The Skyway used to be one of the best places in the world to fish 1980 - 1986. When the old bridge got hit they obviously cut all power and put up a fence trying to prohibit people from fishing on it. I fished it hard during this time usually at night using a kerosene lantern, most nights I would have 200+ snook under my lantern many in the 40lb range, I was one of the few who jumped the fence for the reward of the best fishing in the world, it was just me and a few friends. Now, you have to pay, and it’s overloaded with people and lit up like a Christmas tree spreading out what few fish are left. What ashamed……
What also ruined the fishing are the fishermen who keep undersized fish and over limit. Which it’s ok people have to eat but the rules are there to keep the fishing good.
when you live there you can pick and choose and have good days and bad days. i live in chicago, when i come down there and go fishing, im just so damned happy to be there that if i dont catch anything, im still not in freaking chicago.

can we sleep overnight in the small RV?I've heard Tampa bay w/ red tide for last 2 years an the fertilizer factory dumping toxic waste has ruined the bay for fishing. it's killed saw grass/ mamals/birds turtles fish all marine life.
SKYWAY STINKS. You need to take a online course to be allowed to fish it and you can't even sign up for it. Doesn't work. If the gear changes actually work, why do you have to take a course? It's ridiculous to risk getting a ticket and a fine for the chance to catch a crappy mackerel.

@@VizoMediaGroup ladyfish, mullet most of the time to target the bigger fish, pilchards worked as well just smaller fish.
