What do you think of this? I'm the originator of the following theory and I think it should be done!
I believe they may have added in the adsence of Maelor as a storyline. Hear me out Maelor being unborn at this time, then Aegon flying to Rooks Rest and what we believe happens to him actually happens; significantly weakens his claim. In turn this will create an issue in the line of succession. As people may speculate that Aegon will be able to produce no more heirs leading to the same problem occurring all over again. People speculate that Aemond is the father of Jhaerys, what if they've done this to show that Maelor is the son of Aemond. He will step in 'do his duty' as he claimed he would on Driftmark and father Maelor on Helena to strengthen the claim to the throne. I think they might do this though, as people have been speculating and it will be a magnificent addition and add the element of show don't tell. I hope this makes some semblance of sense. To add to this, It will also go to show how the Greens only see women as brooding mares and not to be placed in the line of succession. I am aware that Aegon III doesn't rule with Jaehera, but still. I've struck gold and if the writers have done this to intentionally set this up then they did it well.
Aegon trashing his father's model of Valyria is such a foreshadow of him basically destroying the Targaryan legacy. The whole reason why they left Valyria is totally gone to ruin over unchecked emotions and lack of communication. At this point, their purpose is totally lost.

11:27 as a long time book reader i never thought about it until now that Dreamfyre is on the opposite side of the conflict as her offspring, Caraxes and Meleys, and this episode Syrax also lost her offspring, Arrax so both her and Rhaenyra were mouring in that scene. Just makes the story that much more tragic

We could definitely say that. If it wasn't for his power hungry ways, we might not have been in this situation. But then Viserys would've married Laena, and Corlys would definitely have started a war to put his grandchildren on the throne. So you never know. In the scene where Daemon was talking to Blood and Cheese, they ask Daemon “what if we cant find him (Aemond)” and then the scene cuts. So isnt it implied that Daemon said to kill the other son as a plan B?

it's somewhat implied, but one prefers the book version where the targeting was deliberate since Aemond took to raiding the Riverlands on Vhagar and couldn't be found.

Good to see Raised by Wolves Abubakar Salim playing Alyn of Hull. Really annoyed me they cancelled this show after two seasons. Leaving us fans with so many unanswered questions😢
That pissed me off as well. While the show had its flaws, there was nothing else remotely like it on television. High-concept, genuinely strange, original sci-fi properties are not super common -- and I'm afraid they will become increasingly rare.

Yes! I was wondering where I knew him from. Thank you! It sucks they cancelled it with absolutely no resolution or answers. It was a slow moving show but so interesting and compelling and creepy! I felt like it was just getting it's legs and then they chopped them off. I hope Ridley Scott makes a movie or a special to give us answers, but I think it was just abandoned. 😭

Aegon destroying the model of Valyria is interesting. The Hightowers are one of the oldest houses of Westeros, preceding both Andal and Targaryen invasions. So for Aegon II who is half Hightower to be destroying a symbol of the Targaryen's history is really significant, I think. The Targaryens and their dragons being significantly weakened because of native Westerosi is poetic.
Targaryens got weakened by their won fault. They fell into stupid tribalism and then killed each other until there were no dragons left.

By law Aegon is the true king. The Targaryens destroyed themselves because Viserys named Rhaenyra heir but then decided to have children with stronger claims to the throne than her. And instead of trying to raise them as a family he spoiled Rhaenyra all the time while not caring his other children. It also happened, because Rhaenyra, Alicent, Daemon and Otto fueled the split within the family and their children became victims and products of it. It didn't need to happen but Viserys, Otto, Daemon, Rhaenyra and Alicent made sure of it.
I just watched it and im abit dissapointed with blood and cheese. In the books, they have both healena and alicent tied up. The ordeal of healena having to choose between her kids is supposed to go on relentlessly for hours. The kids themselves are not supposed to be twins but one older son and one younger son. When healena finally chooses, she chooses her younger son. For blood and cheese to say to the younger son "did you hear that boy? Your mama wants you dead" all for them to turn around and behead the oldest son instead. I.e killing the son she chose to save. I dont feel that they delivered on the pure ruthlessness of the scene from the book. Im not talking about the more gory details but they could have invested more into the scene. It felt rushed over and not as impactful as it should have been.
The books are narrated by unreliable sources. Of what people thought happened many times.
The show is the Canon.

@@mudza92 yes, I think the way they did it was fine, just not as good as it could have been. That potential line about "your mommy wants you to die" before killing the other one is one of the greatest literary twists a la the Red Wedding (which was better imo).

Many might see it as insignificant but I am excited for the Bracken-Blackwood feud. The little guy is actually grown to be a very impressive man. Idk if he's there or not but I think his son and the winter wolves are the ones responsible for Cristen Cole's death in the book. They said the Blackwood(I don't remember his name) were a great warrior.

the "little guy"actually dies before the Butcher's Ball, but his 11 year old son takes charge of his house and together with his aunt rain arrows on Criston Cole and his men.
The episode was good I had to take a little break at the beginning I am a mother who lost a son with whom I watched GOT and he didn’t get a chance to finish the last season the scene with Rhaenyra crying over the her son at the beginning was to real for me but overall it was a good episode

Something I noticed in the scene with the dragon eggs is the details in the background - warm climate types of plants, and light beige rocks. Maybe Pentos or Dorne?
Perhaps they are Daenerys eggs? The ones she will get later if that's true. giving us a family tree for her mistreated dragon children (still mad).

One thing I didnt realize while watching the first season before i read fire and blood is that everyone is related except for the hightowers. Aemma Arryn is cousins with Viserys and its very interesting to see how all of their ancestors made their house so divided
So as far as timelines go
Brackens vs Blackwoods are going to be in episode 2 (As their fight happened before Duskendale and Rooks's Rest). Duskendale might be in episode 2 as well, but later than the Brackens and Blackwoods and then starting episode 3 with Rooks Rest.
Rook's rest is in episode 4

So excited to have seen episode 1 as well as the rest of the season. House Targaryen is so powerful that division amongst themselves was the only way for it to fall. The intro theme immediately hypes you up. I forgot for a moment creepy Lord Larys is the bio uncle to Rhaenyra’s first sons. 😅

15:47 looks like some Lannister punishment 💀 looking like another Lannister named Jamie
Cole smashed both Queens but if it wasn’t for The real Queen pulling his card then this war never really begins. Cole has her honor questioned when they hook up and he spills the beans due to his jealousy and lust. After that Alicent and Rhaenyra are never the same with each other.
Cole then proceeds to nurture and finally help push the change in succession. Then as the story continues his influence grows and he shapes the rest of the war for the greens and it’s all about destruction. All because Rhaenyra couldn’t be with him and he was obsessed with her. I believe he’s still obsessed but he’s now obsessed with her destruction.
He deserves his dishonorable death because he lost his honor long ago. He got what he deserved but he did become a Kingmaker and he rose higher than anyone in his family before or since. He’s one of the few true villains of the show. Everyone else for the most part has shades of grey. I mean even Aemon has that moment after he eats his nephew and dragon where you can see the regret. They lost control of the dragons and it wasn’t intentional. After that moment Aemon just goes all in.
We are just beginning to see Coles true evil and path of destruction.
Great episode can't wait for next week 💯

Do you not think the clutch of eggs could possibly be the eggs that were Daenerys? There’s one red, one gold, and one green. Same colors as her dragons/dragon eggs. There’s a forth but that also could be the egg of the smallest dragon that hatched with the other 3 laying dormant. Just a thought.
I wonder are we going to see Cregan Stark again this season? In the book after his meeting with Jace we don't see him again until the very end of the dance? Surely they want to use the actor for more than just five minutes at the start of the first episode? Also was a little disappointed with the blood and cheese scene it was so much better in the book but great episode overall!

the lady in red from the trailer was also one of the maids helping rhaenyra during her still birth after she found out her father had died

It was not a coincidence that color of 3 of those eggs are the exact color of Drogon's Egg, Viserion's Egg, and Rhagal Egg. Now we know that it was originally 4 eggs and Dany only received 3. I would have been nice if she hatched all 4 or at least hatched the blue one. I bet all but the blue egg will be the eggs that are stolen and later gifted to Dany as a wedding gift. This is the very 1st time that any dragon eggs were shown in such detail and color, and One thing about Thrones they drop easter eggs constantly and I know for sure it will prob be revealed in Ep 2 that those eggs belongs to Dreamfyre which we all know is the mother of Dany's dragons.

@emergencyawesome - That woman wearing the red cloak who some people think could be Melisandre is one of the women attending on Rhaenyra in the final episode of season 1, when Rhaenyra miscarries. To this end, I reckon she is sent as a spy by Mysaria to the capital on some sort of errand.

I don't get why showrunners try to "whitewash" Damien's character in show... Also, why would they straight up cut Nettles's story? She was really important to the book plot... Certainly, to the dragon lore - since she was a first commoner to tame and ride a wild, previously unrideless dragon... (because there were speculations in the book about other commoner riders to be of Targarien bastard blood, since they all have white hair)
I hope they don't give all of her story to Rhaena...

i hate how they took away the choice from the blood and cheese murder. the whole point was that they made her choose who lives -_-
That kid (Maegor) does not exist in the show (at least not yet), they weren't going to make her choose between the twins
@@alibrasworld yes and that was a choice the showrunners made. It takes away most of the point of why blood and cheese is so cruel. They make wierd choices. Daemon is supose to be at harronhall during this, but once again the showrunners decide to make him more of a villian then the source material too. Just odd choices to change the source material
was really thrown off by Alyn's appearance as i always imagined him much younger than Abubakar Salim. hes not even an actor that looks young for his age, he looks old af for his age. hope he and whoever plays adam pull it off, they were both great characters, especially the loyal Adam Velaryon
Hopefully, it is not as slow paced as episode 1. All of that waiting for what felt like an anti climatic episode. The Red Wedding will forever be the pinnacle.

Good stuff! ...I find it hard to believe this bit in the upcoming epsiode, about Rhaenyra not being able to trust Daemon. I mean like when did she or anyone, ever trust him. I can believe in her grief, that she blurts out, give me Aemond. But Daemon is a wild card. She should know well by now that whenever she plays the Daemon card, anything can and will happen. It is ultimately Rhaenyra's fault what happened to Helaena's son. Rhaenyra needs a Hand like Otto. But even if she had that, Rhaenyra always has to worry about what will Daemon do.
