It brings back so many memories. For me. A different time. A better time. Happy times
I grew up in the 60's listening to Flat and Scruggs. My dads favorite. Mine too. Wish I could go back to them days. I miss them days so much.
Don't we all 😔
It just doesn’t get any better than Lester & Earl 🪕🪕🪕🎻🎻🎻🎤
With exception of Bill Monroe.
65 years later...and they're STILL better than anyone else!
Yes, They are still going strong. Sorry we lost Bill Monroe though.
@@dabneyoffermein595 Me too--I just loved Monroe. I got to see him live a number of times since 1969!
They sure know how to wear them hats. The greatest generation.
They laugh and have a good time. Very pleasant
Probably the best music ever played hear how pure it sounds ❤
Iam 50. I used to watch my dad and his friends play there music all time when I was a kid that's how I learn to play
That was great music and fun to hear. Thanks, the group has so much talent.
I love watching the old performances. They play such intricate music, singing too, live no less without the facial contortions and constipated grimaces of performers now. I can't stand watching them while poker faced Scruggs plays the 5 string is a wonder to watch.
I still buy Martha white because of them
i paid 45, cents to see this band back in the early 50,s
Was that considered a lot of money ?
No one will ever be better than Earl Scruggs.
Up until these shows showed up on YT I had only my columbia LPs to hear this band as a kid in the 60's.
It doesn’t get any better than this folks, the real deal.
Love Flatt and Scruggs, and their band. This is my kind of music.
Flatt scruggs were the realest people I think I've ever known thay were so good or should I say that they were great loved thair music so much and I still do and I'm 68 years old and never get enough of them just saying
Wow they really love singing Mountain Dew for those who don't know, before the Soda drink they called moon shine "Mountain Dew".
Been drinking Mountain Dew (the soda, that is!) since 1966!
What's A soder drank??
I was reckon'in about that...
The soda MD was suppose to be a mixer, like Jack and cola
Amazing all the fantastic talents I am observing. I am 68 years old and I love the way they perform but especially the tunes. Wish they could continue to record. Miss all of them.
Love everything that they sing 😍
First show I ever saw on Grandma's TV I was 5 yrs old. Still like them. Now 73.
Greatest bluegrass band ever !!
W0W W0W W0W W0W what fantastic music 🎶
Mr Scruggs is the best bingo player in the world
Yeah he always wins haha
Jake Tullock- Bass, Tenor.
Josh Graves- Dobro and Bass, Had A Instrumental Voice.
Lester Flatt- Guitar, Tenor, Baritone.
Earl Scruggs- Banjo and Guitar, Baritone.
Paul Warren- Fiddle, Bass.
Curly Seckler- Mandolin and Guitar, Tenor
Frank (Hylo) Brown- Guitar, Baritone and Assisted Tenor Sometimes.
Don't think you can call Lester Flatt a tenor singer. He could sing tenor and an exceptional bariitone. For that matter could carry any part he choosed to. A voice that transends time and defies labels.
@@davidhicks8138 didn’t know what to put him as so I put tenor. I really don’t know what josh graves sang.
@@foggymountainmusic3468 I am not sure about Josh Graves singing. His picking on that dobro left me in amazement.
All are in Heaven now playing for the Lord 🙏
I hadn't listened to bluegrass for some time. Lester Flatt sure has got a unique and pleasant voice . This music really picks up my spirits .
Hilo is a unique bluegrass star. His voice has not been duplicated even to this day. Annetteparker777@gmail.com
@@annetteparker3471 is that him on bass on one song? Looks like him.
@@annetteparker3471 edess 😃😙😚🙂2
You are damn right he has an incredible voice, hylo brown and uncle josh also have really good tone in their voices, such incredible musical talent
Great selection of Flatt and Scruggs. Shout out to Josh Graves. Simply the best .
The best of Bluegrass singer....
What a great miracle: me getting to hear these guys after all this time -- I never had any idea they were such awesome musicians...Thank you from my heart!
The 👌 best bluegrass ever
I love to watch them every chance I get. My favorite times is when they are on The Beverly Hillbillies. Why can't they make T.V. shows like that now? Hee Haw too.
You bet!! Granny always made them sing for supper!!❤️🥰
The way they changed everything to cater to Hollywood. They did away with good tv shows
The WOKE crowd ruined everything from Hollywood to Elections. Sigh.
Hee Haw. I miss that show 😔
A true legend the best ever thanks
So much beauty in one single video
Sunday morning listening...background for lifting the spirits. Great bluegrass! The best of U.S.A. home-grown talent.
Enjoy the singing and picking
I saw these guys in New Haven,Ct in the early 60s,I was about 6 ,it was sold out we were in the rafters but it was good, and I'm glad I was there, with my Dad and his lead guitar player,Dan Bushey
57 minutes is too short for this. I absolutely love this.
Lester flatt was such a cool dude ,back in the day ,love his voice and laid back style ,can pick a guitar too..
It don't get no better.
My cousin Earl was best banjo picker, ever!
Alright! That’s enough outta you Jake! Too much much! Love these guys thanks to my Dear Mother who got me to Garner Bluegrass Festival to actually see Merle and Doc, but I missed Lester, and what a cut up he was and still is!
Boy I ain't gonna get no sleep tonight after listening at this .

Them boys knew how to wear hats.
実に懐かしい!
青春時代、レコード店巡りで渋谷道玄坂界隈をうろついていました。
When someone says bluegrass, I think instantly of this outfit.
The whole band kick's ass.
Good ole picking 😂❤
Great!!!😀😃😄😎
Cookin fried squash and a cold P.B.R good times down on the cumberland tonight.
At 10:18, they Launch into a deceptively fast version of the song that set the bar, and established the benchmark for this tune for all future bands. You cannot do better than this. You can only hope to come close to it. The average non-musician viewer has no comprehension of how difficult it is instrumentally to play this fast first of all, then secondly, at this breakneck speed to maintain the tempo from the first note to the last note without ever wavering so much as a millisecond, and finally, to keep everyone plucking or bowing their respective strings in absolute EXACT synchrony (called being “tight” in band parlance) right till the final note. Most bands will definitely be at the top end of their performance capability performing this song at this rate, and these legends aren’t even breaking a sweat. In fact, they make it appear so effortless that the actual speed of the song gets lost in its Lester Flatt’s vocal smoothness and you might have to look twice to recognize what titanic musicianship you are witnessing.
centerice 100%
Three verses, three choruses, three breaks, works out to exactly 160 BPM alla breve. I guess Lester didn't like paying any overtime.
You said it all.
Someone once said that Earl had it made because every song he ever recorded was the definitive version of that song because HE was the one playing it. Any questions?
Went on a mountain dew binge for a while and it almost killed me at 20 years old
That dobro is slick
thats some mighty fine picken and grinnin right there
Awesome
Scruggs is a genius!
I believe the Guiness book of world records declared Scruggs to be the "most imitated musician in the whole world"....and I agree!
@@Pickinbuddy Great observation!
Scruggs people are for real! Just not many of us left, unfortunately! Proud of my Daddy's name!
Oi.love bluegrass.🥰
Josh Graves must've been quite a character!
Thank you
Thanks for cutting out those annoying baking adds its much appreciated. Ads were just as relentless back then as they are today xD
😊😊😊😊😊
Mountaindew free whew
great
Definitely makes watching Nascar more enjoyable
Yup, tv cameras of mid sixties did a weird mono chromatic reflection in black and white...You can see same during JFK, Johnson era...Color tv cameras came in shortly after, 1965.....Easy to date stuff!
Ballads of Jessie James,
Brilliant! Flatt and Scruggs with Bill Monroe and this video are all you need.
I don't think Mr. Bill would have anything to do with it, actually. Considering he didn't speak to either of them for decades after they left.
Include the Stanley brothers and Id agree .
That guitar player has a voice with quite a range sings high sounds like bill monroe
Zen bluegrass
Bad Ass!
Earl Scruggs... You are the Eddie Van Halen.of banjo!
Eddie van Halen is Earl of guitar my friend
6年間続いたテレビシリーズだそうですが、これを見て育ったアメリカのアーティストは多かったのではないでしょうか。
This show ran from the mid fifty's thru parts of 1969 when they disolved their partnership.
Il y a de l'Irlande !
Earl iso clean polished

My st people don't have any idea. That this is where Little Ricky scagges came f om
This is the shit as far bluegrass goes!!
Lol why are they all wearing there hats off to the side , Excellent playing tho
In my opinion it adds drama. Like it's really windy outside
The bass singer on "Deal Go Down" may not have been J.D. Sumner, but J.D. couldn't fiddle like Paul.
Dang part one got took down
This isn’t the grand ole opry ,it’s their tv show
It is Martha White's Grand Ole Opry Show.
Its a show sponsored by laundry detergent or flour or something. Back when people ate real food and clean their laundry the right way which was the white way (BLEACH!!!!!)
What happened to the Earl Scruggs instrumental video? With the banjo thumbnail it disappeared?
Hi Mike it seems ‘part 3’ is gone, will you bring this one back?
I'm sorry, part 1 was deleted by you tube on account of alleged copyright infringement. There are other videos on this channel that have also been deleted recently, and may be more to come, unfortunately.
