Oh thank you so much for saying this! Agreed with 99% of his opinions but Toxtricity is the best design I have seen, I happened to have one with amazing Sp.Attk and its carried me through any battle no matter who it faces!

Also the fossil Pokemon Dracozolt, Arctozolt, Dracovish and Arctovish are references to how paleontologists in england, especially victorian england, were NOTORIOUS for putting fossils together wrong. So we have a mish-mash of fossil pokemon with parts that don't fit together :'D

I think Cufant is steel typing because it comes from the Cu which on the periodic table which means Copper. đ
Yeah. When I first saw it, I really was disappointed. But after digging around its origins, I REALLY fell in love with them.

Yes, adding the Steel typing would have really been the kicker this Pokemon needed to be more popular. I think it's cute, but pure Fighting types are surprisingly vulnerable.

I like Zamazenta a lot lot lot lot lot more than Zacian, but imo their typings shouldve switched with each other, Fighting seems more offensive and Fairy defensive..

I think the Applin concept of grass and dragon comes from the pendragon apple which is an apple from England
Ahh out of everything in the UK they could use for inspiration they chose an apple though. I just think it looks kinda ugly and weird. I get they are trying to relate the pokemon to the UK but surely they could take into consideration that people want cute/cool looking pokemon and not these monstrosities. đđ

Corviknight is based of Corvids which are Rooks, Crows, and Ravens, so naturally it would be dark in color. But then it's names include Rook, Squire, and Knight which are the progressive ranks for knights, so steel type is more fitting in that sense. Also probably not wanting to recopy Honchkrow for dark typing.

There's actually a reason all the fossil Pokémon here are mixed up. Way back when, English museums got a LOT of prehistoric fossils mixed up and jumbled together wrong. This is a nod to that infamous blunder.

Majority of these Pokemon designs are a big disappointment. Most of them look like theyâre made for Halloween and desserts.
The problem i have is with gamefreaks statement that they sacrificed the national pokedex and pokemon for high quality animations and other visual elements but then you see the numerous examples that people have already shown and you wonder if they care about fans or the money in pockets.

Honestly as someone who lives in the UK I don't know how they got some of these designs or the ones I do know the inspo of, how they butchered them so badly. I don't mind the first stages of most pokemon but the evolutions look so bad. Grookey and it's evolutions are probs the most normal looking in terms of a starter. But yeah hate all the food pokemon especially the apple one. Just like why? đđ

It's a reference to the Phalanx formation used by Spartans. The circles are the shields and its spiked spined are the spears.
Nathaniel M patolagos is also right both rome and greek armies used the phalanx formation
Falinx is actually a lot of little guy going in a straight line and trying to do coordonated walks,you can't see their eyes because they have shields over them.That's why it's a fighting type.
It's one of the best designs this gen imo,especially how they make a triangle formation when dynamaxed,too bad they break all pokemon logic by literally being like 10 pokemon in one

I find 90% of these disappointing but its fine
for some reason they made gen 5 look way better. A lot pf these are dispropotioned or the colors dont match or inconsistent evolution designs. At least gen 5 has a lot of good ones

What types would they have? Unless you want another Fire/Fighting and a Water/Dark there isn't much. And Grass Ground could work for Rillaboom, but quad weak to ice isn't great
Ninja Pickle Quad weak to ice would be fine, how many viable ice PokĂ©mon are even out there these days, plus Iâm not saying the designs should have a second typing, Iâm just saying I wished that they had made dual type starters whether thatâs with these starter designs or different ones.

Why don't they made that Darumaka a Fire / Ice pokemon . I read some fantasy novels that had this so called ' coldfire ' or 'bluefire' concept , I mean it was unique in it's own way and didn't had that type of pokemon before.

when it comes to pokemon, picking a favorite is ALWAYS a challenge. I think my Favorite from Sword Shield will have to be Coalossal. I am the most excited to use him and he will be on my team. (I hope he isn't a trade pokemon just because I hate that method). My starter will be Grookey.

the name falinx is a reference to "phalanx" which was a military strategy used by the greeks in which they stayed in close formation with shields up with spears so that is probably why it is fighting type.
