good to me put new front shocks I change plugs and coils every 30k with Chinese eBay coils $55.00 for 8 new coils ngk plugs. Things great flies on highway. I stopped buying Mercedes because of abc suspension is great when it works but one to many days of abc warning lights and drooping suspension.

I’m a BMW fan but I wouldn’t spend my money on the M850i. You can get a M5 competition for slightly less and it’s more powerful, quicker and a lot more practical. Or just buy a nearly new M5 and get it tuned and still save a bucketload.
Yea I’d just wait for the m8 comp to come out, wait 18 months after it’s release, then buy a 18 month old one that’s already lost most its depreciation

It’s not amazing but it’s impressive considering what it is. It’s a heavy 2 door coupe with LUXURY in mind, rather than PERFORMANCE. The M8 will embody both of those characteristics and most likely put down a 2.9-3.0 0-60 and much faster drag trap speeds.

3.4 seconds 0-60 is legit period for a GT coupé. This isn't even the M8 lol that's really great for somebody who just wants a really nice luxury coupe with good power, but not wanting to be as flashy as an exotic car.

IMO you are completely missing the point of this Car. This isn't a Sports/Track Car that gained too much weight. It's a luxury GT/Coupe with a beefed up Power Train. There is a Big difference. I would never chose a La Ferrari as a daily car, but I would chose the M8. (Although I would argue that the GranCoupe is a much better offering)
Anything in the 11’s is serious, especially given the heft !

zolikoff It’s not a protection setting. All modern BMW’s with the 8spd ZF have the “5 minutes between launches” in the owners manual just as a warning/precaution. You can launch as much as you want

Problem is if you beat on any car itll wear down components...dont assume a corolla living its days out to max 3k rpm is same as someone hammering on the sports coupe lc500 daily.

Probably for marketing so people can spend a little more money and get a taste of M performance at a lower cost. Just like they have the M240i but its not actually the M2. Or how you can have an M sport package on the 335i that doesn't even say M in its name.

Hey, Brooks. Did you check out Eli's 1/4 mile pass in his new refresh Model S P100D? He recorded 10.6s @127.55mph. The video of the pass and interview with Eli is featured on Alex "E for Electric" channel. Now, this is not the first time a stock P100D has recorded 10.6s. There's a CZcams video of an older version (blue, just like Eli's) that recorded 10.6s. But it's the trap speeds that I find to be a huge improvement (considering it is the same 100kwh battery pack). And I still think the car is capable of 10.5s (or even 10.4s).
I have an 850i and its a terrible drive, the steering is so vague, it wanders and requires constant correction on the motorway. Why does nobody talk about this. Its bizarre!

Lc500 has tinfoil in its taillights...sorry but the cheap bits all over that car. Ruined for me imo. Bucnh of good stuff but the cheap toyota shit is still all over the place.
