For the complicated answer: Yes, the orientation of the fuse tap does matter. It should be oriented so that the power leg of the tap is connected to the side of the fuse slot that has the power. This ensures that the new circuit is protected by the additional fuse in the tap. Using a multimeter to identify the power side will help ensure correct installation.

You can certainly take the camera on and off the mount that stays on the windshield. It isn't magnetic though, there are mounting grooves on the back of the camera that the mount slides into.

Unfortunately there is not a way to zoom in on VIOFO's mobile app. However you can zoom in when using various viewers, when viewing over a computer.

@@blackboxmycar thank you I just realized what I did. I plugged in a memory card reader to my phone and after picking the file I was able to zoom in that way. That’s the clearest image I can get.

Yes, I can confirm that using the OBD port as a constant power supply for a dash cam is safe, and we have countless users doing so daily. I can understand the concern of mechanics, given the base function of the OBD port is for access to the vehicle's computer, but the power draw is so low there is no risk

Sorry to hear you're struggling with hardwiring, there are various reasons why parking mode is not engaging. Firstly, please ensure parking mode is enabled in the settings of the camera, and that the voltage cut-off on the hardwire kit is not set too high. Yes, I can confirm that our headlights are on for all nighttime footage. Have you tried turning on the night vision 2.0 setting? That may help. Some other models that have HDR help more with high-contrast between headlight glare and other bright sources in low-light situations.

Yes it's heating up quickly! Sorry to hear that's happening with your camera, I've seen that happen with VIOFO models before, where they basically run too hot for too long and get themselves stuck, needing a reboot to get back in working order. This mainly happens in parking mode when recording in the long-term, like overnight. Try out a few different parking modes with decreased sensitivity and see if that helps, try a new SD card, and make sure the firmware is updated.

Unfortunately it will not. The most modern camera this will work with is the Thinkware Q200, recording 2k.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll answer your questions here. Yes, the camera by default will constantly record while you're driving! If you get into an accident, it will automatically detect the impact, and bookmark the footage as such, placing it into a special impact folder. Yes, if you'd like to manually store a recording, you can do so through the big red REC button on the back of the unit, which will bookmark the footage as manual recording. You aren't able to connect additional cameras to this system, it is only a 2-channel system.

I would pick that up if it ever comes out. People are carzy these days an I love my car enough to invest in security for it. One more thing dose it require a paid subscription? Cuz some people said the app had parts you had to pay for and others said it was 100% free with purchase. Also are you a authorized retailer? Cuz the manufacturer warranty on the product says I have to by from a authorized retailer. Also do you have extended warranty/protection plans if I buy this product?

Sorry to hear your current camera is giving you those issues. I can assure you that Thinkware units perform very well in high-heat, and this camera even has a specific parking mode for high heat situations, still recording when others shut-down. As for CarPlay, you can't connect to both at once with any camera system, though you'll only need to connect to the camera when you want to review footage or change settings. Otherwise, the camera will do it's thing and not interfere with your CarPlay.

Hi there, sorry to hear the Q200 didn't meet your standards there. The Q200 does have motion detection, it just doesn't in the energy saving mode, so it will draw about just as much power as the VIOFO camera would, which also has motion detection. I will say that the A229 Pro will have significantly better image quality, with the latest sensors and HDR so even night situations will be fully covered. This is the best image quality you can get in dash cams at the moment.
