I’ve had my x700 for a year now, i first had it fitted in a car with a clear rear window, I’ve since sold that car and have just re fitted it in a Abarth 595, turns out the rear window has a slight tint, this has impacted greatly on the rear camera, the video is way too dark, even during the day, any ideas ?
It looks very fuzzy on the edges of the screen. IDK if that has anything with the buffer when uploading your review to YT? I also thought this had built in GPS?
Hi glassman204, we're not sure, but the real-time footage should not have fuzziness on the edge. To confirm, GPS is an optional add-on.
I almost brought this until I realize the car charger does not have multiple usb ports on top, so if i needed to charge my phone I would have to stop recording. I searched to see if one of their other cameras had multiple ports for the car charger that would work with this dual dash cam and no luck.
Hi purpleheart300, while the cigarette lighter adapter is an option to power your dash cam, you could also look into charging via the OBD port or installing via the hardwiring method.

I had my x700 dash cam installed at a bestbuy. He said he hard wired it and my 12v outlet is still open so I'm assuming the extra $20 I paid hid the cord and allowed for hard wiring though I feel he did plug and play in a way I can't see because I never purchased a thinkware hardware kit. Regardless once I purchase the x700 rear cam will I need that additional battery mentioned in the video or does the recording just overwrite the 6-8 hrs a card holds of parking footage? I want to ensure I utilize all features available. Thanks for your time!
hi there, out of curiosity which bestbuy did you use for installation service and how much did they charge you? the bestbuy I bought my dashcam from just couple days ago wasnt able to provide installation and every place I asked charges $300 or so for installation, which is way more than i was hoping to pay. Thanks for any insight and good luck :)
is it possible to turn off the parking mode when hardwired with the hardwire cable?
Hi Audrey, absolutely. You can always do that within the Thinkware app settings.
Hi. Do you know which app I download? There's 3 on the thinkware website, and none of them list the x700 under it
That is because the X700 has no wi-fi ability so the app will not work with the x700
Will the traffic light warning etc work overseas? also is the ADAS really that helpful?
Hi Ramon, yes it works overseas. And how useful it will be is dependent to you! Some customers do find the alerts too much, but for others, it does help with their driving.

This is such a nice review that I am stunned that the image quality is too poor to read a license plate. Am I doing something wrong? Isn't this a standard feature that everyone wants?
This is a 2+ years old and discontinued unit. Video quality has increased since then.

Yes you can take the footage from the SD and put onto your computer to save or delete as desired
My X700 view screen turns on when started for like 10 sec then it turns off / blank until you hit that red dot screen button - can I have the screen stay turn live all the time ? I'm not a tech guy - Thanks for replying.
Hi Mason, you can change the settings within the dash cam itself. Just head into the settings and change how long the screen stays on for!

Do Samsung micro SD endurance cards work?
We typically only recommend SanDisk A1 cards, but if you're looking for Samsung recommendations, you can try the Samsung Evo Plus / Select.
Do I need to turn off the dashcam when taking out memory card for pc viewing
I mean, the camera won't record without a memory card, just whine at you to insert a memory card. Technically you don't have to turn it off, but don't expect the camera to be capable of doing anything without a memory card
Does Thinkware have accessories that can help film inside of the car?
Hi there, unfortunately, there is no IR version of the camera available at the moment so the only way to film inside the car would be to take your rear camera and install it to face the interior.

You can. It will depend on where you set the interior camera, but you can set it so that it's closer to your side of the window with audio recording.

My camera is only alerting me of red light camera. Its not alerting me of speed camera. How can i set it.

Yes, but with a hardwire kit you will receive voltage and timer cutoff protection.
Is it easy to remove it? I want to take it off every time I am parking.. as I park outdoors in Downtown area..
Hi Alex, yep, while the adhesive windshield mount sticks onto your windshield, you can easily detach the mount from the Thinkware X700. However, we wouldn't recommend doing so as the dash cam is there for your safety! Happy Black Friday shopping!
If you park outdoors in the downtown area, it makes even more sense for the dash cam, which is protection! I would leave it in the car and take advantage of the parking mode features.
@@uravggamer4620 It only makes sense until someone smashes your window and takes the camera. Trust me, when you live in a sketchy urban neighborhood don't keep anything of value in your car.
@@TheGreatMoonFrog I'm with you I'm conflicted I want the dash cam for safety but fear it'll bring attention and cause theft. Seems like best to use while driving but hide it when I'm not, lose the value in the purchase to make sure my car isn't damaged.

Hi Jaime, correct! If you install the dash cam using a hardwiring cable, there will be no need for a cigarette adapter.

Hi Jaime, apologies on the late response, but yes - the cigarette adapter (using a 12V power cable) is what can power the dash cam. And no, you don't have to use this if you are hardwire installing your dash cam.

Is very big and easy to see from outside, which parking in bad places will become a target for criminals and drugs addicts in search for easy money ! Better option and easy to remove and hidden if they have adopted the magnetic mount like Garmin . Do you know if the rear camera will have good image quality if i put solar plastic protection in all 3 windows in the back of the car, in the parking mode during the night the camera will be able to record tru ? What model do you recommend for parking mode , i want to be good on detecting small impacts. Thanks
Hey there, if you're looking for something sleek and hidden, then we'd recommend going for something like the Thinkware U1000. It's flatter so you can hide it easier behind the front mirror. If you're looking to use parking mode, then you probably won't need a magnetic mount (unless you're planning on taking it off - which goes against the point of parking mode!). What is the maximum sd card capacity that this camera supports???
Hi Herson, officially, the documentation says that this camera supports up to 64GB. However, some of our customers have tried 128GB SD cards and it's worked for them.

@@blackboxmycar is it better than tesla cam? I have 2022 tesla model 3, but cameras cannot read license plate well.
Definitely better than the TeslaCam as the output is in 720p. We do have a lot of customers getting standalone dash cams for their Teslas as battery is also an issue they face.

Hi Cons29, it is because USB power sources in some vehicles can only provide up to ~500mA worth of current, which is not enough to power a dash cam where it requires at least 12V of voltage from a cigarette lighter adapter. Also, some USB ports also have their data lines connected, meaning some dash cams may go into file download mode similar to when you connect it to your PC. Great question!
@@blackboxmycar wish cars manufacturers would start using USB that can provide more juice, we have those in smartphones for years.
Hi Cons29, absolutely! This is why vehicles include a cigarette outlet for these purposes. You can use the USB port on your cigarette outlet adapter to power your dash cam too :)
