I took Amlodipine for years. I felt worse than ever in my lifetime - tired & fatigued always. At the time, I had hypertension & weighed 190 lbs. I now weigh 100 lbs & my blood pressure is always below 120/80. I have been off hypertension meds for about 5 years & never felt better. How did I lose the 90 lbs??? I changed NOTHING, but added a 1/2 mile walk to my daily activity. It didn't happen overnight, but it did happen. It took almost 6 years, but the 90 lbs disappeared. All it takes is a little patience & perseverance. Nothing happens instantly.

Yes that is true. my doctor only warned me of the swelling of the ankles. This didn't happen to me luckily sounds horrible by what I'm reading. What it did do after a few months was I started skipping heart beats maybe once a week. It basically knocked me on my arse because when it happened it was like something just sucked all my energy out, my arms hurt to move felt like I had molasses for blood. Few more months go by it starts happening every day. I told my doctor, he didn't know what I was talking about I can't believe he didn't think of this side effect. Once it started happening every day multiple times a day I decided I had enough. Mind you I didn't know what was happening or if something else was wrong. The first dose I missed thing turned around 100% haven't had the issue since so I know that drug would've eventually ended my life.

I'm not sure how much a doctor knows about a medication, only if he's getting a good kick back! Ask your pharmacist, read the pamphlet, check out a website where you can put in all your meds and it will check for meds that don't do well together, etc

I was taking this med for three months and it caused me to have extreme stomach pain, loss of appetite and no desire to eat which resulted in me losing 22 lbs. Also fatigue, headaches and depression. As soon as I stopped taking it there was a tremendous improvement. My doctor was more interested in my blood pressure then my complaints about my stomach.

I've been taking 5mg of Amlodipine for more than 10 years. Some of the side effects sound familiar, but too few occurrences and probably connected to other things I do (physical activity, diet). My doctor says it's key to take it at the exact time every day. If I miss by too many hours, I just skip it that day and make a conscious effort to relax more. So far, so good.

I had many of those “side effects”.
The only way I found out about what was happening with my body was when my PCP was on vacation, the replacement told me what I was seeing, even the blood spots under my skin on my legs.
I had a decision to make, either continue to take it, or get control of my body and what I was eating. I chose the latter. Against my PCP’s wishes, I did what was best for me!

Had most of those symptoms. Discussed with my doctor and that doctor refused to believe it was this medication. His parting words when he agreed to try another medical were "We'll see". That shows in itself how arrogant and uncaring my doctor was.
Changed to another medication and all of my symptoms brought on by this medication vanished by day 4. Yes - it was so evident.
I didn't go back to discuss the dramatic changes with me stopping this medication. Instead, I changed my doctors practice to a one which listens to patients and actually cares.
Makes me wonder just how many people suffer by listening to their doctor when their own bodies are telling them something isn't right...

I was on amlodipine for over ten years for controlling my blood pressure. Yep, edema was my side effect. With it came pain in the joints where the edema was forming. I was on 5mg. dosage. Stopped using it in 2013. No edema now and no joint pains. I was on three blood pressure medications, but now only on CARVEDILOL 12.5 MG TAB. My levels are average 108/64 and pulse of 62. I am a 72-year-old male. I had a kidney procedure done in 2014 and that reduced my dependency on multiple medications for maintaining my blood pressure.

We spend over a month on the road in my RV, That is when I noticed the edema and the joint pain. My wife told me later it was a honeymoon from hell. I was in constant pain and swelling. I was not nice to be with at that time. I survivied. So, that was a very good thing. We now are going on nine years and she has not killed me yet. There is hope. Thanks for your comment.

Your numbers look good. This drug only lowered mine around 15-20 points. I stopped taking it because it was giving me heart palpitations. I feel like it would have killed me. I'm averaging 150 for my top, been like this for over a decade so I guess if I'm going to die, which is unavoidable anyways I want it from my own issues not from taking something that causes a separate issue more severe than the reason for taking them....if this makes sense. ✌️
