I can't thank you enough my friend. You saved me so much time and $$ and I was able to fix my issue. I have a 2023 Chevy Malibu which the dooe was replaced. I was getting a B0086-3A and the "3A" simply means the wrong part is read because the side impact sensor in the door was not the original one. Luckily I have the original door and could remove the side impact sensor from it and install it in the car. Now the airbag warning is gone ;)
Yeah I'm having the same problem on a 2015 Chevy Malibu. Mine is b0086-04 open circuit front right side impact sensor. I thought it was the front right side impact sensor in the engine. So I took the door panel off and did what you said and it still throwing the code saying open sensor. Any suggestions?
If you used a terminal release tool and then replaced the existing terminal with a proper terminal crimping tool; it would correct the poor terminal tension.
