  • Diagnosing Airbag trouble codes on a 2014 GMC Terrain B0021 B1001 B3902. I was not told of any accident damage to the vehicle but due to the SDM module having the wrong VIN# in it and doing an internet search on the cars original VIN, I learned the vehicle had been in a pretty substantial crash. It was then learned that the car had the wrong SDM module installed.

    I like how you broke down the circuit and the diagnostic trail you took. Some times looking over live data with an open mind can save time. I really liked the air bag video. I, myself haven’t done much airbag diag so this really helps. Look forward to more.

      Thank you, I have other videos in the editor that I don’t feel are worth releasing because of the lack of footage without narration or what I think would be no learning value to the viewer, this being one of them I thought, but I decided I’m going to send them and wait for feedback such as yours. Again, thank you and thanks for watching amigo.

    Another good one! I usually stay away from airbag jobs myself.

      I’ve had and seen so many bad things while doing these jobs that I got to the point I wouldn’t touch the jobs. Like I said, the dealership broke me of that, training and repetition has made it bearable now 😬 nice to hear from you again amigo. Thanks for your continued support!

    Very informative and big thanks for the detailed video. A question i have, you ended up buying a new SDM module, were you not able to program the used SDM module that was throwing the code using SPS2?

    • @TiosAutoDiagnostics
      @TiosAutoDiagnostics  Před rokem

      I haven’t been able to program any used modules for gm for awhile now, I had a work around for the pcm up until May, but that don’t work anymore. Also, it was the wrong part# and that has never worked for me. If you have some tips, please share amigo.

      @@TiosAutoDiagnostics i wasnt able to program the used SDM module. The only used modules that i tried programming and was successful was the HMI and radio modules.

    How long should you wait before the system discharges. Especially on these newer vehicles?
    Awesome videos by the way.

      Each make and model is different, I look up the specs for each vehicle (seriously) and go by that. The reason is, sometimes there will be a notice or warning for that vehicle. If I can’t find it, which has only happened once, I just disconnect and go do something else then come back and stand clear lol
      Thank for watching amigo!

    Great video. I have a 2010 gmc terrain. Very similar to your 2014 Terrain video, mine was also wrecked and has used modules someone else installed. It will crank but only runs for 2-3 seconds. It has the wrong vin in the SDS and TCM Modules. I believe this is giving DTC B3902:00 (incorrect immobilizer ID received). Would either or both of these cause the B3902 DTC???

    • @TiosAutoDiagnostics
      @TiosAutoDiagnostics  Před 10 měsíci

      I wouldn’t think the SDS module would cause a no start, but I could see the TCM module doing that. I would think the B3902 is saying it’s the wrong part # as well. I could be wrong amigo.

    Thank you for clear movie. best wishes. i have a LaCrosse 2012 , seats airbags and belts replaced. i sent my module to a 3th party company for reset but they said the module is broken and i have to buy a used module that i did. first why the module in accident can brake? second now i have U0151:00 U151B:00 nothing else. can not reset or program this used module with my Autel MK906PRO . do i need to take to dealer to match it with original VIN? Thanks you.

    • @TiosAutoDiagnostics
      @TiosAutoDiagnostics  Před rokem

      Sometimes the modules are just bad and a 3rd party can’t repair them. If they can’t virginize the module by removing the stored crash data and/or removing or writing the VIN, then you have to buy a new one. Then you have to use SPS2 to program it as I did in the video, then you can use your Autel to clean it up (coding). As far as I know Autel won’t actually program any module, I could be wrong. But it all can be done without taking it to the dealer with the right equipment as I did in the video. I apologize for not making that part clear in the video. Thanks for watching amigo!

    Great vid.. where did you find info. On the air bag resistor resistance???

    • @TiosAutoDiagnostics
      @TiosAutoDiagnostics  Před 11 měsíci

      Alldata, Prodemand & Identifix list the resistor values for each make and model, but for I use 2.2 - 2.7 and it’s a pretty good guide for me to diag. Over time, I just got use to seeing the values of each make. Hope this helps amigo.

    Working on airbags can be pretty scary. You need power to properly diagnose the problem. But you're supposed to disable the air bag system before you work on it. It's very contradictory. Modern cars should really have an easy to use feature for technicians that allows you to temporarily disable the air bags with a bi-directional scan tool, as well as a safety mechanism in place to ensure they can't deploy while the system is being worked on.

    I replaced my ebcm on my 2011 buick with a used one from ebay. It still had the old vin in it but with gm techline sps I reprogrammed the software in the used ebcm and it put the correct vin in it but I still have a b3902 code in the ebcm stating Incorrect Immobilizer Identifier Received. Not sure how to change the Identifier in the ebcm. Theres no ebcm reprogramming option in the IMMO section. Not sure if I need to reprogram the BCM IMMO or not. The car still starts and runs fine with no engine light. I dont know where to go from here. Not sure if it will eventually stop starting? I would like to get the correct identifier in the ebcm.

    • @TiosAutoDiagnostics
      @TiosAutoDiagnostics  Před rokem

      You should be able to go into the special functions of the BCM on your bi-directional scan tool and marry the EBCM to the BCM if I remember correctly.

      Question for you, are you able to sps used ecm’s on Chevys? I haven’t been able to since about May of last year. I even tried a used transfer case module last month and it wouldn’t do it. Once I got the file that I needed the next button was dimmed out in red.

      @DarrelllCampbelll Před rokem

      @@TiosAutoDiagnostics I was able to load the software and relearn the vin but not the IMMO identifier in the ebcm. Not sure about other modules. I read a bulletin that gm dont allow to swap modules that you have to buy them new. I can live with the immo not being correct in the ebcm asong as I can start it
