For Power BI Premium Per Capacity, how can we be sure that it will stay upto 4995? I think it will increase with users, because with more users, more capacity would be required.
Power BI Premium is a capacity based license. It won't increase automatically as long as you keep the SKU same. Also, note that Capacity is for the data storage or compute NOT for the report viewing. However, in some cases, you may need to upgrade. For example if you have a lot of concurrent data refreshes

Power BI Premium P1 has the lowest capacity dedicated environment: 8 v-cores: 4 Frontend Cores. 4 Backend Cores / 25 GB RAM
One Quick question if I purchase Premium Per Capacity Licence then why do i need Pro License For Publishing and Developing the report when it can be covered under Premium Per Capacity? It's Kinda Confusing..
It may seem confusing but it’s the way it works.
Please note that Power BI Pro is not covered under Power BI per User or Premium Capacity.
For Publishing Power BI reports, Power BI pro license is the requirement.
@@BIConsultingPro that does mean org wise one willl have two licenses.. One would be Pro and Other would be Premium Per Capacity... So mostly for the developers it would be Pro and for rest of the users who will consume/view could be added to Premium Per Capacity via AD group..
@@siddheshamrutkar8684 yes, Power BI Pro is for developers only. However, Power BI Premium Capacity is used for features, performance and dedicated capacities. These all are features which matters for report viewers only.
Please note that when a company uses Power BI Premium that starts from 4995 USD per month for P1, generally gets some free Pro licenses based on the contract with Microsoft. Power BI Pro costs USD 10 per user per month.
I have a doubt regarding this ....
1) pro users can consume and share only with pro users but wont have AI features , 48/day , extra storage
2) ppu can share report with pro users not with free users in case of large org.
Ppu workspace accessed only by other ppu user who have access it.
3) premium capacity, can share with all pro and free users includes all , pro licences is needed to that work space my question is how many pro users have access to premium capacity.. is it like capacity price + no of pro price so that pro user who have access to premium capacity can all features as premium capacity
Your point #2 is inccorect. PPU users also can share only with other PPU users only.
Power BI Pro license is always required to publish and manage content on Power BI Service.
Power BI Premium Capacity content can be shared with any users who has Power BI Free license. Power BI Free license also needs to be assigned to the users by MS O365 admin.
We would still require Powwer BI Pro liceses to those who are authors (To develop and Publish). even if you have premium capacity based license. So we sould consider number of Pro license cost in addition to premium capacity license cost.
No, My friend. If you have a premium capacity license (NOT PPU), then you need only one Pro license to publish and maintain the reports. Power BI Desktop application is free. So, one person who will have a Pro license can publish all the reports.
@@BIConsultingPro Thanks for the reply. yes, thats what I meant, we need Pro license to publish, sometimes to develpop as well (if data source is published dataset, or dataflow, etc). If a person/account can manage all publishing then one license would be enough, however i think that would not be the case most for most of the organization. Thanks for creating great contents and sharing knowledge.

lets say I have 100 users who only need to view the reports. Instead of buying 100 licenses, Can I buy 1 license, and embed these dashboards to an app, and provide app access to 100 users.
I believe the cost would be 10 Dollars. Does this usecaes work ?
No, cost will be with Embedded capacity. You need to get Power BI Embedded license in this case. In my opinion, you should go for Power BI Pro license if you don’t have advanced analytics requirements or go for Power BI Premium Per User for each if you need Premium capacity.
How do we choose P1 , P2 or P3??
P1, P2 or P3 can be chosen based on your work loads. So depends on your load, you choose computing power in terms of vCPUs. If you have huge data load that needs a lot of processing you can go for P2 or P3. Otherwise P1 is sufficient in most of the cases.
