  • Here is a fine Skyway fishing pier grouper secret or a top fishing tip. I have showed you how to find the rock piles, the Deeper Sonar allows you to obtain the details. Why I like using the Deeper: You can pinpoint fish, structure new piles that might skirt the outside of your regular piles that don't get pressured as much. Not only that you have less line and leader to get hung up on. Free lining allows you to cover the most water while being extremely effective. If you enjoyed today's Skyway tackle tip, be sure to like, share and subscribe.

      I am about to buy a boat so land fishing may be a thing of the past for me. Also, the skyway is a pretty good run South from where I live in Clearwater so I doubt I'll float down there either. Once in a while I'll race my daughter there and back on the Yamaha Waverunners from the Cortney Campbell causeway but that's about it lol

    It's been a while since I've hit the skyway, man. This is a great video! I used cut pinfish to catch a redfish and a tarpon at my fishing spot last saturday. First time for both! Got the baby juvie tarpon first then the red maybe an hour or so, roughly, later. All under a popping cork. I had something attacking my bait, so i reeled in the bait, under a cajun thunder, and the tarpon came out of nowhere and smacked it. Was really fun until the line to the hook went. 20# seagar fluoro vs a 15 lb tarpon...ya... didn't work out too well. Love your vids, man. Keep up the good work! @@Saltyscales Is there a big difference between running mono vs braid? For my heavy setup, I have 100# power pro to 100# mono with a snap swivel (rated at 150#). Went deep sea fishing, used a thin wire circle hook. Big ass grouper straightened out the hook. Still have that hook in my truck, haha. The capt said before we left that we may not even see any grouper. Yea. Proved them wrong. It happened seconds as we were getting ready to go home. :/ bummer and a half.

    Every time I free line a bait out there it ends up getting picked off the hook by the dolphins haha, is there anything I can do about this?

    • @Saltyscales
      @Saltyscales  Před 5 lety +1

      Dolphins can make it very challenging. Get the bait out 80 yards, try whitebait and cut bait also.

    • @davidmurray6176
      @davidmurray6176 Před 2 lety

      Get some hot sauce that melts your face and inject it into bait. Once the dolphin snag a couple they will learn to leave your fishing area alone. I used to live in Pinellas Park and fish the skyway pier and hit rock piles off a boat along the beaches.I never use cut bait always live or lures.
