    The box is wrong- this isn't a 1500 point starter, its a 2000 point power gamer's starer set , you take one platoon with a 1st LT(generic, not the ss version, its just a fluff upgrade that costs points)+2 men with assault rifles, 3x5 man assault rifle fanatic veteran squads with 4 panzerfausts, and the tiger vet with an mmg, the second platoon has a 2nd lt + 2 and 3 5 man fanatic squads with the nco armed with an assault rife and 2 LMGs in each squad, mortar, pak and mmg team, and the stug puts it at 1994 points for 13 orders...

    All German players, at some point in your BA career, have got to buy a Tiger. Yes it’s a lot of points, and you probably won’t win a game with it, but it’s so iconic. Certainly on my wish list. So maybe the SS does have a bonus to it.

    Just wanted to say thanks for making these videos. I've played my first few games and I've just finished painting my first brit inf section. It's a shame that Bolt Action doesnt have the presence that 40k does considering how fun it is but it's great to see that you're making much needed BA content!

    Nice looking box.. i have ended up with most of the contents of this by chance sadly rather than getting a discount. Honestly with regard to anyone having problems with playing a notorious faction from history... its a historical wargame. Not a thing the perpetually offended should be anywhere near. If we were to go down that very silly route wed have to basically delete the soviets and the japanese from the game in addition to the SS lol

    I'd been considering getting into this system, and this kit has two of my favorite tanks! And as I already planned to go Germany due to them having my favorite weapons and armored vehicle design of the time period, this set is looking quite tempting.

    I like realism and correct historical representation of armies. Just like I say "cool your jets" to people that have a problem with board games and video games that have Nazi representation and insignias I would say the same thing about miniature games. It's just a simulation of war. No one is supporting the ideology (at least I hope not). Get over it. No one has a problem playing the Soviets and I would argue their ideology was just as evil as the Nazis.

      Agreed. And even if someone wanted to support an ideology and live out that fantasy in a non-destructive way then why not?
      Better sit at a table rolling dice than lashing out at society. Censorship is pretty silly when you look at it like that.

      The real hilarious part is the guys who started wargaming as a hobby, including ww2, actually fought against the real nazis in ww2, and they understood this is a game. But today you get randos all crying about playing germany in a ww2 game means you're a nazi or something. Actually pathetic.

    great channel. As far as how do I feel about playing SS. Well to put it simply, "Good sir this is a game. None of us have killed anyone no matter how well we roll." Each army and type of units has a different play style. wait there it is an again "Play". This is a game we shouldn't even bet having this conversation.... IMO

    this is by far the best starter set. So many different combinations can be done for 1500 points. Its actually around 2k of points.
    Gives you enough ARs and all other upgrades bits :)

  • @TheTobaccoman
    @TheTobaccoman Před rokem +9

    Love this starter army and have them actually. If you play Germans having a tiger in your army is a must. It’s just too iconic. As well if you have any issues playing as a waffen ss army just remember someone has to be the bad guy and someone has to be the worst guy. Playin an army isn’t an endorsement of their history. Some just have to play evil, like me.

    It is interesting to note the DAK force includes the Mk III but with a short barrelled 7.5 cm gun. This points to a late desert force as mid 1942 was about the time they started the role switch between the MkIII and MkIV in terms of fire support and direct assault. Does the Mk III have a variation in weapons such as the long barrelled 5cm gun? It does seem to be be the up armoured version.

  • @MajorSvenGaming
    @MajorSvenGaming Před rokem +2

    Just to let you know the box comes with 36 models, the army build recommends you use 33 but you get some spares.
    Also the grenadier box is pretty new (2016).
    I also think its worth making a mention when reviewing the SS kit that it is slightly problematic in the hobby community. 99% of the time its not an issue but just be aware that some players struggle playing against the SS due to the historical connotations, being aware of this and if using the army being sensitive to it never hurts. A mindset that laments winning and celebrate losing can go a long way.
    Obviously atrocities where across the board, but the SS stick out for obvious reasons and some people can struggle to see the game over the history. At the end of the day we all just want to push little toy soldiers around a board.

    Yes I get it, so long ago. But my son and I just bought starter kits and we are looking for clues. But watching this video I appreciated the commentary right up until you compared a late war SS (read scum) starter kit with the Blitzkrieg kit. Of course the SS kit looks better on the face of it. But you can't use that as an early war fighting force because the vehicles being used and the infantry kit being used did not exist on the battlefield. Without going into detail, when the Germans confronted a determined force, they had a rough time of it including finding out that the 3.7 pop gun was not the best option for A/T warfare. Primarily the Blitzkrieg worked because the French let it. That and I think Weygand was a traitor.
