Fantastic beast crimes of Grindelwald Final Fight Scenes From the movie
Grindelwald preaches the abolition of laws concealing wizards from muggles, and utilizes images of the imminent Second World War to justify worldwide wizard supremacy and domination. Aurors surround the rally, led by Theseus, but Grindelwald fends them off while unleashing his emissaries to spread his word across Europe. Okay I just want to explain why I love this scene and see if you guys agree:
1) Grindelwald portrays himself to his followers as a freedom fighter, and I can totally see why people followed him because he’s a great villain, manipulative and charismatic (unlike Voldemort who ruled through fear)
2) the SOUNDTRACK omg
3) the blue fire spell (protego diabolica) is just AWESOME
4) how he uses his wand like he’s conducting the flames is just wow
5) the way Credence and Grindelwald hug is everything Voldemort wanted to seem like and closely mirrors the scene where he hugs Draco
6) the effects are amazing
7) this is kinda a tangent: can we talk about how Newt is holding his own against Grindelwald, who eats trained Aurors for breakfast, and he was expelled from Hogwarts and didn’t get to finish his education, because I feel like Newt doesn’t get enough credit for that
I'm a little late (understatement) on this but I love this stuff too. I get the hate though. Everyone is making valid arguments. I'm just a straight up sucker for more wand battles honestly. I will say, that Auror MIGHT have made a bad judgement call...I'm just saying...He could have slapped her.
I'm still salty by the fact that Johny Depp will no longer play as Grindelwald.. He's the best cast for all I know.
This guy is definitely stronger than Voldemort, not only did he persuade an entire crowd to join him but he performed the most powerful spell we have seen so far, protego diabolica
@@Antimony145 Dumbledore is superior to both Grindelwald AND Voldemort, so that doesn't say anything. Maybe Grindelwald isn't as powerful as Voldemort in terms of magical ability and strength, but he is easily a much more skilled opponent than Voldemort, utilizing far more creative spells and abilities. Voldemort just likes to spam killing curses over and over again.

Plus he(Grindelwald) nearly destroyed an entire city and at least 2 dozen aurors with a single spell. Voldemort barely held upagainst McGonnagal, Flitwick and Slughorn combined. He wouldve ran away had he been in this circumstance.
Dumbledore and Grindelwald are like two sides of the same coin. Very much alike but very different as well. They both could outclass Voldermort. They were perfect rivals. But Voldermort is hands down way more dangerous.
@@arnoldmendoza1674 I’d say in terms of power alone Voldemort is more dangerous, whereas Grindelwald is equally as dangerous, if not more so, because of his influence: Voldemort ruled through fear, Grindelwald ruled through persuasion.
@@xxTheTruMan196 Voldemort had no reason to cast anything other than the Killing Curse by virtue of his Horcruxes. The most quick and efficient spell to deal with lesser witches and wizards that he can overpower, and who can do little to defeat him.
Remember that his more varied forms of magic only came into play in Order of the Phoenix against Dumbledore. For two reasons. One is that Voldemort to an extent feared Dumbledore and two because he knew that Dumbledore wasn't an opponent that he could beat by overpowering him. So he conjured a fiery snake, directed thousands of shards of shattered glass and when that failed, he went for Harry. Dumbledore's weakness in that moment. All without the Elder Wand.
Harry was an anomaly to Voldemort. Lily's protection charm shielded him until Goblet of Fire, their wands sharing a bond shielded Harry (why Voldemort attempts to use Lucius' wand), the Elder Wand rightfully belonging to Harry protected him and allowed Draco's wand to overpower it. By all accounts Voldemort should've been able to kill Harry with little difficulty using only the Killing Curse, he has personally faced far stronger and more talented aurors. Had he learned not to underestimate Harry's plot armour and used his own wand in the final duel then Voldemort, while Horcruxless, would've finally killed Harry and survived the Battle of Hogwarts.
While we didn't see Voldemort do anything near as flashy as Protego Diabolica... That doesn't mean he didn't have the capacity to, and given the context, it makes sense why he didn't.
I will forever be sad watching the Fantastic Beasts movies. Johnny Depp was the PERFECT Grindelwald (for this age category/moment in Wizarding history). Jude Law and Johnny Depp were the perfect casting choices. Johnny literally made Grindelwald come to life!! From the little we know of him from HP books, I couldn't have imagined a better actor playing Grindelwald. Alas, I will at least be happy that we got to see him as Grindelwald in the second FB movie.
But isn't it for a just cause? WB had to fire him to protect their integrity, and honestly, I think they made the right choice morally

@@riverscurry2436 The lawsuit that he lost wasn't against Heard but against a UK newspaper called The Sun which he was attempting to sue for libel. And there are audio recordings that show Amber being violent towards Johnny, not the other way around.

Grindelwald is absolutely right. Unless certain measures are taken magical blood will be diluted out of existence. I think magic users should have a country of their own to protect their existence as a unique people. There is not a single thing hateful about that. As a matter of fact, trying to frame this as some sort of "hate crime" is a hate crime in itself against the magic people.

I was skeptical about Depp doing this role but OMG he absolutely owned the role and also the franchise despite only appearing in bits. As Grindelwald Depp managed to create the kind of impact that Ralph Fiennes wasn’t able to as Voldemort.

So WB fires the best part about this movie because a tabloid is allowed to call him "wifebeater" despite all evidence pointing to him being the victim. Nice world we live in.
Sadly a lot of this happens in abusive relationships such as this one. And I hate to say this but it is usually the man who has to take the full blame even if he is the victim. Johnny unfortunately is now a victim of this unfair decision.

If you read the books you would know Voldemort has a very well explained back story & clear character motivations, yeah he might be a little two dimensionel but saying he has ”no character” is ridiculus. Grindewald is the most power dark wizard in the Harry Potter Universe. It's a shame they removed Depp because he's perfect as Grindewald.

@Therese Davis Yes there is. The bomb and WW2 actually happened (we know it did). In the film's timeline it still hasn't (so for many of the characters it's still something to come). Grindelwald is using it to spread fear among wizards. He uses a horrific event to polarize society, blaming muggles and saying they could be dangerous for wizards too since they're able to cause mass destruction. His speech is no different in that regard to those of some totalitatian figures who have manipulated portions of society before.
Imagine how hard people would study at a wizard school knowing that every spell they learned could be extremely beneficial and powerful. Controlling fire, blasting holes through walls, making objects float, making objects disintegrate etc

This was probably the main reason the Wizard society was secret in the 1st place (combined with the superstition and witch trials)

Grindalwald single handedly killed many auras, almost wipe out an entire city, and only with the combine strength of many many powerful witches and wizards forming a shield to barely stop his attack. Meanwhile Voldemort cant even kill an underage kid.

Yes it is a mixture of fiend-fire and firestorm that Dumbledore used in the half-blood prince to save Harry. Firsetorm kills everyone as instructed by the wizard and so is fiend fire. Fiend fire resembles dark magic while firestorm is a much more whiter version of it but causes the same damage.
And this is when Queenie became the most hated character in fantastic beasts

I know I'm a year late to this comment, so I apologize, but in self defense or another justified reason, a wizard can use lethal force (avada kedavra). She drew on him and he had no way of knowing what she was going to cast at him, I believe this would fall under justifiable self defence on the aurors part.

In all honesty the more movies come out, the more forgiving these curses seem to be. Are the books like this? Harry uses imperio and crucio like newspaper delivery boy and no one bats an eye, hell even Sectunsempra which is arguably way worse than Crucio or AK. He even gets to have kids. Still dont forgive him.

I did not recognize Johnny Depp in any movies after the he got famous from the chocolate factory to fantastic beasts because he completely vanished for the appearance of the character. His eyes are so powerful for Grindelwald. And plus he is the handsome evil.

Its so good to see the detailing that the moviemakers adhered to. If we look closely, Grindelwald uses the Elder Wand, and in the books, it is Grindelwald who is the predecessor of the wand before Dumbledore gets it.

Voldy is more powerful. He was not defeated when he fought against Dumbledore (who had the Elder Wand). Grinderwald on the other hand lost to Dumbledore, despite having the Elder Wand. Also, Voldy is considered the most powerful dark wizard of all time. Grinderwald is a close second
