This is probably the most competitive starter army... Pretty much a prefect selection of units... I would advise any newbie not to get distracted by the assault rifles and panzerfausts... Keep it lean and take more bodies...

Damn, that is actually a really REALLY good starter set for collecting a D-Day/Bagration to Berlin German army.
Here is a quick all-rounder list I made from the contents of this box:
Second Lt. (Regulars) + 1 man
10x Heer Grenadiers (Regulars) 1x LMG
10x Heer Grenadiers (Regulars) 1x LMG
    10 Heer Grenadiers (Veterans) 6x STG44s
    Medium Mortar (Regular) + spotter
    Pak 40 (Regular)
    Medium Machine Gun (Regular)
    Puma AC (Regular)
StuG III B/C/D/E (Regular) light howitzer
1000pts on the nose! |You have 3 grenadiers left over that you could give panzerfausts to to mix in at a later date.
(Looks like you can get it from Element Games for £95 too- bargain!)

Remember metal models can have a mold release against residue on them that can interfere with primer sticking. So wash them before you prime.

Really you get two versions that being the Stug III Ausf G and the StuH 42 as long as you don't glue the barrels onto the breech and so can swap them out like I did for my Stug. The StuH 42 is a little better as it can take out infantry squads with it's 3" template, that and it can also hurt any weapons teams that are within range, also you can fire it direct or indirect unlike the Stug which is strictly direct fire only.

Extremely helpful review, as I'm currently collecting Poland, looking into US, but now starting to think about next year adding an Axis army, so seeing review of the army starter sets is super helpful! Keep them coming! :)

My favorite starter set, both from an gaming & historical perspective as this kit lends itself well to making the Panzer grenadiers Grossdeutschland Div.

One additional benefit of a late war army is you can reuse most of it in Konflikt 47.

Love the series going on. There isn’t a competitive scene in my area, but it’s great to look at everything from different views. Went with the SS starter because just couldn’t say no to getting a big cat in my army.

Very informative video. I used this to choose my German Army starter and went with the Grenadiers for the StuG, PUMA, and PAK 40. I also bought two Panzer IV F/G/H's. Next I want to get a second StuG because I want a G/H with Shurzen skirts and an F with just the long-barrel 75mm. Or I might get a Hetzer instead. Or both.
My German Grenadiers army should match up well versus my Canadian army with a Churchill AVTRE, Sherman Firefly, and 2 Sherman V's.
Next step is to take Mordian's advice and get some transports for each army.

I'm loving this series! Any chance you can also do Konflikt 47 army review series? I'd love to see them, but it feels like no ones covering the game

I really like the grenedier set but I have so many grenadiers that the model variety just isn’t a thing I would get from this set sadly

Unrelated to the bideo but im starting a 9º age army and thougth guau i have 200 minis this is for sure a great army (it is something more than 2000 points) then i discover that games tend to be of 4500 points so i need to paint 200 more at least i have only 60 painted so i need to paint 340 miniatures more to have an army

Does this kit come with a rulebook and dice?

None of the starter army boxes do, you're looking for the ones that come with two armies. Band of Brothers, etc.

I want to start a German/usa force because I love saving private Ryan, I’m coming over from playing 40K/Star Wars legion.
I want the iconic German look from the movie, would the gentleman’s German side look close enough? Since this box gives more options for weapons and such, really want the iconic mg42.
Or would the blitzkrieg German box be the way to go instead
