Earl mastered a wonderful instrument, the banjo. Lester mastered a wonderful instrument, his voice. Two of the greatest in bluegrass music!

Lester is the most famous bluegrass legend but there is so little video about his life that I know. I have listen to him for 40 years and this is the first time I heard him speak off the stage. Awesome clip

This clip touched me so much, I'll tell you why, Lester is my great uncle, my grandma was Clara Flatt Poston and when I heard this it answer a question I've had for years why did daddy buy ma a banjo for mother's day and why did she get mad and say I told you I would never play again. I was very young and didn't understand and I have asked around and found out that Lester was talking about ma

Thanks. What an amazing time in America..... love Flatt & Scruggs.
But almost every style of music from the 50’s , 60’s, and 70’s was performed with great sincerity. 100% commitment to the music.

I believe if Lester and Earl had stuck with pure bluegrass in the late sixties like Lester wanted too they would have continued to have great success and Earl could have taken his sons on the road with them as an opening act.
