    I did what every recuperating 40K player does and bought ALL of them during a clearance sale at my LGS.
    I dropped around 400€ for 6 faction big boxes , 6 faction books, 3 support boxes , 5 vehicles, 2 campaign books and the rulebook.
    For the price of a single 40K 2000p army I have gotten enough books and minis to host an entire Tournament on my own

    Alternate comparison, BA factions vs Guard Regiments…
    Tallarn = USA
    They move and shoot. Simple as.
    EDIT: Rooty tooty, move & shooty
    Armageddon = Soviet Union
    You like tanks and infantry? I gotchu fam.
    Tempestus scions = Germany
    Everything is a little tougher and hits a little harder, but is way more expensive and fragile for the points.
    Cadia = Commonwealth
    Generically can do anything, hits a little more accurately, likes artillery, tends not to just horde infantry.
    Valhallans = Japan
    Likes to mass infantry, has mechanics for ignoring morale, tricks new players with weird mechanics that may not have been very well thought out.

    Generally speaking, each Fraction is set up similar. Regular troops are 10 points per man and Vet troops are 13 points. They all have access to the same type of mortars, machine guns, snipper , artillery, trucks and flamethrower team all at the same cost. Even Tanks are similar priced. For example a Panzer iv and Sherman Firefly play exactly the same way and cost the same.
    Its been my experience that each Fraction is evenly balance. When picking a Fraction, pick the one you like. The people who play Bolt Action are a more laid back group of people than other game formats. It's more about fun than winning.

      Rudolph Hess….
      But yeah… anyone who believes uncountably that the Germans were bloodthirsty evil genocide monsters…. Should probably learn to think independently.
      History is written and more importantly re-written by the victor….
      It’s weird that no one wants to accept that the west lied to justify executing hundreds of people and stealing billions in profits.
      In war no one is the “good guy” everyone decides to send their young glory hounds and poor people to kill and die for the wealthy politicians and the corrupt Buisnessmen.
      There is no winner on a battlefield in real life. There is only the living and the dead.

    I agree on most of these comparisons except two.
    I think Americans are more like the eldar. Mid weights and more focused on speed. Then they can sub class to DE for Marines and craftworlds for airborne.
    Then the Brits could be the SPM. A very all rounders faction that can slightly spec into certain game play.

    I love BA and I need to get back into it. Some errors with your hostory. The 11th Airborne did fight in the Pacific, even glider troops. Also, the 6th Rangers. In most US battles in the Pacific, there were some Army involved. There were also battles which were predominantly, almost entirely Army. An example which included the Airborne and Rangers, the Philippines campaign. The Army made up the bulk of the troops in the Pacific.
    The US airborne also fought a little in North Africa an of course Italy.
    Do not forget that the Soviets also fraught the Japanese.
