- This week, I'm all about the Carnivore Diet. My husband and I are trying it, based on some encouraging information we've read and seen. Have a look at the channels below for some great, in-depth information on it -- that's what we're doing :)
Oh, and YES, we're still making cooking videos during this time.

Thank you! I keep all my recipes there, but I need to post a bit more.
Best of luck Dot! I can't wait for the updates. With my kitchen down for the better part of 4 months (and around the Holidays no less), my wife and I found ourselves eating out quite a bit. Hence, we've put on a couple (probably more than 2..lol) pounds. Wine has been our Achilles heel. Now that the kitchen is finely done (completed Jan 3), we definitely need to get "back on track".
Wine is my Achilles! The nice thing with carnivore is that the cravings for the nectar of the gods is gone. Glad to here your kitchen is up and running!
papa Gs i miss your videos !!!! cant wait to see you again !!!!! happy new yrs !!!
Hi Dot, you are such an inspiration for me. With your recipes and encouraging videos, I lost 25 pounds over the last year with your low carb recipes! Lately though, over the last few months, Iâve gained back some, too much to ignore anymore. So I went back to your very first videos to reset and learn how to do low carb again. These videos and recipes are so informative and positive! Iâm starting over again with what worked for you and me. Good luck Dot, you are truly genuine.
Well thank you and good luck!
So excited you are trying carnivore. I have been "sort of" carnivore for a few of weeks. For the first week, I was strictly carnivore. Then my mother, who was upset with me for going keto, came to spend a week with me. I had finally just gotten her to accept keto, and I knew she would totally freak out at carnivore, so I added back in lettuce and cabbage so she wouldn't know. I know I'm a grown woman, so this is ridiculous, but it just wasn't worth the conflict. I get weary of trying to educate people.
Ugh, I know just what you mean. Which is why I never argue with people in the comments. If they're so intractable that they come to the comments and tell me I'm gonna die if I eat something, I simply ignore them, or block them if they're abusive. I need to do a video where I read negative comments -- everyone loves those lol.
Please do!
Happy Birthday Dot!! Looking forward to seeing how this works for you. Love your videos. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much! :)
Looking forward to your updates. Thank you so much. Keto 17 months down 108 lbs. 2.4 away from goal. Loving this journey and how well I feel. 40th wedding anniversary in August, we are planning a trip to the Oregon coast.
That is awesome news about nearing your goal and congrats on 40 years! That is impressive.
Hey Dots, I'm happy to see you posting on CZcams. I miss you and I keep you on my prayers. You have a wonderful day đđ. Thank you for video đ
Thank you

Good for you Dot. I too want to go carnivore. Was supposed to on Jan 1st, but didn't. Gotta finish stuff off. My husband is on board too.
It would be great if you post what you eat throughout the week. Best of luck?
What I eat is a video we are planning. Good luck when you try it.
Excited to see how you do Dot! Happy Belated Birthday too!
May they all be belated! And thank you :)
Dot, I too am doing a two week challenge from healthy keto to carni to rev up my weight loss. Was at a stall x 3 mos. 5 day in and I've lost 3 more lbs, this is soo exciting!! Keep us posted!! Happy first your husband's improved health!!
Wonderful!
Carnivore really helped me as well. I have several hernias and the gas and bloating was curtailing most of my daily activities. I have low stomach acid as well. I had had three UTIs in 9 months with three rounds of antibiotics and ended up with SIBO. I added some other supplements to my diet and stuck with carnivore for about three months and I began to feel much better - less bloating and cramping. I lost about 18 pounds in the three months. My fasting glucose also dropped down into the "normal" range for the first time in over 30 years. I have been reintroducing very low carb veggies and my system is tolerating them very well. Hope your journey yields many positive results as well.
Wow, Chris, that's great!
Chris, my doctor told me to buy betaine hydrochloride to raise stomach acid with every meat meal. It helps digest meat. I have SIBO as well, going carnivore was the only way I could fix it.
Thanks @@tomjones2157, I take HCL with pepsin with any meals and I found that Olive Leaf, Pau d'Arco and Apple Pectin seemed to really help as well. Thanks for your reply. I can now tolerate some carbs with fiber, but I agree, carnivore along with HCL helped a lot. Best of luck to you.
Happy birthday! And I just canât get past the idea of losing the veggies. You know the wheel that shows every veggies benefits....
Thank you for the B-day wishes. I understand your point as I love my veggies too. While I miss them, it actually gets easier as I'm only cooking one thing for dinner and no sides -- less clean up is always a good thing!
Dot2Trot's Low Carb Living well was interested as hubby has ibs but he wonât even do keto, and wonât eat red meat anymore as doesnât like taste. Canât afford grass fed so..... can not imagine just a slab of meat.lol
Hi Dot. I finished WOBO (week of burger only) yesterday. I weighed and measured the day I started and again this morning. lost 8.8 pounds and about 4 inches overall (not sure if I trust my measuring skills lol); I can see a difference in the way my clothes fit. Wishing you and hubby a good experience with carnivore.
Congrats! That is awesome.
Did you have a set amount of burger you ate each day or just as much as you needed to feel full?
Patty Sisk- hello. I was participating in the challenge on Ketomadâs CZcams channel. I was aiming for 1.5-2 lbs per day, but I ate until full. A couple of days I ate more, but as the week went on it ended up being about 1 pound per day. I started off with a 10-lb tube of beef which I thought I would finish in a week, but I have about 2 lbs left. I did eat fast food burger patties a couple of times since I was away from home.
Happy Birthday Dot !
Good luck with the carnivore diet đ !
Day 8 of my fast .
Excellent video !

Thank you
Best of luck on the fast, but I bet you don't need it :)
O yes I fell off the wagon from thanksgiving to New Years eve. I just started ketoing in July, I weighed 320lb. Just before thanksgiving I was down to 254 and New Years eve back up to 281, last night I weighed 257. Thank you for all that you share . I really like your recipes, you don't use a lot exotic hard to find ingredients. I'm trying to heal my body ( hip, knee and lower back) with autophagy.
So glad you're doing this. I'm really interested as I have diverticulosis and my husband has ulcerative colitis. I've been toying with the idea of doing the 30 beef diet for a while now. I will be watching your progress with baited breath. Yes, please do some cooking video for us. What cuts of beef are you using and are you buying grass fed and organic? Is bone broth included in your diet. This is so exciting!!
Check out Frank Tufano on youtube for more info on carnivore, he goes in depth with the diet.
Am working on some cooking videos and hope to have them up next week. As for cuts, we're going with fatty cuts: ribeye, rib roast, ny strip, skirt steak, beef ribs, as well as ground beef. But this week we are trying some pork belly and possibly wings -- depending on how the husband does. As for grass fed vs. grain fed beef, we're doing grass fed when budget allows. Between us we're talking about 4-8 lbs. of meat a day. That adds up. Ground beef is a big help here. We are including bone broth too.
@@Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving I loved you video on how to make chicken bone broth - who could forget that famous pedicure you gave the chicken feet! I have made it several times since and it is delicious. However, I have never been able to make a tasty beef bone broth. Hopefully you will have some time to make us a video on this for us. Perhaps roasting the bones first would help give it some flavor?
@@DivinelyBlessed718 Thanks, I am going there now!
pedicure -- lol! Beef broth: that's always been in the plans and need to :)
I think I would like to try this. I wish my husband would do Keto as well, but...nope. It is just a little harder by myself as we have date night on Fridays. Thanks for the info, it inspires me.
Find a nice steak house (for you). Tell them not to bring any garlic toast to the table and you'll be fine!
Yeah, date night is definitely hard. You sit there and say, "I'll have the steak." They say, "What would you like on the side?" and you have to say "A napkin." :)
Great reply, I will use that next time.
Cool, I'll be watching your videos as well. I love when you do these because you explain and answer so many questions and concerns. Gotta love Dr. Berry and Dr. Baker.
Thanks Teresa! :) I'm trying!
I am already trying Carnivore after being keto for latter part of 2019. I switched because I have been stalled on keto for months. I started Carnivore 10 days ago and I've lost 9 lbs. Yay! Also I am so full I don't snack and have no cravings. I mostly do beef...some pork chicken and fish. I'm doing 30 days and then go to carnivore during the week and keto on weekends. đ
Great post, Dot! Good information!! Eager to see a follow-up video!!
Thank you
Best of luck! I'm so interested to watch your experiment!
I'll definitely check out the link you mentioned.
I'm glad your husband's ibs improved. Mine has that as well:-(.
I'm excited to see recipes, Dot!đ
Oh, I just reverse seared a steak for the first time yesterday, it was fantastic! Try it if you have not before!
Thanks as always for sharing đ„°đ
Haven't tried reverse seared steak. I'll give it a shot this week.
@@Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving
Oh please do, if love to learn you opinions and advice on it!!
We have been struggling for a long time with... Just plain not finding a nice cut of meat! Even if we buy supposedly excellent variety, it ends up being all gristly! a sweet that I cooked last night was actually a 2in hunk of steak that I sliced from a bottom round roast I think? Bulk & On sale so that was a nice budget bonus. Anyway, I think that's a reverse sear makes for a tender, even streak it was so good.
And btw, as I'm listening to your video again, lol, you mentioned not having any cravings. And I just think it's amazing how whenever I further reduce carbs, I have zero hunger, zero cravings. But if I have the tiniest bit of carbohydrate, all of a sudden I start craving again and have unexplainable hunger! And after last night's dinner, here it is 11 a.m., and I have no hunger. ( I usually have breakfast at 1) but even more than that, I'm not having any wonky low blood sugar issues which I periodically have in my fasting. In the morning!!
Ok, looking forward to those meatcipes Dot!đ„°
Oh, happy belated birthday! đ
Would love to watch a video done on your daily meals on full carnivore. My main concern would be the other nutrients our body uses for each system in our body. And how we would get those for our body just eating carnivore. Love Tamson.
I understand that! We are planning videos on what we eat as well as answering questions about nutrients.
@@Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving God Bless you and your husband. Thank you for always caring so much for all your viewers. I'm so happy it is working nice for you. Best of luck on your path of carnivore. Love Tamson.
Good luck with this Dot x
Thanks Beth!
I'm glad you decided to go carnivore. I've thought about it, but not sure it was that easy to do. I would like to know all you are eating. I used to take meds for my diabetes and no longer do after doing Keto, but I have stopped losing weight. I'm wondering if that is getting in the way. I might be able to make a change and see if it gets me losing again. Good luck to you both! Looking forward to your progress.
Thank you and congrats on not taking meds anymore. That is huge! We're working on a video going over what we eat and also budget too! That is a consideration here.
Loved your video! Last month I did carnivore till 4 and was very successful in losing 10 lbs, but when it got close to the holidays and too many temptations I stopped with the plan. But back on Keto now and was thinking about doing that again. Good luck to you! Canât wait to see how it goes!
Start/stop -- I know the feeling. Thanks :)
Yayyy!!! So happy for you 2! The videos you posted are really great sources đI have been doing mostly carnivore as well, it really is the least inflammatory for me. The other keto foods have become "the cheats" lol... I have one for your hubby since he wants to possibly stay with the carnivore if you have not found Tristan at Primal Edge Health yet, him and his wife are an EXCELLENT down to earth people... and his wife Jessica has some really amazing recipes you may like to incorporate. đđ best wishes to you both and I cant wait to see the next few weeks đȘđȘđȘ
Thank you! I'll look them up :)
I'm anxious to hear about your journey on this way of eating.
Different. I am interested to see how you do. Hope it does what you want
For me, it's about helping my hubby. Just easier when both of us try these experiments.
I donât like chicken unless in chicken salad. I donât like pork (except bacon and ribs) unless I cook it with sauerkraut. Beef is okay. I do like fish. I donât eat potatoes, pasta, bread, starchy vegetables or rice because I am a diabetic and those foods spike my blood glucose to 150-180âs and 120âs in the morning. It is usually in the 80âs or 90âs fasting.
Wish you well
Thanks Jennifer đ
Thanks Jennifer! :)
I watch Ken Berry, too. Trying to get my cardiologist to watch him.
Very tough getting people to do just about anything, if you succeed, hats off! :)
Best of luck with your diet. I have always wondered about how Eskimos survived on an all protein and fat diet, yet they do. I am thinking there's a lesson to be learned.
That is the anthropological proof (I think). Then and various other societies.
Very interesting, what exactly are you eating? I can't imagine giving up my veggies...lol. I've been keto for 19 months,I have lost 110lbs,25lbs from my goal.I've been at a Plateau for months and was thinking of something to kick start my weight loss. It's very frustrating.... Hang in there thx
Congrats on the weight loss. We're working on a video to show what a typical day in carnivore land looks like. Basically we're eating fatty cuts of meat (so far ground beef 80/20, ribeyes, NY strips, skirt steak; this week adding pork belly & shoulder, beef ribs, chicken legs). Drinks are water (mostly), coffee with some cream and tea with nothing added. The key is eating until full. If you find yourself wanting a snack or hungry before next meal, then you need eat more during a meal. You really need to know your body.
Start carb confusion if you plateau. Eat low carb for 5 days and on the weekend raise your carbs, the good ones, if you normally have 20 carbs per day go up to 50 even 70 carbs for the weekend then back to normal keto. Gosh you have done so well.
@@Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving Homemade jerky would that be a good snack option for carnivore fasting?
Kelly, have you tried fasting as a way to jump start your weight loss?
Fantastic! You've done great at losing weight!
Please stay on Keto as some suggested a fast to jump start your diet.
Great video and love your channel. I'm currently on Keto and had watched some very interesting CZcams videos about Carnivore...not just with weight loss, but particularly with curing autoimmune issues...Dr. Jordan Peterson, his wife and in particular his daughter are fascinating examples...interviewed by Joe Rogan on CZcams. Anyway, good luck and Happy New Year.
Warren, I'm very familiar with Jordan P. and his daughter, and Joe Rogan :) We're watching the same things! (hi-5)
Happy new year!
Happy Belated Birthday

We are doing carnivore as in all animal no plants. We are eating dairy and whey protein. As much as we liked keto, and we love it, this is the easiest diet we've ever tried. It has been filling without cravings of any kind.
We do use spices, but my husband wants to try just salt. This is very easy and yes, no cravings.
I too would like to see what youâre eating. I did keto for 5 months and then the holiday hit. Want to go carnivore too
BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY... MINE IS JANUARY 2... WE ARE GETTING BACK INTO KETO AFTER THE HOLIDAYS... I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS WAY OF EAT IS GREAT... I love your video. I can't kick the sweets. I have thought about going carnivore to help with it just haven't.
Please do videos of what you eat in a day/week and grocery hauls.
Thanks SO much!
Thanks Diona, will try!
Have you ever considered food sensitivity blood test? I have done it and I was very surprised by the result. It is very hard to to the elimination diet and try to find out what type of nutrition good for you. I had massive bloating issues, inflammation etc. Then I realized everybody ages and metabolizes food differently. It feels like whole world is eating bagels, cheese, milk, butter, eggs, almonds. It gets frustrating but I do what I got to do. I wish you best of luck with your health journey.
Yes as a matter of fact we are looking into that for John. We discovered a new veg that he is allergic too that we didn't expect -- leafy greens. Every time he had them his IBS flared up bad.
Great! I hope he will find answers with the sensitivity test. I would love to watch a CZcams video about his experience after the elimination diet. Itâs a slow process though.
Thanks for posting this video, this is so interesting to me. Do you have any blood sugar issues with only eating protein?
Not yet. But funny you ask, Shawn Baker actually talks about the protein-turn-to-sugar stuff :)
Iâve also taken the January Carnivore Challenge, thus far it has been easy.
My family did it last year for 30 days, I couldn't wait to get back to keto. We're starting again today for 1-2 weeks for elimination purpose. I'll be doing dairy since I know it wasn't a problem. I'm still not doing coffee. Last time I reintroduced foods too quickly so I don't know what's causing inflammation. I'm looking foreword to seeing how y'all do with this
Thanks, Ana. I'm strangely surprised so many people who watch my videos have done this, or are already doing it :)
I need to try it too cause I haven't had that great feeling of appetite suppressant since I first tried keto and I need it. Btw, I've been binge watching your recipes over the past week but I'll have to put those aside cause I'm going to try carnivore. Your thumbnail scared me even though I love tigers (majestic animal).
Hah, sorry to scare you! Don't throw out your food to try carnivore. Maybe binge watch Shawn Baker's videos and Ken B's too, then set up a plan where you finish what you have then ease into it (if you still want to try it after all those videos). Shawn Baker's a bit gruff, so you may have to get used to his personality. I personally like it though :) Cheers!

dot maybe instead of buy grd beef you may be able to get meats cheaper if you buy a whole side of animal and have it pkgd and invest in a grinder ;];];] just an idea oh and get a freezer to hold it all;];];] save you from going to the grocery store ever wk or so;];];] have you considered venisons? like elk moose deer that may help also in the costs;];];] maybe chk out some "wild" meats videos.. reciepes;];];] good luck;];];];]
We're looking at getting 1/2 a cow to fill the freezer :) ty!
@@Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving Hope you will do an unboxing for us when you get your 1/2 cow. The other nice things about using your own grinder are that you know: exactly what is in your ground beef mixture, that you grinder is clean with no remnants of other undesirable meats in it or e-coli, listeria etc., and how old it is by knowing exactly when it was ground. Great idea!!

Yes! Alot of people will be fascinated by this. Glad you suggested it!
Hi Dot good to hear from you sounds like an interesting diet no dairy would be a deal breaker for me otherwise yummy love elaine Lincolnshire uk
There is a version of carnivore that allows all animal products, so dairy is allowed. So it may not be out of your reach :)
I eat Sardines for Omega 3's.
Agreed!
Iâve tried to do 100% carnivores for January but Iâve had a few setbacks already and itâs only 8 days. I have kept it keto friendly. Iâve found the same thing, not hungry for anything.
Setbacks -- ugh. Cake on my birthday :) I know how it goes. Definitely enjoying not being hungry all the time. Not that keto was that way, but carni is far less so.
I never knew it was an option. I might down the road. Does it shock your system if you hit a plateau during Atkins or whatever low carb diet you are on? I love meat but have found one of my favorite go to meals is a taco salad minus the taco shell, so I need a bit of veggies and dairy. To me now, the cheese and bit of salsa are enough to calm my sweets cravings. Look forward to seeing you and your husband success at the end of the month.
Thanks, Michelle. Much like going Keto/low carb, there is an adjustment period. However, in my case, I think being low carb already helped that adjustment period. Not sure if this is universal or just us (but I do think it'd be universal). Great question!
Oh, I think I read your question wrong. I see what you're asking -- does it rock you off plateau. Not sure yet! Hope so, and will report back if I find out :)
@@Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving thank you!!!
My husband and I did carnivore for three weeks last year and we liked it I didn't lose weight but lost fat and he lost a lot of fat and had a really gained a lot of strength we're planning on doing 1 month this year I would stay on it all the time if I could afford it it gets pretty expensive I also did do 10-day fast last year my longest one so far good luck
10-day fast, wow that's a long one. I normally do a 7 day fast January 1, but we did carnivore instead. Most likely that will be in February. Carnivore can be pricey and we're doing a video on that and how we are keeping costs in check.
Dot2Trot's Low Carb Living oh thats great thanks Dot cant wait for that videođ

I'm not an expert in the slightest about carnivore, I'm still learning like you. I'd probably do my best to nix the energy drink though, unless a real authority on it (Dr. Shawn Baker, for example) says "Yeah that's fine." Sorry I couldn't help more ... :)

@@Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving Thank you Dot, He's doing a lot better now so hopefully he'll be okay. Just very worrying x
What about scurvy?
Dot could you talk about maybe any symptoms that you may notice that you don't have any longer? I have been kept for about a year and a half but still have some pain in joints, etc. Would love to know what you've noticed if anything.
I've noted the question and will try to answer, thanks :)
Karen I had joint pains lessen on keto by 50 - 90% depending on the day, but still there. I changed to carnivore and now its gone by 90 - 95%. The joint pains come back if I eat dairy or plants.
Hi dot are you not worried that eating too much protein is bad for ketosis and will put your keto diet out?
You can still lose weight if not in ketosis. You can still be in ketosis, at times, on a carnivore diet. 3 days into it and I was in light ketosis. It comes down to how frequently a day you eat, how much you eat, etc. Not worried :)
What are you doing for fiber?
No additional fiber. In some of the videos, they talk about fiber. I think Ken Berry had one just about it, how he believes it isn't necessary on a carnivore diet.
Can I still fry my meat in butter ?
We do, as it's called for. There's some wiggle room on carnivore (depending on who you ask lol).
I fry mine in duck fat as I don't do dairy. But other people fry their meat in butter just fine!
