Thanks for your thorough video! I just got one today from vandalism of someone smashing my grill out of the bumper of my car, but they left it there. I was pretty sad about it because I don’t have any enemies. I got mine installed and I really hope it does detect motion . I wish I can see it on my phone at all times but you have to be at your car to look up any type of motion to play back which is fine too. Again, great video ! Glad you said it detects motion!! I wondered that

Are the new audio prompts also available for U1000 as a firmware update? And by now is Heat Blocking Film included with U1000 bundles - or can it be purchased separately?
Unfortunately not yet for the shortened audio prompts. And the heat blocking film - it will be in the future!
Honestly this was fitted by a company to my vehicle 2 days ago and it has nothing but connection issues with the Thinkware App (Android). Reading up the Android App has been broken for months.

Wow I do like the new audio! Please Thinkware... remove the "how to use wifi" from all thinkware camera firmware. We get it. I'm looking to pick this up over the holidays thanks for the review and could you chip in about the radar option's actual usability?
Yes, the new audio is much less chatty. As for the radar option, it is very good at conserving power, and can be beneficial to anyone parking their car for more than a day or two. Do keep in mind it will only record impacts.
Hi, have you checked out Thinkware QA100 Elite? Wondering if there is a difference between Sony Exmor R starvis sensor and Sony Starvis sensor? Thank you.
We have not checked out the Thinkware QA100 Elite and have no plans to carry it. The QA100 is an off-shoot of the Q800 Pro which has been fully replaced by the Q1000.
Are the ADAS warnings able to be individually muted?
(For instance, can I mute all of the ADAS earning except for Foward departure warning?)

We have not done a lot of research into the RedTiger unfortunately, it will be hard for us to say.
I currently have an older thinkware dash cam (X500) hardwired into my vehicle. I want to upgrade to this one. Can I leave the current wiring in and plug this one in?
Hey there, great question! So the great news is that Thinkware is still using the exact same hardwire kit with newer models, so you can leave that in, or any other power cabling that you have. The mount and front/rear camera cable have been updated though, and would need to be changed.
Just wondering if there will be a issue if I use a 256gb card in the dash cam? The website and thinkware box shows support for 256gb.

They are both safe for connecting. For us, we'd recommend the hardwire kit to free up your OBD port.

Hey there! The U1000 does have better image quality with 4k on the front camera, compared to 2k of the Q1000. However, the Q1000 is more advanced with newer and updated software, so it's a tough decision. Other more detailed factors are touched on in the video :).
Is live gps available? Like, can I see the location of my deivers?
Yes, live-gps is available with the Thinkware Q1000. To access the gps of this camera in real-time remotely, the camera will need to be connected to a wifi source.
Just curious, if the q1000 has less annoying voice notifications, will this be integrated into any other thinkware dash cams?

How come the U1000 cannot link up to the THINKWARE connect, , it’s not fair that they come out with this new feature and only the Q1000 can use it. Or are there plans for future connectivity.
Unfortunately not. Thinkware Connected is a new service that's only for the newest Thinkware models.
If I have an Q800 pro already installed, can I swap it with this Q1000? I.e. can I use existing wiring? Can I silence the audio?

Hey Michael, they are the same wires, but the ports are on the opposite side of the dash cam so you'll need to do a loop with the wiring to get it in. Not going to be the cleanest install, but it can be done.
Hi BlackboxMyCar, I got the F200 Pro all the wires already installed. If I purchase this unit can I just use the wires came from the F200 including the rear channel?
Hey there, unfortunately, it's only the hardwiring kit that's compatible.All the other wiring will have to be redone.

Is the Bluetooth used to play back video as opposed to wifi? Any benefits?
The bluetooth connection is purely used to guide the wifi connection, and create a seamless connection to your phone, as opposed to manually connecting to the wifi network with previous models. The connection is still mainly a wifi connection.
My rear camera shows upside down Recording, installed by Geek squad. Should I rotate it?
You can always change the image (mirror it horizontally/vertically) in the settings!
There appears to be 2 models of the Thinkware Dash Cam Q1000, a MU32CH (approx list $479.00) and DU32CH (approx list $600.00). If so what is the difference other than price?
Can you link us to the one that is $600? But from our guess, it's that one is a one-channel variant (so only front camera), while the other includes the rear camera.

this is probably the one I will be getting after researching the dashcams for about 2 weeks now (with the radar and battery)

does this have motion sensor when someone walks up to your car in parking mode? also does the rear camera have motion sensor as well when someone walks up to the back in parking mode?
Yes, the Q1000 can record impact and motion when in parking mode with both it's front and rear cameras!
@BlackboxMyCar Dash Cams | North America what else can do this? I emailed and they only gave me Q1000 as their recommendation but I was looking for a few other options.
How does this stack up, compared to the x1000. Is this better than the x1000 or is the x1000 better?
The image quality is on-par for both of these units, however it has the advantage of having a wifi app and many features built-off of that such as bluetooth for a seamless connection and Thinkware Cloud. The Thinkware X1000 does not have any form of wifi and is wholly reliant on it's large touch-screen.
Setting one of these up but cannot pair it with an iOS device? Its shows up on WiFi on the device but asks for a password. Made several attempts to locate a password for the device, but could not locate it. The Q1000 is all set up but I cannot make any changes or view any of the recordings.
Yes, all Thinkware cameras have a default password of 123456789. You shouldn't need it if you connect in-app through the bluetooth, but you can do so manually in the wifi settings of your phone with that password.

I was told by Thinware UK that the Thinkware SD cards are optimised to work seamlessly with Thinware dash cams. Is this true?
I mean, the Thinkware SD card won't need to be formatted when inserted like a third party card, making the startup process a bit easier, but that's about it.

They technically use different rear camera models.
So I bought one from your website, however when I went to register my dashcam on Thinkware Connected, it tells me there is an error with the code I've scanned/manually entered. Any reason why that is?
Ah, this is most likely because the camera will need to be connected to the internet first before the barcode is scannable. In the Thinkware Dash Cam Link app, follow the internet connection steps, outlined in this video: czcams.com/video/q12GzbN0IXE/video.html
@@blackboxmycar I live in an apartment so I can't connect as the distance is too far - will I be able to complete this step via public wifi? So far I can connect to a public wifi and check on recorded clips on Thinkware Dash Cam Link app, but I also feel like I've tried to connect to Thinkware Connected via public wifi and was still getting the error when scanning. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong?

Hey Eduardo, there are a couple of new features in the Q1000. We would consider the Q1000 an upgrade to the Q800PRO as they're both 2K . Main upgrades include the Super Night Vision 3.0 (better night vision), Thinkware Connected (Cloud feature), Bluetooth and compatibility with the Thinkware RADAR.

@@Aaron-yn4bk if you want the highest resolution dashcam (by Thinkware), it would be the U1000, because it does 4k in the front and 2k in the back (Q1000 is 2k front/back), however... the Q1000 has newest night mode, so while it might only be 2k, night time recording (in theory) should be better... especially, trying to read license plates
Can i force it to record at any time i want ?
The camera is constantly recording when it has power by default, if you'd like to bookmark a specific file, then you can trigger manual recording with the manual recording button.

Yes, I can confirm that the Q1000 has dual-band wifi, providing 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi.
what good is Bluetooth if you can't use car play
A fix for this should be a firmware update away. Thinkware is aware of the issue!
According to THINKWARE you can use your car play app due to their update.

Why would you want that annoying screech at the start of every drive. I'd be putting an axe through the unit if I had to listen to that at every start up.

I hear you, unfortunately this is standard with any dash cam that uses a wifi connection to connect to it, which is the case for the vast majority of cameras. Still, you should be able to stay connected to Apple Car Play during your normal commute, and only need to connect to the camera in the event that you need to view footage, or change settings.
Still can't read a license plate until you are right up on it.
That's because it's on a phone, bring your video to your PC with 27" monitor and you can see the plate number
I have decided to buy the q1000. I was looking to buy a 256gb card, but can not justify paying a premium price of £109 in the UK for a rebranded SD card.
My question is, which 256gb high endurance SD card will work fine in all modes, with out any issues?
Is SPOR technology a selling strategy with Thinkware SD cards, or is this a special feature I pay available on Thinkware SD cards

Unlike earlier models, you can turn off audio messages like the intro without fully disabling the audio of the unit :D

Also, I read on your website about mounting it to the passenger side of the large rain sensors. I do have a large obstruction in my G37 sedan and I was wondering about how much affect mounting the camera offset has on the video. Is it going to appear noticably off-centered?
