- One of the absolute best pier fishing and saltwater fishing is the SKYWAY PIER! After a slow first day of fishing, we are hoping to get some pompano, snook, black sea bass, or anything else that will bite! We are having so much fun catching and cooking food for our friends, so our goal is to catch dinner! It’s pompano season, so of course, that's what we’re hoping for (one of our favorite fish to eat). Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit czcams.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

I was recently on vacation only a few miles from this bridge and had similar luck from the local piers and beaches, keep it up!
Three way fishing rigs are pretty common in freshwater from casting to trolling. It allows for natural presentation of live bait and lures. It's really common and a favorite rig in many freshwater parts of the US.

I work in the fishing department at bass pro, I often recommend the knocker rig. Its a super simple and easy rig to tie, and it works awesome!
It’s super simple and works so well!
The knocker rig also works great in freshwater. We use it here on our channel to catch monster blue catfish on the James River ✌️
@@2StansFishing I always just go for the Carolina rig when people ask about catfish, sounds like im going to have to throw in the knocker too!

@@frostizz2072 Fish for the most part don't care, structure or not it works fine. Most of the beach doesn't have that much structure as its quite open. Structure helps mainly to find fish.

We fish there all the time and we cast way out to the rock piles and or are on our ganoe but where we fish it's possible to cast and we catch so many fish that we make multiple videos in 1 day. Glad to see you there though hopefully you come back and catch some bigger ones

That rig that u were using with the sinker down at the hook we call that a running sinker rig
If you get a bite and it feels like a rock, then it can be a dolphin too. Last time I went there I kept getting all my bait stolen by smart dolphins. They bite the bait only and hold it until you rip the hook off the bait and leave them with a free snack

I tried fishing that sky pier, it’s so big. I did not catch anything worth keeping.
In Clearwater pier 60, I got a ship’s head but it was on smaller keep size, barely a meal. It’s hard to fish here with all the tourist.
I have 2 year old , that sky pier has poor railing, so it’s not safe to fish with kids.
Watch your state regulations! That pomp he caught here in Texas your required to release it if it's foul hooked. No kidding. Lol

As I understand it, chumming is not permitted from the beach or on shore, as this can draw sharks. Chumming IS permitted off piers or boats.

I tried the salty squid. I ended up throwing most of it away cuz it got old and really smelly. I really love your tutorials/videos and really wanted to support you but that didn't work for me.
It's like jerky or any preserved dry meat. Have to keep unused bait dry and drain the liquid if any present so that it doesn't rot.
Any dry meat exposed to humidity and and the environment will start smelling and rot.
it's also good to keep it in a cool place.
if it goes bad, it's human error whether when preparing it or storing it whether at home or at the fishing location.
even live fresh bait goes bad if not stored properly.
hope this information helps. part of fishing is storing bait properly from the environment whether at home or on the fishing spot.

skyway is pretty dead except for mackerals and kings.
There are other fishes during different times of the year. Snappers, groupers, sheepheads, snook. But right now, it’s the macs and kings.
