When Ben Affleck was cast to play Batman, many fans responded with outrage. And his movie, the faceoff with Henry Cavill’s Superman in Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice left a lot of fans divided. And while we won’t say the movie was perfect, Ben Affleck’s take on the character was. Zack Snyder and Affleck collaborated to bring us a version of the dark Knight we hadn;t seen before. Someone broken, teetering on the edge of collapse.
In this video, we break won why Ben Affleck is our favorite live-action Batman. And it’s not because of the guns (we hate the guns). He even ekes out Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, and the other bat-men from movies past. As Matt Singer said, this is a good Batman. In bad Batman movies.

I want to talk about Ben Affleck’s batman. Now I’ve spent a lot of time dunking on Zack Snyder’s DCEU films, because his take on Superman was misguided and wrong.
But, I love his version of Batman. Ben Affleck brings an intensity to the role that no other actor has been able to match-and I think he’s high in the running for Best Batman of all time. I’m going to explain what went wrong, and the many, many reasons I think he stands above his fellow Waynes. Right up until Martha. That’s unforgivable.
First, let’s talk about the other live action Batman actors. The ones who played him as an adult, not a kid.
Adam West was fun. He understood he was in a live action comic strip, but he approached all of the goofiness around him with a deadpan nature that grounded this silly world.
Michael' Keaton brought detachment, and broodiness. He was the original sad Batman. Val Kilmer struck a lion between the fun and broodiness, while George Clooney-well. As Matt Singer says, he realized that he looked ridiculous, but never embraced it the way Adam West does.
Bale was arguably the best batman. But Bruce Wayne was always looking for a way out, like Batman was his last resort.. For him, being The Batman was a burden. For Affleck, being Batman was a way for him to release his burdens on the underworld of Gotham. This is a Batman who is addicted to being Batman. This life is all he has left, and he’s let it consume him.
Jake ray Jr on twitter points out that Bale was really playing three characters-Batman, Bruce, and playboy Bruce. While Ben Affleck is playing a single, bitter, angry, asshole.
I think that Batman Vs Superman gets Batman very, very right, and Superman is very, very wrong.
So let me explain why I love this version of Batman.
A New Kind of Batman
First of all, I have to plug how much better the extended edition of Batman vs Superman is. It gives way more context for why these two fights, presenting us with the viewpoints of ordinary [people scene where guy says he’ll get you, I’ll find] So when I talk about Affleck’s Batman, I’m talking about the one we see in this version.
Since 1989, we haven’t gotten many variations of Batman on screen. For many fans, the definitive version is from the 90s animated series, which refined the Gothic vision of Tim Burton’s films. Apart from Clooney, they’ve all followed this template. A haunted dark knight with a heart of gold.
Maybe by 2016 audiences were a little tired of Batman movies, so we got a Batman who was tired of being Batman.
Gomez Andromeda on twitter makes a good point: I think most people forget that all Snyderverse heroes were meant to be a bit broken when we met them, so they could have a reason to form JL because together they were stronger.
And DC’s Joshua Lapin wrote: [Affleck] portrayed a Bruce Wayne who had hit rock bottom and eventually found his way back into the light.
The dark knight rises gave us an older Batman, but he was mostly grieving the loss of Rachel, and the city had moved on without him. That movie’s batman is kind of like scotty returning to the enterprise-he just feels outdated and useless.

“Tell me - do you bleed?” That’s something Batman would say. Frank Miller’s Batman, that is. Batman fighting Superman is really something to behold, showing that superior tactics will *always* win out. That warehouse fight at the end, it’s the best Batman fight committed to screen. Bruce is the only one with an arc in BvS, and the Snyder Cut shows him working to right a wrong.
That's the best line I've ever heard on a batman movie.
@@DidYouRunAway Hell yeah.
Only one with an arc? I think all the main characters in BvS UE had an arc beautifully executed
@@outcastmotion Yes. The only one with an arc. That’s - *why* - i said it. I stand by it, too. I’ll have some fun with ya though - instead of just arbitrarily disagreeing with me, i want you to explain to me what Clark’s arc was? Explain it to me like i’m a 4yr old.
@@Adarkane325xi Well simple… Snyder displayed a Superman who is weighed down by the burden of his power and responsibility, is unsure of his place in our world more than we’ve ever seen onscreen. A Superman who has been debated, who has been protested against, who has been cast out and decried by humanity - this is the Superman who takes up the banner for the human race, who firmly says this is my world, then sacrifices himself to save that world. He inspires the world and restores Bruce’s faith in humanity, also showing Diana that not all of humanity is lost. That’s one hell of an arc itself.

Personally, if only we spends a whole solo Affleck Batman movie first before BvS, his actions would be more tolerable. It will perfectly sets the tone for an older cynical Batman
The comic leading im was phenomenal
That is the Batman most of us have been clamoring for for decades. His boy scout mentality and refusal to kill has actually plummeted Gotham into further chaos. Peacemaker even brought it up because it has been in the Zeitgeist for a long time. Batman's ideology is a joke lol
@@blaze556922 and as if him going kill-mode would have fixed Gotham. Gotham is a wonderful anomaly, with so many crime lords, it's a miracle it even stands like it is now.
Also, Batman could kill, he just doesn't want to. What makes you think someone that owns jets, tanks and many potential dangerous gadgets, masters various martial arts couldn't kill someone in an instant?
Hell, i would accepts Batman kills in the upcoming Pattinson's Batman. What irks me on Batfleck is how sudden he is to go kill-mode. We assume that this is Bruce that's somewhat similar to what we used to get, from BTAS to Bale's. Snyder never gives us enough time to show the process on how this Bruce can be so cynical, jaded, and violent. He just gaves us ruined Robin's suit with Leto's dumb "ha ha ha" paint sprayed on it and expecting us to roll with it.

Zack Synder has explained he never got to finish each characters arc. Superman was eventually going to become the symbol of hope over the next few movies, and Batman had already grown by the end of ZSJL. That's the problem with pulling the pin on the franchise before it was finished, we only got to see the first little part of the overall plan. He also wanted to do a flashback showing Robin's death at the hand of Joker, which would have given Batman's attitude in BVS more context.
That's not how movies work. You can't make a three movie series, botch a primary character, and get excused because they were going to be right by the fourth or Fifth movie.
@@captainjefferies9047 so iron man is kinda shit
@@shadowaccount8620 Not outside your head.
@@captainjefferies9047 I mean it took 10 years for iron man's arc to be complete so what's wrong with snyder superman. Hell if you want to go deeper Toby stark is somewhat the same person in iron man 2. So was superman in BVS somewhat the same character unlike Tony who wanted to live life until he died. Superman was questioning if he should be superman because well people hate him for his existence.
@@shadowaccount8620 His arc took four years to complete but he was a perfect representation of Iron Man by the end of the first movie.
What's wrong with Snyder's "superman" is that he's a coward who sits out major world disasters when he could help. He doesn't care about the random innocent casualties he causes crashing into buildings. He's not educated. He's not funny. He's not even big enough.
Iron man is supposed to be self involved and petty. Superman isn't.
While filming for chasing Amy. Ben picked up a DKR comic sleeping on Kevin smiths couch. Said this is the Batman I want to play. He got it, but in the wrong universe.
I wish Snyder would have had Bruce's dad yell "Martha " during the pearl scene then everytime Bruce wakes up in the movie, we hear his dad's scream which wakes him up. That way when we hear "Martha" from superman, we all feel the jaw as he does.
That would be an interesting foreshadowing
These movies weren't capable of that kind of Storytelling
Ehhhh, Idk. That didn't seem necessary. Zack did a good job showing us how his parents death was always still on his mind. It made sense to me the way it happened.
It’s funny Batman’s parents were Negan and Maggie from the walking dead.
@@UCanGetWitThisOrUCanGetWitThat I agree it was there but most of the audience was just like huh? I'm just saying basically change nothing but a louder martha scream for the dad and then the audience hears a portion of it the 2 or 3 times we see Bruce wake up. The audience would feel it more.
So my first exposure to Batfleck was the extended cut and I fell in love. To me; my memory of the movie wasnt tarnished bc of the first cut. Always my favorite
Best part of Snyder's Batman were the premonitions -- Adam West had these moments too, where he would stare off into space and see things nobody else did. When he said his superpower was that he was rich, he didn't mention he was a genius inventor, incredibly focused, and always better trained/prepared than any of his opponents. It is as if he always had a hunch about what tools should be in his utility belt before he got in a fight. Affleck's Batman lies all the time, which is another aspect of all Batmen. Knives and throwing bat-o--rangs are really more lethal than guns; I'll beat 'em up but I won't kill 'em I'll leave for Saturday morning 1970s cartoons. Alfred wouldn't bring a knife to a gun fight.
Batman isn't a genius inventor. He's a good engineer and chemist.
I wish that instead of giving us this older, worn down, somewhat corrupted Batman at the beginning of the franchise we had gotten to see the world drag him down over several films. I think that would have had people more on board with seeing Batman killing people because we've been watching his decline over several films. Instead of "dude, yall got Batman so wrong!" it would have been "holy crap he's really hit rock bottom now, oh damn!"
Watching Kevin Conroy's depiction of the 'rock bottom version' of batman during the CW's crisis episode of Batwoman (batman lite 2.0) puts this in context and was my only take-away from those shows. Would be cool to see a movie or mini-series of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the Thomas Wayne alternate version of Batman
All the other live action Batman killed too.
@@UCanGetWitThisOrUCanGetWitThat yes but a. That's more inconsistency than deliberate story choice and b. They didn't have the burden of being definitive for a live action universe. Which batfleck did. Kinda like how no one would criticize 1978 iron man if he wasn't a smartypants, but would have done so with rdj
Dude, how many times do we need to see Batman's origin or bright years on film? Everyone knows Batman's history and story at this point and redoing it would just be repeating TDK trilogy and previous Batman films even Keatons to an extent. If you understand via watching Man of Steel that the character is built in a world very similar to the real world and touches in the idea of unresolved trauma and hatred manifesting in the character. Effectively Batman is a representation of mankind's distrust in a Superman (alien whom is as terrifying as he is all good) and Robin being murdered in the film as well as his demeanor says how he feels. I really wish people would open their minds to different interpretations of a character and not write it off because it doesn't follow the previous accepted formula.

Batman being around for 20 years was a unique idea. Affleck’s iteration is older, more grizzled, and haunted-he’s seen some shit. He’s kind of fed up with trying to play nice, which is why he has such a strong reaction to Superman’s arrival in the first place. He is the most brutal, badass, and comic-accurate Batman we’ve ever gotten on the big screen. We got the same young Batman for decades, but Affleck’s version was a new breath of fresh air, his Batman is also my favorite adaptation on the big screen.
It is perfect because it is a relevant idea. Batman has literally been around in mainstream culture since 89 so we know his deal by now.
The voice modulator has always been one of my favorite aspects the Snyder/Afleck version of Batman. Ever since Batman Begins I've always thought the "gravel" voice was taking it way too far, it's like they were so afraid of being compared to Kevin Conroy and his portrayal of Batman that they went too far in the opposite direction.

Yeah now that I think about and saw all Batman movies in the lockdown he’s the best Batman closest to the comics in looks , strength & charisma.
I agree with almost everything you've said and to me the failure comes down to the question ... who is this Batman for?
People who like Batman from exposure in pop culture, kids, parents, and people drawn in by the other movies are expecting a hero and a symbol of hope. They have no understanding of the backstory and to pull of "broken", they needed to see him break on screen.
For comic fans that follow Batman ... we already have a broken Batman who shows us what happens if he breaks bad, he's a fan favorite, and he even uses gun! So if you want to tell a Red Hood story ... just put Red Hood in the movie. I don't need Batman doing Red Hood roleplay.
Red Hood is crap and should never be in a movie. Resurrection is stupid. batman is brutal, uses guns, commits crimes, and kills people. That's the character.
This Batman is for comic book fans.
If they're looking for a hero and a symbol of hope in Batman, they're living in a delusion because that's not who Batman is. He had always denied being a "hero" and he's never been a symbol of hope at all. He's a vengeance minded vigilante with a server personality disorder who operates outside of the law. No rational person would ever see that as a symbol of hope, lol.
The Batmobile has had guns on it for 30 years, and the only time Batman psychically used a gun to shoot someone in that movie was in an apocalyptic nightmare. You're complaining about nothing, man.

Agreed. His character needs more development before the events in BvS (probably should've started with his version's The Batman first..) so we'd understood why he become this way. Nevertheless, I'm really looking forward for The Batman. From the Interviews, I gather Rob Pattinson's Batman is pretty close to Affleck's take (Bruce's addicted to becoming Batman 24/7).

This I agree with . Nolan’s Dark Knight is my favorite Batman world , but I think I liked Affleck more as the Character. Personally I wish DC stuck with the Man Of Steel aesthetics & vibe for Batman & the following DC movies .
Unpopular opinion /hot take: I'm not really all that upset by the Martha line. On the one hand, I don't remember anybody ever making a big deal out of the fact that Batman's mother and Superman's Earth Mom have the same name. It's a fun detail that I genuinely can't recall ever being called upon in their very long comics history.
I'm also not particularly offended that Superman saying a name that is also the name of Batman's mother would cause him to stop his homicidal rage. I would probably stop what I was doing if someone yelled at me, "Save [insert my mom's name here]!"
Is it the fact that a sheer coincidence is what saves Superman's life from homicidal batman?
It would have been much better had the "Death of Robin" not just been an easter egg. Maybe if there was more mention of how Joker took away a family member of Batman's and then Superman said "Save Martha, shes the last family I have", there couldve been more of an arc where Batman realizes he has become the monster he's devoted his life to fighting. In the original script, it just comes off as Batman going, "Mommy?" and then doing a 180 from hating superman to being his best friend.
@@davidcordero69 Except he never becomes supermans best friend. Its an intelligent move to send superman to deal with lex, a billionaire evil genius while batman deals with thugs holduing his mother hostage. Thats not a strategic move, and its an example of show dont tell. Batman is very smart, he made the right call. Additionally, hes also doing this to serve himself, he was never able to save his own parents, so absolutely body bagging a bunch of thugs taking someone else's mother is redemption for him. He works with superman because he has to, Lex's doomsday is a threat to the world.
It makes absolutely ZERO sense for superman to save my mother. You have to put yourself in Batmans shoes to understand why.
Batman hates superman because he is an alien from outer space who could end all life on earth, he says this word for word, but he also says it when he growls at superman that he was never a god or a man.
Why on earth would batman want to save supermans mom, if superman is a potentially world ending alien, what reason is there to believe his mother isnt another super powered alien? Batman has no idea that superman has human parents/connections. This isnt lazy writing or bad detective work on his end, batman hatched a ploy to lure superman to him, he didnt think superman would even have human ties, his entire anger stems from superman not being human. Batman has no reason to suspect or believe superman has human ties. It doesnt make sense for batman to try to figure out if superman has a human identity, he wants to kill him, and he can kill him regardless of superman having a human identity or not.
Martha is a human name, not the name bruce would think an alien has. When superman says this, not only is it extremely confusing, because superman is asking him to save a human, but when lois tells him its supermans mom, thats when everything clicks. Batman is supermans Joe Chill in that moment, and he realizes that by attacking an innocent man he is letting a human being die, and batman doesnt let innocent people die. Thats why he ultimately spares superman, because he realizes superman, regardless of his origins, considers himself human and has human ties, something batman would never think to suspect because its irrelevant to his plan.
Same bro, same
Except the problem of Snyder's Batman is the fact that he's homicidal. It's not the Martha line that's at the core of the issue people take with this Batman. Its the fact that Batman is even taking this action in the first place and how strong his resolve was only to be stopped by the mention of his mother's name as if he somehow forgot that people have families when he murders them. I get what they were going for but it's meaningless when you contextualize it within the world they created.
I mean Clark is a brand new reporter and immediately understands what's wrong with Batman murdering people. The extended cut of BvS even shows Clark investigating and discovering the families affected by Batman's murders. So, no one has ever brought this up to him before? The entire reason he became Batman in the first place was to help prevent what happened to him from happening to anyone else. At no point in his career would he ever lose focus on why he became Batman in the first place. This is a shit Batman who doesn't resemble Batman of the source material in any way. He's also a shit detective who allowed himself to be easily manipulated by Lex. I like Affleck in the role. Admittedly, the warehouse scene was very well done but this is a shit Batman. Once you make him an intentional murderer, he's no longer Batman.
@@Lockn3s5 read my comment it will clear some stuff up.
You have the point though. This isn't batman. He spends almost the entire movie being the villain. He wasn't easily manipulated by lex, although lex is the smartest man on earth, Bruce already decided to kill superman before lex got involved.
Batfleck costume still the best look by far most comic book accurate. Ben looked amazing 👏🏾 😍
This is why the argument about who was the best is so difficult. It’s so hard to separate the acting from the movie. Affleck was great in bad movies. Bale was decent in much better movies. Sometimes you get movies that give you the best of both, but they are few and far between.
affleck bat is the worst after clooney .the brain dead bat who let that cringe martha scene happened cuz the world's greatest detective forgot to do the background check on the enemy he was about to fight , beat up deadshot in front of his lil daughter in a fricikn ALLEY ,brainless bat who forgot the mother box after superman resurrection and resurrected superman without a contingency plan .yeah best my 🍑. one of the worst written ever 💩
Affleck was great in great movies (BvS and ZSJL) and bad in bad movies (Josstice League 2017) lol
@Erik Kemeey MARTHA
I don't get the criticism towards cavills superman. Ive been a #1 superman fan for over thirty years since I was a little kid. And as an adult this is the superman I've been waiting for all these years. He is flawless in my eyes. Cavill deserves another man of steel film
he was basically a robot. Had 0 character development
I believe the producers of Man of Steel chose to emphasize his fallability as a way to make him more relatable to audiences. The problem was, in the process, they compromised certain character traits that were essential to the character. Making Superman relatable is missing the point entirely.
The whole idea of Superman is to see the best of ourselves or the potential of what we could be. Not in his superhuman abilities, more so in his unapologetic commitment to moral righteousness. He dedicates his life to saving as many people as possible. He does this not only because Earth is his adoptive home and that he feels a responsibility to it. Superman believes we are worth saving, that we have the capacity to be a great people.
His first insight into the potential of humans was his experience being raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent. The Kents took him in as an orphaned baby and loved him as their own. When his amazing powers revealed themselves, Jonathan and Martha chose not to fear and abandon him. The Kents instead chose to protect him, show him compassion, temperance, and respect for himself and others. It was this upbringing that formed his opinion of people and the world around him. Had baby Kal-El been raised by other people, Superman, as we know him, would be a very different character.
He is my favorite Batman and it breaks my heart that his Batman didn’t get his own trilogy. “The accountant” is also one of my favorite movies
Batfleck Will Always be superior. The main reason is that he is the only Batman who never got his own movie yet he stole every scene he was in. He deserves sooooo much more appreciation and love. It's so sad people didn't realise this appreciation before, this has ripped us off a great movie that could have been directed by Ben Affleck himself. A lot of people said that his script was a masterpiece.
Batfleck is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST! Ripped straight from the pages of TDKR comics, the fact that he never got a standalone movie is a crime even the Joker wouldn't dare commit, lol.
Batfleck sucks

Still consider the animated series the best Batman by far. I do agree with The outfit though, I love the grey one and it let's his inner ninja out.
Ben Affleck was the best Batman. He played both Batman and Bruce convincingly. Ben also brought the most physicality to the role. The warehouse fight scene in BvS is the best Batman fight scene ever filmed. Savage.
I agree ben affleck batman was the best Batman to me when I first see him. His fighting style and his knowledge and his gajets are best.
I think Christian Bale is a great actor but I feel Affleck comes off as more convincing Batman and Bruce Wayne. Affleck is the best iteration of Batman so far, regardless of the haters. I loved Michael Keaton too though
What you talking about? Everything about ben's batman is wrong, except the figthing and the dark tone.

I must agree!! Not only was he great acting wise physically he was the perfect casting! No other actor looked as much like the character then Ben does He had everything that we wanted to see in a version of Batman. For me his casting was damn near just as perfect as the casting of Christopher Reeve as Superman meaning that when you see them you see the character immediately and it's a shame that DC/WB screwed it up
i think ben affleck was the best looking physical batman
I don’t know if he will always be my favorite live action Batman but he is by far the best interpretation of the character thus far.
He's a great Batman, probably my favorite. I like the fact he uses guns, while not in line with current incarnation of the character it gives him realism and a dark side, not to mention a nod to the origins of the batman. I really hope we can get more of him because he rocks.
Love these breakdowns, always makes me think differently about things. Keep up the great work!
I wouldn’t call the final fight in man of steel a “numb gray spectacle”. I see it as more of showing how when super man and zod are fighting, there fight is destroying the city and Superman doesn’t notice how his actions are killing thousands and injuring thousands more. Like when zod kicks the tanker truck at Superman and instead of stopping it, Superman jumps over it and lets it explode destroying the building behind him. It shows how the only thing Superman cares about at that moment is stopping zod and saving Lois and that he really isn’t thinking about how his actions are affecting others like how it shows it in Batman vs Superman from Batman’s point of view.
Also he wasn't superman at that point and sadly Snyder never got to explain how superman became - he was the man of steel - he learns from all of that - and later becomes superman.......but many people don't understand that.......it was an origin movie.........let's hope Snyder gets a chance to gain DC back and tell the stories he was wanting too!!!!!!
Exactly. A lot of the destruction in Metropolis can be boiled down to one thing. This Superman is a ROOKIE who was taking on SEASONED veterans of war desperate to rebuild Krypton.
There was no scenario where Clark is able to give any less than his full attention to the threat they posed to Earth. I think ZS actually understood exactly how Superman would evolve into the Man of Steel by the end of the 5 movie ark he planned. He just had to condense everything to the will of WB who ultimately destroyed the Arc he was building

The only reason Affleck is people's "favorite" is because of ONE f*cking fight scene. Everything else is glanced over. That's the truth. His 20+ career is never explored before BVS. Then he was f*cked over in Josstice League. And he is a killer.
i dare u to find someone in the general audience that will say i like Affleck bat . u cant . nobody likes his batman . hes not ppl's favouite
Thank fully Zack Snyders Justice League made up for his appearence in Josstice league
I agree. I think Ben was a great Batman/Bruce Wayne... who unfortunately got bogged down in various ways through no fault of his own. Also, I absolutely love the Bat suit for Batfleck. It's gotta be the best one of all.
I couldn't agree more!! Affleck's Batman was the best!! That warehouse fight scene was utterly brilliant and for me hasn't been topped!! Deathstroke vs. Batman would have been awesome! It's a pity the film wasn't given the chance it deserved!! I hope HBO can do this film into a series!!
I LOVE Ben's Batman too. WB did him so wrong, same with Henry(Super Man). They were both perfectly cast. Unfortunately Ben's own personal demons are a HUGE reason why he's leaving & doesn't want to come back. I think you should've brought this up. They actually want him back, but Ben just doesn't feel confident enough to go back into that deep of a commitment. Aka--why The Flash will be his last venture in the DCEU. Which I agree is sad, but I also feel he needs to do what is best for his own personal life/safety. Health Ledger died wayyyyyyy too soon & wouldn't wish that upon anyone else.
He's back as Batman in the upcoming Flash along with Michael Keaton.
Definitely the best Batman we ever got. His lack of s solo movie makes it hard for most people to accept.
If you like rap, it's the same reason that Andre 3000 is unquestionably crazy talented but often overlooked. It's all for OutKast albums and special guest appearances. Without solo albums, people forget him when discussing Jay Z, Biggie, Tupac, Eminem, etc
I liked Affleck’s Batman. He looked and acted like a seasoned Batman would.
Affleck WAS the best Batman! It would’ve been CRAZY to watch him evolve the character, like RDJ’s Iron Man.
1. Physically (maybe due in large part to the EXCELLENT suits) the best Batman
2. Best Batman voice
3. Best Bruce Wayne.
4. Best action scenes.
5. Only live action Batman among other major DC heroes, and fit like a glove, despite being the dark(est) Batman.
WB wasted their “Iron Man”….perfect cast for the perfect role, and I think the frustration from fans stems from NOT having a 1000000% understanding on why….
I wish Pattenson all the success, but I very much would’ve liked to have seen the potential of a rich Snyderverse.
Advantage: Disney/Marvel
At the start I didn’t like BvS, but its since grown on me. The UE has personally become one of my favourite comic book movies. I honestly think time will be kind to BvS, certainly as a cult classic. There’s a lot to like in there. I think Bryan is halfway to realising that it might actually be a good movie lol
I love bvs ultimate edition. Its a classic

I will never hate this Batman, for he has shown us true comic accuracy. And a lot of Frank Grillo Comic Book references in BvS.
I loved the Martha scene yes it was off putting to hear superman call his mother by her name ,but the idea behind it was so beautiful. Batman at the very point of total destruction , of no return because if he kills superman theres no coming back from it. hearing Martha reminded him why he's batman in the first place it told him hey superman is innocent he has a mother he isn't some devil and the cherry on top, that promise to save Martha.. batman went out that night to save his own mother we all know Bruce carries the guilt of not doing anything to save his parents even though that's unfair he still feels guilty. That scene gets is completely misunderstood

Let's agree to disagree on this one Ryan.
Ryan Arey, your transitions to the ads are top tier.
I liked Batman Vs Superman and Justice. I think he did a great job.
Ben Affleck has no reason to feel disappointed because the truest of Batman comic fans LOVED his work in BvS UE and ZS's JL. The way he looked at the end of Snyder's JL when he is standing next to the rest of the League and staring at Darkseid before the portal closes, was amazing. He looked more like a comic page than any others.
Battinson is very close too.
That warehouse beatdown scene is the best Batman fight ever filmed.
It’s hard to separate the quality of the movie and the portrayal of the character. I personally think Bale was the best but I’m not sure if that is because The Dark Knight might be the best comic book movie ever. I agree that Affleck’s Batman is greatly underrated. I hated to see him leave the franchise. Finally I think you have to rank the different Batmen differently than ranking the Bruce Waynes. I bet the order would be different.
Batfleck was the best batman, i loved the waerhouse fight, it was the best
🤡
Ben Affleck was a good Bruce Wayne/Batman.
You know what Ryan, I have to say. Of all of the videos of yours I’ve watched, I’ve never once seen the Segway coming. Kudos to you and your team, you’re doing great things and I love the videos!!!
The warehouse scene is my favorite fight scene of any movie, after watching Dr. Hope's breakdown of the injuries inflicted.
Everyone knows Ben was the best Batman we've seen live-action wise I can't believe this is still even being discussed.
Stop saying "everyone knows." you look the fool.
I agree, i love this Batman, just not the movies, love his armor, love how far he has fallen, love his fights, he just needs a great movie that shows he's awesome, he's the closest to Arkham Batman we have
I think what they were trying to do with the Martha moment was that when super man says save Martha it would make him think about the fact that he is basically letting someone else’s mom die putting him in the same position as the guy that killed his parents
The biggest problem was DC was trying to make a ‘Civil War’ type movie without even half of the character development
Could have been the greatest. You nailed it. He had it all, but a great movie to showcase it.
How do people not see, after the release of the Snyder cut, that Superman was handled well? That it was essentially one big origin story, kinda like the Holland Spider-Man trilogy?
And this idea that he didn't care about human life is laughable at best. Everything he did was selfless. He even instantly saved Lex from Doomsday, despite the fact that Lex kidnapped his mother.
My man knows how to plug an ad, so I hit the like button. Job well done sir. I’m a loyal supporter. Keep up the great work!
Ben Affleck was one of the most physically imposing Batmen ever. He was also the biggest at 6'4
The Dark Knight is one of my all time favs no matter the genre but I think that TDK is so good and why Bale is considered the best Batman and that trilogy the best Bat movies is largely due to Heath Ledger's joker. After watching this i can agree with what you're saying about Ben's portrayal being good in a bad movie. But TDK is still a masterpiece to me and therefore Bale is still my top Batman.
There are many aspects of this Batman that really worked, I enjoyed Affleck as Wayne&Batman, I loved how broken he was and totally understood his motivation to kill Superman. This by itself could have been a very strong statement and a way to show how far gone he is. I think they devaluated this, by making this Batman kill before he battles Superman. This plot point is so meaningful, that they straight up screwed it up, by having him kill meaningless characters. The way he killed KGB Beast would have so much more meaning in the grand picture, but was played for the visuals of the Comic. Imaging having Batman kill one guy and he chooses him instead of Superman, because he understood that not killing Superman, but saving his family is the one thing, that will save the world. It would also give more meaning to the Flash sequence, where Barry tells him to save Louis. All if it would come full circle give things meaning. Snyder had some great ideas for his characters, but threw them away for "cool moments".
@Erik Kemeey he literally blows up a car with a gunman on it minutes before the warehouse fight. He does kill the henchmen in the batmobile chase. As I said, I condone the KGB Beast kill, because it served his redemption but could have meant more, if not these things came before
I cringed so hard when he cut to the ad 😂😂 great video though! Haha
What made me instantly like batfleck was the scene where he's at the underground fight. Whispers in the guys ear to help the troubled fighter. Also how he rescued " Martha! He didn't pull his punched. He was a heavy handed fighter
Ryan, as you often do, have completely summed up my feelings on Affleck as Batman and the Snyder films in general. 👏 👏
affleck bat is the worst after clooney .the brain dead bat who let that cringe martha scene happened cuz the world's greatest detective forgot to do the background check on the enemy he was about to fight , beat up deadshot in front of his lil daughter in a fricikn ALLEY ,brainless bat who forgot the mother box after superman resurrection and resurrected superman without a contingency plan .yeah best my 🍑. one of the worst written ever 💩
Batfleck looks killed like 2 dozen people with a gun. Batman does not kill, in his own words, it's the one thing that sets him above the monsters that he hunts
And he tortured people, that's not batman, that's Azrael
The fight scene in the warehouse was AMAZING!!!! Best Batman because he could play both Bruce and Batman. Keaton got it right also!
I love both, Pattinson and Bale Batman.
But to me Affleck was the ultimate Batman. The way he fights, his voice, his body, his suit. A true badass.
I agree. When I watched Ben’s Batman, I found it realistic. This is what trauma does to some people. It can make them mean. I worked in public safety and watched many good medics and police officers become sadistic and mean after years of trying to be a heroes. So yeah, he’s the Batman I expected.
Ben played a great version of Batman and I believe that given the right script and opportunity he would have been amazing!
I'm looking for a motor bike so I'm definitely checking out deal dash ✊ thanks screen crush
Great analysis!
Man, just playing the Arkham series over a few days made me go from appreciating non-lethal options to wishing there was a way to kill the villains before they murdered more people. Imagine the toll that would've taken on an actual character who has been fighting crime for decades only to see the people he loved being hurt or killed time and time again.
He is the perfect Batman for me and I'm truly sad that Flashpoint is going to be Batfleck's final appearance.
Not so sure it’s completely over for him👀
Ben Affleck was the best Batman. He was a comic accurate Batman with a twist.
Man the sponsor segment was the smoothest
the beginning text is exactly what i think
A lot of people don’t emphasize A very important part I bought just looking like the actual character and I think that’s huge thing cuz it’s makes more believable don’t get me wrong all the other Batman‘s are great As well but I think Ben Affleck is undoubtedly the best Batman of all time he literally reminds me of the Batman I’ve always watched the grown-up straight from the comic books no 🧢
This was a great video, with a lot of great points, although I do have to disagree with some of the critiques. Saying Snyder's movies didn't "get" Superman is kind of unnecessary. I always thought their intent from the start was to basically do the exact opposite of everything people were expecting from these characters. (Until BvS didn't make enough returns and they tried to change tactics mid-franchise, at least.) I mean, at first all the Batman fans were decrying BvS by saying that Snyder didn't "get" Batman, but now that time has passed and people have made videos like this one dissecting the movie and gradually coming to understand the intentions behind it all, they kinda see that was the point all along. And the Martha scene...I just don't understand why people think it's so dumb. I mean, the actually line delivery was kinda...weird, but personally I thought it was a very poignant and powerful moment that really accomplished what needed accomplishing. I do think BvS is a scattershot mess, but I don't think it's nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Its ambition alone makes me love it. And the fact that it has remained in conversation years after its release would seem to suggest something special about it.
completely agree, this video sums up Bens Batman amazingly!
"do you bleed?" Scene. Best movie scene ever.
Bro if we can get an older version of batman that can give us Batman beyond I will loose it
For us non-fans, it was a great scene. I never knew both their mothers were Martha's.
I think it was less about people already knowing both the mothers has the same name, and was more about it being somewhat trivial and seemed like a line someone would write thinking it was really clever when its not.
@@OptimusSatanas I was genuinely shocked, had no idea and because of that I understood Wayne's shock, it's just an integral part of who Batman is, it's all about their deaths. Didn't get that till then, never was a DC fan, Marvel was my jam. Both my Grandmothers are called Mary, made me get it even more.
@@OptimusSatanas To you it wasn't cleaver cause you have known for decades, I'm 45 now and I never knew til then.

Thank you for articulating what I have been feeling for years. I find cases like this, a character in the movie is nailing it even if the movie is a mess, occasionally and have trouble recommending the movies to people.
