    Whats up with tvnz picking and choosing when comments are turned off, so much for freedom of expression, state media should not be able to post on such a international platform as youtube and turn comments off, freedom of the press, doesn't mean freedom if expression?

      Expressing our democratic right to peaceful protest is education. Don’t tell parents how they should teach their own kids or what extra curriculum education they think they need. You might be a sheep, but the rest of us do not need the government controlling every aspect of our lives. The right to protest is a great right to enforce and teach. Focus on your own children. We won’t be one country or people until Pākehā stop using Māori as a political football. We don’t trust you and we have little reason to. Anytime things get hard Pākehā throw Maori under the bus. I’ve seen out over and over again so don’t try to deny it. Things were moving forward, but this government thought it would be a good idea to start this again straight after COVID. Very silly. The US culture war garbage has infected the minds of many Kiwis and look at what it is doing to us now. The best thing we can all do is turn off social media.

    Quite a history about the Maori - put the Inca's or the Aztecs to shame in degeneration. Outcast from the Cook Islands during the 13th century as weaker primitive Neolithic people by later waves of Polynesians (Maori were from the original wave of primitive Polynesians pushed right out across the Eastern Pacific by successive stronger more advanced groups arriving from the west). They were outcast on rafts and some floated to the North East Coast of NZ driven by the South Equatorial Current and were stranded for 500 years. The weaker were pushed down to the South Island or Chathams etc. So the South Island Maori (had their own language) were the weakest of the weak. They were captured and eaten as 'Slave flesh' by the northern Maori doing raids. (Well they all ate each other - 80% of Maori pre European were dark skinned easily fattened slaves farmed and eaten by a lighter skinned 'Ariki' thin wiry elite royal caste). So it was with some righteousness as well as British cunning that they armed the southern Maori who then with muskets launched a genocidal war on the north.. That plus measles & flu halved the Maori population and removed most of the elite. The British then liberated the slaves and outlawed cannibalism. The northern Maori fought with the British against the south bad west Maori 'rebels'. The Maori sued for peace and a treaty was signed that removed all sovereignty and made them subjects to the English crown where the English would protect them from each other. Land could only be sold to or via the Crown. Maori could live on their reservations with native custom but none did. The treaty of Waitangi is strikingly clear in that the Maori cede sovereignty completely and become citizens of Great Britain - all 3 clauses lock that in. Nothing in today's 'Maori' culture is authentic. The music - all European (Maoris did not have tonal music, the songs are missionary tunes or introduced - Poi dance is from Islands and Stick dance from old Malaya. The carvings and art - all European - Arabesques that was the fashion at the time. Original Maori had limited dash carving and no painting of objects. No written language - all the syntax & grammar plus vowel inflection is European. No technology - some lagoon canoes and wood or stone Neolithic tools. No food sources - like pigs or crops - they left that all behind, all they had was a weak inbred fox (now extinct), some rats and a weak dismal pacific yam. They ate out all the bird-life including 10 species of Moa and 46 other bird species, didn't know how to farm the sea as were island people and so they turned to societal cannibalism. Today - no full blood or half blood left. No genuine tradition and almost all are offspring of Maori slave females sold to white settlers for muskets or food. -So more fake than the 'Sioux' or 'Cherokee' or 'Crow' who had at least retained some genuineness about who they were and their history. -Everything you 'saw or experienced' is fake. A totally convected disneyfied tokenistic set of inventions fueled by a grievance culture of mixed-race imposters fetishing a false past bad history because it pays benefits. 'This Horrid Practice' - Professor Paul Moon, "A Savage Country" Professor Paul Moon 'Behind The Tattooed Face' - Heretaunga Pat Baker, 'Anthropology In The South Seas' - H D Skinner

    The speech from Luxon was one of a dog that just wet itself with fear, a whimp, a subject to iWi. What happened to the 'tough guy' who pushed his opinions onto his caucus members ? The crowd was unclothed, unruly, uncultured, and uncivilized, almost as uncivilized as their 'leaders' who should have told them to show some RESPECT, but because they do not know what the word means, the whole thing turns to a mob rule situation. Seymour should have joined Peters when the latter walked off the stage.

    Maori's have been fighting since the British came to these lands, fast forward to 2024 and still going.
    If the Corporation can only Govern with the consent of the Maori king, Ratana Church, and the Maori Council, to me, I cannot understand, why all the raruraru.
    If the MK, RC, MC didn't take the money that is given from the Corporation to Govern another year, and giving their consent, then it looks to me, that the three mentioned above, are liable for what is happening, and also seems they have authority above this Corporation.
    Don't get me wrong, I'm just observing both sides.

    With the changes of the teaching of the Treaty of Waitangi all children ever learn is the wrong way of what the treaty really means. Before the British came along the Maori were all in tribes and had wars with each other (and they were cannibals). So after they saw this they created the treaty, the treaty was there to stop these PROFLIGATES from consuming each other and support a place for all to live. But... no this was not enough for the Maori they still want more even though they signed this, yes you may say there was translation problems but this has been exaggerated. British were not bad and they did the right thing!

Of course history knows we warred and fought other tribes and that we were cannibals...that's also the history of the English what's ur point? we didn't create the Treaty, the British had been using treaties with tribes for centuries like in America...wow people accuse Maori of not being educated...

    • @Neff17
      @Neff17 Před 4 měsíci

      No the treaty was to allow the crown to govern in NZ and to also to I force their laws. This was because of the drunken sailers and whalers who saw the world as lawless and basically thought they could get away with anything (rape, assault, pillaging). This was the need to bring British law here. Extending protection and rights to Māori was part of a negotiation to only have land sold to the crown and not the French, Spanish etc. it also gave the crown a quick solution to the Victorian slum era I.e ship them here by the 10s of thousands. For Māori more settlers in the country meant more opportunity for economic growth. Although there were virtually no immigration laws set in place and they were just sending ship loads of Europeans straight from the slums, Māori actually put written complaints in to the government about it but they were ignored.
      On the settlers end, the NZ company sent recruiters/ salesmen round the slums telling everyone of a new country they had discovered, it had been all ploughed and surveyed and they had plots of land for sale ready for farming. This was a lie, they were sold a dream of a better life. They got here and there wasn’t a single survey peg in the ground, they also didn’t mention that there were already people living here and they didn’t actually have any land for sale.
      The crown representatives were hoping that Māori would sell them land so they could exploit the situation. A chief named Te Kooti sold Auckland (highly desirable for the 2 ports) to Busby who then subdivided it into 119 sections and sold them to settlers. Settlers then subdivided these sections and made profits of up to 300%. Business was good early on and everyone was winning. Māori began businesses setting up mills for flower and corn and also grew crops. They transported their own products via mokihi and waka and supplied stalls for the Auckland markets who were run by settlers.
      Māori become power houses in the start of our economy (producers, suppliers and transported their own goods) and we’re realising the treaty coming to fruition. This was from 1840-1860s. They tightened up on land sales and started buying more equipment and even ships. This is when tensions grew for settlers and disputes over land arose. Settlers were struggling to get ahead here. Busby was a fail and was relying on more loans from the crown. This ultimately led to land confiscations (the regions where a lot of Māori economy was growing). With that Māori also lost their crops and also trust in the government.
