@@airman64 A very good mention to bear in mind that Williams makes it look very easy! He has two other videos of changing the clutch and DMF on the same model of Vauxhall Insignia that I now own. I studied and made several notes from his videos and decided to take on the job myself. It was a complete success, however it took me a great many hours longer than his videos would suggest, because he is a god when it comes to his level of skill. He did also offer and give me some helpful advice and tips, making him not only a god, but a true legend in my books. The experience of doing this work yourself is something everyone should endure at least once - it will show you what true work is like.

I reckon your a marvel especially how you take what tools you need for the job and it's an impressive how neat your tools are I wish mine were, I always watch the channel I'm 64 and when I was younger I could do what you do but due to rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia there's no way I could do anything like you do. When I saw at Honda civic black something white falling from above, I thought they were from trees, after a while I noticed that it was snowing and you finished the car. That ford is almost cool, the owner is passionate about cars, you can see. Only good, and today I would repair my steering box on a passat b5, they bought my sealing kit and I changed them, I saved 200 euros. RESPECT and increase in work.

Hi Kevin, I'm always watching your videos. You are always well organized and you seem to fly through the job. I do clutches on fiat punto's and Polo's mainly when I'm fixing one up to sell on. Normally takes me about 4 hours from start to finish. I can manage to lift the 1.2 but anything like a 1.9 I've got no chance. How you manage to roll them on to your stomach then up they go, I'll never know, especially the transit vans. Keep up the good work and keep them videos coming. 👍

That flat spot on the front of the subframe on the Type R where you had the jack to raise it up is actually the jacking point on them Kev. So you know for next time 👍
@@WMCS it looked a fairly clean example that car. They're usually rusted like mad, that lower arm would have turned to dust with a blow from your hammer on a really bad one 😂
I like it because you use the old ramp, we don't all have a high-performance elevator,when I saw the new ramp I didn't think so dy home so to speak, it's easier work for you with the new ramp,I also like the new ramp but the old one is more accessible for those who want to do this best thanks the best
Dan the trick is WD40 and slowly work the thread until the crusty rust comes off. Then before knocking it out shock it with hammer and chisel in the split centre.

The most difficult usually are the newer Citroen. In terms of suspension arm design. Working through all the badly routed wirings and the cherry on the cake is the starter motor bolts are Allen key size 6 which is literally the size of a keyhole .., after a few years in place you can imagine that’s just gonna round off like knife through hot butter. Good old french engineering 📝

A little tip to stop your extensions from coming apart is to use a thin piece of plastic over the ends 😜 Bet you where glad at the end of the civic clutch with it snowing 👏👏👏
Do you ever replace release bearings or bearing Fork? I never saw you do it, sorry new here, it's just from what i know it is good idea to replace it when you do the clutch, but you never seem to do it?

A good bit of variety this week! I like it. How many of these jobs do you do in a day, now that the sun is out for a bit longer? It looks like you can sometimes get a couple done in one day, depending on the distance of the job.
I'm curious, do you actually observe bolts tightening torque when you put all parts back together? Any torque wrench following the electric screwdriver?

Hey Oscar.., that’s it. I’m getting the snap on can you follow me around 😁.., There’s always the risk of the gearbox falling back down. I always try and minimise those risk and most of my moves are quite calculated. Where about’s in the world are you mate.
Watching from Australia. Takes two of us us two days plus for that sort of job (with the car on a hoist) where I help out. Nothing is easy, most cars are just 100% pure torture. eg VW's. I don't know how you do it on someone's driveway, and by yourself. How many hours does it take you for an average job like that with no complications? Cheers!

Got the car back now clutch feels very light to about 1/2 and the bite point is way lower than it was...Did they do something wrong when putting everything back together? @@WMCS It was bleed 4 weeks ago now and then it was ok when i was driving the car for 1 week and a half...then i had to stay inside because of covid for 2 weeks....now the feeling of a light clutch is back...You think air might be getting in somewhere little by little?

I was thinking, it doesn't happen that often. What's the oldest scabbiest vehicle you have had to replace the clutch on and was there ever one you just said NO to.
One that I said no to was a 1980 Volvo v70..,, the dirtiest repair I’ve done was a parked up freelancer one that had to dragged from a farmers field after 2 years. I filmed the repair it’s on the channel.
How often do you do a job Kevin that didnt need doing but thats what the customer wanted you to do. Do hate smart arses like you who knows exactly what tools are needed for each job lol I always end up with all my toolbox around me only joking great respect look forward to meeting you lol will be getting you to do my misses Hyundai Tuson at some point in the future.
Andy .., from the point of enquiry I’ll make sure the customer knows that on the day I’m there to replace the clutch. I will always make sure they have a second opinion from their local garage. But if on the day I find it to be the gearbox that’s faulty. I wouldn’t have it in me to take their money and pretend otherwise. Even if it’s the master cylinder I won’t proceed to take the job and replace the master at the same time. I wouldn’t feel comfortable to operate like that.
It’s getting very close. The mileage is at 120k at the moment. With how I drive I think I can push it to 140k before i change it. Unless the hydraulic fails ..

I'm amazed how you don't find more seized bolts kev. I find alot of lower wishbone pinch bolts seized, specially on fords.

In the case of the Honda, dismantling the carrier is great

Lee I used to do a couple a day. But now I only do one. I tend to value my freedom of time a bit more. So I can spend more time by the river fishing 🎣

It normally takes me on average 4 hrs to do a repair. I find for the job to go well and this works every time I feed the pony the night before 😁🍻

Hey Gazza.., there’s two different height settings that it locks onto. But for my size the highest settings works just right.

Andy .., from the point of enquiry I’ll make sure the customer knows that on the day I’m there to replace the clutch.
I will always make sure they have a second opinion from their local garage.
But if on the day I find it to be the gearbox that’s faulty. I wouldn’t have it in me to take their money and pretend otherwise.
Even if it’s the master cylinder I won’t proceed to take the job and replace the master at the same time. I wouldn’t feel comfortable to operate like that.
It’s getting very close. The mileage is at 120k at the moment. With how I drive I think I can push it to 140k before i change it. Unless the hydraulic fails ..
