      Man I like your video's, but this choice of sponsor is such a mess. I decided to buy a game from them, was charged undisclosed tax (prices here in NL should be including tax at all time). Then they also made it an automatic payment instead of a one time payment and they refuse to message me back meaning I have to go through the hassle of getting the money back.
      This is all not your fault, but you might want to consider some other sponsors

    Hey, Biffa, it's all coming together nicely! Two pieces of advice today:
    1. Unlock the largest liquid storage. They increase by orders of magnitude so, yes, they take a lot to build but you can have 1 big one in place of 4 medium ones. Put a large one (3x3) in your town centre and have many happy, hydrated beavers
    2. You don't want to cut down ANY of your maple trees - keep them all to get the syrup. Your beavers will really love the maple pastries and it gets used up quick

    • @Dolthra
      @Dolthra Před 2 měsíci +2

      Yeah, cutting down maples should be saved for a last resort, "my colony is going to die without a little more wood!" situation. They're worse than oaks for return on logs per day, but they can give a nice bump in an emergency.

  • @ovearmbrust
    @ovearmbrust Před 2 měsíci +9

    Go for 10-15 large windmills. Then you won't even need the power tower any more. Also, get the large tanks for water storage, 4x capacity vs the medium ones. You can also turn off 3 out of your 4 observatories, one alone will produce more science than you'll ever need.
    Love your Timberborn series! I bought the game because of it.

    Biffa - if you leave your main floodgates at 0.5 (instead of fully open) during wet seasons, you'll leave yourself with a nice deep reservoir at the top which you can slowly let out over time as downstream evaporates. AFAIK the flow for your water wheels will be the same, it will just have a slight lag on startup when wet seasons start.

    • @squallloire
      @squallloire Před 2 měsíci +4

  • @BrokenCurtain
    @BrokenCurtain Před 2 měsíci +12

    Beavers consume between 2 and 3 rations of water each day.
    So if you're unsure if your colony will make it through a drought, just multiply the number of your beavers with 3 and then multiply it with the length of the drought. That'll give you the number of water rations needed to survive the drought without using all of it, so you'll have some reserves that can be used for things like irrigation.

    I'd definitely go for the large windmills, but I'd run them along the power lines, they have a 4 way junction built into them so they will transmit the power through. Helps maximise the space usage and saves you having to build a massive power line up to the edge of the map (at least for now).

The paths are all marked red, wich means the beavers have to run too many miles for their foods and drinks, hence the constant icons on their heads. You have an option for unlocking districts (the starry icon in the middle). Bit tricky to set up, but when done correctly, the supplychain will shorten and they will work faster.

    Windmills produce the same amount of power anywhere, so maybe build some large ones. I normally need more than 4 gravity batteries in my playthroughs though :P
    You can now unlock the giant Wearhouse and Liquid tank storage, they are great for storing massive amounts of resources so your colony never goes hungry or thirsty! The tanks need metal blocks though.
    You will need science after you start producing bots, as you will need to unlock the ability for bots to work at most of the buildings before they can actually work there.
    Anyway, congrats on the nice first playthrough, aside from a few rough edges I think you've done well Biffa!

This time you only need to make platforms (triples) beside it in a line away from it and connect them to the 1st tower. 2 wide so you have a path in to build to the end, then remove the path as you make the batteries on the Other side on the way back.
    Hope that was clear enough. It will save you a lot of resources, and be built faster...

    Any thoughts about Mods? There are some good ones out there which are pretty easy to install. Like Ladders, which are stairs but without a direction and stackable, though they are more than twice as expensive as stairs and block one direction, the other 3 and all 4 at the top are fully accessible instead of just 1 at the bottom and 1 at the top. You also cant just build a tower of them, and have to build something next to it for the beavers to stand on every 2 levels. There is also one that lowers power consumption for buildings that are not running by 90%, a bit strong but realistic.
    Or the one I think you might like to play with, automated floodgates which lets you set what buildings that interact with water do during floods, badtides, or temperate seasons, meaning you can pause them when bad seasons start and unpause them when the regular season resumes automatically. This also grants you 3 levels of control for Floodgates, letting you set their height at the start of each season, or on timers if you fancy that, or you can link them to water level monitors and make them open when levels get to low or close when they get to high, or close when any contaminated water is detected (though you likely need 2 different disconnected gate walls to control both level and contamination fully)

    Many episodes after saying he would narrow the channel to improve the power production from the wheels, Biffa still hasn't done it. It's a relatively low cost for a big increase in power output, much cheaper than sticking on more wheels.

    never build more than one observatory. It's overkill.
    I also like to keep the inventors for looks. I like the houses with the spiny thingies on top :)

    Low efficiency in the Observatory is due to the LOOOONG travel distance between home, food and water... so the Observatories arent being fully staffed for the full duration of production. If you move them closer to the town center where everything else is then productivity will skyrocket and youll only need 2 Observatories and always have stupid amounts of science.

    Why not keep the water in the reservoir behind the first floodgates so you can fill up during a drought?

    no need for so many berries do very little, also max the hauling numbers but lower priority..... that way always have jobs to be filled by new beavers

    Pretty sure you can’t have constant Badwater flow with Folktails. Honestly thought it was a bug in my game last night. Been playing a lot of Iron Teeth since Update 5. It does specifically say you must place a “Badwater discharge” to keep it flowing during a drought.

    Water ain't an issue if you have such a buffer with the giant pool if you don't pause the pump stations.

    If you prioritize everything for haulers, nothing is prioritized for haulers!!!
    Haulers already move raw materials and finished goods in preference over laborers.

    Bad water discharge for power

    Your next priority shoud be more power. Atm you only have about 1K going into the batteries wich most likely won't be enough to fill up before the next drought.

    I would look into getting the second district and the windmills
    Waterwheels are to reliant on moving water
    Get enough windmills and you could destroy the gravity battery

    Watch out that food production. If it's not maxed out for inventory you are getting close to running out of food. Only potatoes and berries left.
    Add more farm land to beef it up.

    Given that you already mentioned a next playthrough, next time add some Mods :P
    Mod io has a pretty good selection of mods for Timberborn mods.
    I typically only use a handful of standard mods for my playthroughs:
    ModManager (for easier management of mods)
    Ladders (Stairs are a bit of pain some times)
    SimpleFloodGateTriggers (just to automate the bad tide mitigations mainly)
    Vertical Power Shafts (similar to ladders, having a straight vertical option is useful)
    Flywheels (look better than the gravity batteries and can take up less space)
    Power Shaft Extensions (more options for power shafts)
    Clutch (good for bulk turning off power usage during droughts)
    Unstuckify (for those silly beavers that get themselves stuck)
    And then depending on the playthrough and look n feel that I'm going for:
    Big Signs
    Modular Roofs
    Path Extention
    More Platforms
    Choo! Choo!
    Rail Extention
    Dutch Windmill
    Ferris Wheel
    Frog Statue
