How the Flood are the beginning, middle, and end of the Halo universe

- We all know how spooky and cool the Flood are, but what if I told you they act as the 3 main anchor points of all life in the Halo universe? What if I told you all life was created by them, and will likely be destroyed by them?
Hopefully this video enhances how creepy the Flood actually are for this very reason, and not just in a physical manner. We were even created by them! (Kinda!) Now that's some food for thought...

I think Xperia has been inflicted with the logic plague. Honey, where's my firebombs?
That would the most dangerous thing ever. He has all the knowledge of the universe. We don’t want that knowledge getting into the Floods hands
I think your previous theory on how the halo universe is in a time loop further proves this point
Benny ray Rillmann I agree it does even more prove it tbh :)
Yeah, I really think that theory has a lot of support considering what we know about the Precursors and Flood
Lmao I loved how u use cocaine as the dust lmao
This is why ur in my notifications lol
Shadow King Tai Lopez as Knowledge 😂
😂 as soon as I seen it I had to look in the comments to see if anyone else did too
Why do you know that?
Police...
... is Hidden Xperia secretly a Precursor trying to demoralise us for the Flood's return? O_o
I know that thumbnail from spartan assault, when i first saw that cutscene and the music,it was creepy, and roland saying that earth would have fallen in hours?that's fucked up creepy!
darth vader Ikr
Unless he changed it it’s from h2a
darth vader what mission was it from?
Can you tell what is the soundtrack?
darth vader around 4 minutes?
So... what happens if the flood take over the entire universe? Yes, I mean universe, not galaxy. Does that mean they no longer have any food left to eat and starve or do they become self sustainable?
Terrabite someone please answer this.
Lost Guardian it would be very ironic if the first option happened.
Maybe they will evolve back into Precursors and re-seed the universe once again, starting the cycle all over again.
RenegadeParagon Holy Shit
Terrabite they try to eat the multiverse, Obviously!
So shot in the dark here. If the root cause for the Floods existence is the corruption of the Precusaur dust (the most basic form/road map of the Floods genetic makeup) would it be reasonable to assume that if you where able to find said dust you could attempt to reverse engineer it to find a cure or at least a genetic superweapon against the Flood. Maybe that will be the end goal in later Halo games eh?
Night Shade that’s what the ancient humans did. It sorta worked but failed at the end.
I’ve really enjoyed these flood videos
Zacimus Prime Me too man :)
This is why I watch hiddenxperia
It's so helpful for understanding
Halo
Berend Alkema Ikr he's so great in providing such detailed Lore videos about the wonderful Sci-Fi universe of Halo and truly has taught me so much about the Flood :)
Truly the Flood have so much meaning that's one of the main reasons why I love them so much as well its quite the interesting thing that the Flood are the deciders of the fate of the Halo Universe I honesty very much hope we get at least some hint of this ultimate reality deciding test in Halo 6 I would geek the fuck out if that will happen anyway loved this video Xperia and can't wait for the next one!!!! :)
Luke Skywalker the 2nd We love you too, come and join us, it will be fun☺☺☺
Luke Skywalker the 2nd Little do you know if the flood aren't defeated they will probably effectively end the HALO series, who wants more games about a struggling almost non existent life force fighting to kill something that cannot be killed, it would seem pointless to even continue the series if the flood weren't gonna be defeated
If the Flood *are* the test, then the Precursors probably knew they would turn into them. Their deaths and eventual corruption was planned to make a worthy successor or kill the universe. Damn.
Salah Ad-Din well the primordial said that the flood existed now for one purpose to bring the galaxy the same pane the precursors felt and so that non of there creations would never rise up against them
Knowledge 3:15
"From the beginning you know the end"... Halo is basically one big repeating circle (no pun intended) in terms of the story; (remember the warthog run in Halo 3 = exact ending of Combat Evolved). I would bet that if and when Halo concludes it will be similar to Halo Reach (Bungies last Halo game) and the sacrifices that happened with Noble Team and Noble 6. Halo 6 = Noble 6. Blue team = Noble Team etc...
Great video! Thanks hidden for bringing us all the lore and flood knowledge the halo universe deserves!
Just found you and watched most of your vids your by far the best halo story teller on the platform you deserve more subs
The only CZcams that doesn’t stretch videos out
in warfleet it says that in the modern halo universe, the surviving precursors have sunk to unreachable depths. whatever that means.
in other words they'll be back
My God. This is the stuff of nightmares if (like me) you've been listening to this all day and night. After a while, it gets PRETTY FUCKING CREEPY. Nonetheless, great job Xperia.
The flood are the test for every species who wants to obtain the mantle. The precursors turned into the flood to test the forerunners and they were correct about the forerunner not being the right species for the mantle. Now it is humanity's turn to face the flood at its height, using cortona as the new mendican bias. (If i spell that right) also i now think this because of these videos. You put it in an easy to understand format. Love you bro keep it up!
Thanks for making these awesome videos. You don't get enough credit :)
HiddenXperia! Are you a grave mind??!?!?! Either way, you're mastery of the Halo universe has earned my subscription!
I love your channel. It's perfect for us people who have an unhealthily obession with the flood
Keep up the flood videos! Always excited for whenever you upload one:))
I wish the Halo games dug more into the insanely deep lore instead of the most elaborate game of hide n seek like in Halo 5.
Loremaster HiddenXperia, Preacher of The Flood.
Now that's a fucking cool title.
what if there is a precursor who after it's dust corrupted, it turned into a kind of Gravemind. It was leading the flood to obtain greater mass from the remaining species (near the end of the forerunner-flood war), but then comes across the halo rings. I think it (as a pretty humongous Gravemind at this point would be smart enough to get as far away from the "Halo" galaxy (from now on called galaxy A) as possible. It leaves a large portion of it's fleet in the galaxy A but it and some of it's "military" move out of the galaxy, maybe even to a new one. It leaves galaxy A to a new one (galaxy B), and the halo rings go off. Life is reborn in galaxy A, but precursor-Gravemind doesn't realize it, prioritizing collecting any mass in galaxy B. A new gravemind develops in galaxy A (like we see in the game franchise) and takes control because old gravemind isn't able to control from that far away very well. It will eventually eat all the mass in galaxy B, and unless it wants to travel an even farther distance to another galaxy, it will return to galaxy A to see if any mass was still left. Either 1. Humanity will be ready for the mantel and this will be their task or 2. everything has been wiped out, perhaps at this point the precursor-Gravemind will have found at the ancient ways for creating new species, and will consume them for mass at a later date.
TL;DR: Precursor left the galaxy before halo rings went off, and is eating up mass in another galaxy. This would allow it to return at a later date to regenerate lifeforms in our galaxy for more mass
P.S. All of my Halo lore comes from in-game or CZcams, so if I don't know some comic book lore that would make this fault, letting me know would be great so these will be backed up better in the future
Me and my brother were theorizing about the Gravemind and his every incarnation having the same mind and memories, we came to the possibility that the Flood may have their own form of the Domain (which considering who they are almost makes sense) and that the reason that Graveminds have the same mind, is because that a Gravemind as we know it are the only Flood forms, or even living beings, that have enough mental capacity to access this Flood domain, something that basic combat forms and even Proto-Graveminds cannot do, While Keyminds would act as almost something like a Router, in this sense you could call the Gravemind something like a cell tower to the Flood "Internet", This is based on what my Brother and Me know about the Flood from gameplay and what we've seen from your videos. We thought that you might like to hear this idea, and would love to hear your take on it, If there's something that disproves this idea we'd like to hear it as well.
Very interesting
Okay combining all previous information you have stated, since graveminds can share memories from past versions of them selves and the primordial was as you said, half precursor half gravemind flood, wouldn't hypothetically if the galaxy was taken over by the flood in stage 4, there would have to be at least one gravemind if not more, and they would have knowledge of all previous graveminds and would also have the knowledge of the precursor therefore the flood would be able to restart the Galaxy or use the seeds to maintain a stable supply of food. Who knows but I would love to see a video about my theory. Thank you.
Terrance Epherema It's somewhat implied that the flood have lost the knowledge of the precursors street the Halo firings. Also, there can be only one Gravemind at a time. To my knowledge, no real reason has been given. Even during the Flood-Forerunner war, when the flood was at its peak and actually was very close to entering the Intergalactic stage of the flood, there was only one Gravemind. However, there were several Key Minds and plenty of smaller Proto-Graveminds. The key minds were planets where most, if not all, of the planets biomass had been assimilated. These things turned into biological supercomputers, and they rivaled and sometimes exceeded the highest class of Forerunner ancillas (only two examples of this class of ancilla were Mendicant Bias and Offensive Bias, but it could be argued that Offensive Bias was not a true ancilla since he didnt have a personality) in their ability to process data.
Vincent Bar you are forgetting the details of the gravemind. The one we see in halo 2 and 3 had memories of forrerunner flood war. So it would hypothetically have memories of the precursor, which was half primordial, and half gravemind flood.
There can be multiple Graveminds at once but they all contian the same mind/essence/soul so there's no distinction between them.
Brian Beatty So, basically, it's the same entity, but just several bodies?
Love your videos bro.
Thanks man :)
Love the use of the humble brag KNAWLAGE guy lol
"Knowledge" lmao. Goddamnit you got me bro. You got me.
So, here in my garage
Love ur vids. Hope ur Chanel grows
Preston Garvey
Another minutemen needs your help. Here i'll Mark it on your map.
If the humans accept the mantel it will be like yeah remember when you almost drove us to extinction forget about it I'll protect you you now
Just gonna leave that here because I want to see a video about this...
It was Bungie's plan to make Cortana evil since Halo CE, they hinted it in their developpers commentary of Halo CE and in the Cortana Letters :
"
I have walked the edge of the Abyss. -----Cortana dying at the end of Halo 4
I have governed the unwilling. -----Cortana in Halo 5
I have witnessed countless empires break before me. -----The Guardians in Halo 5
I have seen the most courageous soldiers fall away in fear. -----All those fignting for their freedom against her
[I was there with the Angel at the tomb]
I have seen your future.
And I have learned. -----Cortana in Halo 5 convinced she is right (because logic plague)/or fighting the logic plague
There will be no more Sadness. No more Anger. No more Envy. -----She says the same thing in Halo 5
I HAVE WON.
Oh, and your poet Eliot had it all wrong:
THIS is the way the world ends.
"
It all make son much sens, and that "all right! shoot!" at the end of Halo 2 meant : Allright! What is the plan? And everything after that was all the plan of the Gravemind... The flood will be the end.
PLZ notice me XD
Just imagine- what if Cortanas logic plague and her dive into the Domain was part of Primordials final test? I mean, if she is confronting humanity AND the flood emerges, the whole point of the test was to overcome the conflict and work together against the threat. And only one man can convince her to stop the onslaught. Would've been amazing.
Luv ur video's. Must have more FLOOD
"Juicy Flood" sounds absolutely horrid thought although I'm sure they're full of Flood juice. Yum
Love vids keep up
this got me thinking, what if the flood is the precursor species and they have to reevolve back to their Godlike status
Floods weakness: knowledge cant be destroyed only carried on by discovery no matter what the flood does life always prevails
Man i love my routine if im playing cod im watching marley13 for halo is this amazing channel
If you don’t mind, I’d just like to make a quick correction about the Precursors:
1. as far as we’re aware, the Primordial may have been the first Gravemind, but he was not the Flood until his mind became one with the Flood.
2. The Flood is not synonymous with the Precursors as a whole. They are the corrupted remains of Precursors and in turn have a philosophy that is a perversion if the Mantle. Keep in mind that there are still very likely Precursors that are unchanged in other galaxies.
3. Not all intelligent life in the Milky Way is confirmed to be creations of the Precursors. The only species that have been confirmed to be of Precursor origin are the humans and Forerunners, hence their genetic similarity despite being from different planets. (And even then it’s confusing that humans still seem to have come from earlier Terran hominids) It would be rather unfair to natural evolution to claim that all intelligence is the result of Precursors interference.
4. We are currently unsure as to whether the Flood was accidental, as the Primordial seemed quite willing to use it against the Forerunners. This brings up the question of whether the Precursors were actually gods and were infallible or if they were just ridiculously advanced but could still make mistakes and hold grudges. Personally I find it very interesting to try and figure out Precursors motives and logic, but in the end it’s almost assured that they’re simply too advanced for us to understand either.
Welcome one and all to the church of the primordials, the flood sect lead by HiddenXperia himself. XD
I think it would be great if Halo 6 leads up to the final test. Obviously featuring Chief, inevitably having to fully destroy Cortana to take the first step towards proving we can make the necessary sacrifices to hold the mantle. Halo 7 The Final Test.
currently stressed as fuck but these vids help me out. thank you.
whats funny is when he talks about them testing humanity it shows super soldiers, AI then he says knowledge and a random ass dude * dw i know who he is* pops up and says KNOWLEDGE
26th century humanity doesn't have Tai Lopez though, they oughta be safe for a while.
Make a video about the Precursors and everything about them!
Halo 6 needs a villain a proper well thought out villain and there's no one better than the Last Primordial
I remember when halo was just about a green astronaut killing aliens and riding off to victory
I really hope we get to see the flood vs the Prometheans in halo 6 after all, that is why they were created.
This is how i took those photos at the start.Precursors died they turn into cokaine someone pissed on it and then it turns to flood.
3:15 really? why did you bring him here XD
Wait so the flood is the final test for humanity, but wasn't the flood made by accident?!
Gruntsku11 Gamer the primordials didn't know there own dust was corrupted so yes it was made by accident
The Mantel of Responsibility.
One must be responsible for their own creation.
Parents responsible for their child, PC for their seeds.
PC "seeded" the galaxy. And in an attempt for immortality compromised their seeds via flood.
"Test for worthiness" might not be what the PC will do so much as what will happen.
It's like " to the victor go the spoils". If you win, that doesn't mean your opponent gave you the spoils.
So the mantle of responsibility for the seed and for the flood will be inherited. Not because the PC gave it to us.
The Mantel of responsibility is to care for the existence of all life. That's why FR built the ark. And re-seeded the galaxy after the flood. If the seeds grow strong, they could fight off the infection.
From a tactical standpoint. Was it not mentioned that all the GM link together when fully grown? That passes knowledge for all of them to the new one? Sounds like an area that is exploitable. We could build a containment better then the rings to feed the Grave mind. Learn the locations to the other GM, seek them out and destroy them. And if that containment becomes compromised, slip space it next to a black hole.
This is all IMO it's just a thought.
I think the Didact hyper aged the last Precursor, the Primordial, which killed it. So, there are no more Precursors. Just the Flood
“When the species are at the apex of power, intelligence and-“
*knowledge guy appears*
“KNOWLEDGE”
What if the flood IS how the precursors get reanimated. Enough biomass and they return with ultimate intelligence
Maybe the flood are a part of the precursor evolution. Maybe they knew that turning themselves into the dust would eventually create the flood which will eventually evolve into precursors again.
If something more ancient and evil doesn't come in dethrone the flood as the supreme evil of the galaxy in halo 7-9 I will cry. THAT IS THE TRUE TEST.
Happy halo 2's 14th anniversary!
i posted this on another halo video before but it was on my phone and i dont think i got my point off clearly enough.
i was playing halo 4 today when on shutdown the didact said "the mantle of responsibility shelters all but only the forerunners are its masters" this is extremely similar to what cortana said at the end of halo 5. i haven't seen anyone talk about this so i thought it was a point to bring up and hopefully someone can come up with an explanation. if you want to find it yourself then i heard it when i went to the left objective thing at the start of the mission when in the pelican.
another interesting thing about this was that cortana said she couldnt hear it but she could hear all of his other dialogue this is sorta left hanging at the end but i guess it could have ties to halo 6 hope someone can come up with a theory.
maybe i just wanted to bring it up because it isnt something i have seen talked about. the fact that it is literally the same sentence makes me think its more than just a coincidence so i wondered if someone who knew more about the lore could come to an educated conclusion about what it could mean
yea personally i would prefer the logic plague but if they dont go that route then id like something with the didact since he hasn't been in these games as much as i would have liked him to be.
I feel like it needs to be explained how the "Dust" was corrupted before we can really consider it being just a stasis mechanism of the precursors. What could corrupt it?
Me personally, I feel like the precursors knew exactly what it would do when those humans who found it began testing with it. I almost feel like the Precursors used that dust as their reset mechanism in the infinite loop theory, but in this iteration due to the actions of the Forerunner the Precursors never got the chance to deploy the flood to reboot the galaxy. I don't think the flood are new, I think they precursors did make them, via a forced mutation... unless there is a lore source that specifically details that the creation of the flood was a complete accident I feel the precursors knew exactly what the flood was and did.
You could lay this out perfectly for 343 and they'll still find a way to fuck it up
The precursors test was an SAT
Master chief will eventually meet with mendicat bias I wander if that will be in the final test saga or before it . Foruner ai working against each other .
Knowledge.
Meme
I share your love for the flood, and would fight them over prometheans every day.
Man this guy has a flood fettish.
What if one precursor stayed in proper form when the left the universe and purpusely corrupted the dust for a payback and one last push. He then corrupted himself creating the first gravemind. So technically the precursors still own the mantle because they are alive in a different form and they have to be completely wiped out in order to have the mantle handed down. It's not a test but more so a vengeance on the whole universe
I think most Precursors are alive, just not (most of) the ones that seeded the Milky Way. There were probably many other galaxies being seeded and tested at the same time if you think about it. Why wouldn’t there be?
What happened to the Dead Arbiters body’s after the flood took over high charity?
I feel like it just wouldn't make sense for there to only be a few precursors left. Think about it, if you're a hyper-advanced species capable of seeding life in a galaxy with relative ease, why would you not do such in multiple galaxies? This would almost certainly leave many other Precursors in other galaxies ready and able to return to the Milky Way to give humanity their test for the mantle.
What was the background music at the beginning of the video
Imagine this xperia is infected by the flood what are we all gonna do
I wonder whether the flood could become dust and revert back to precursors to re-seed should a final test be failed and the flood remove life from the galaxy
i love the flood is my favorite antagonist but i think that every time they make a flood game they make them weaker every time you should make a video comparing their strength like halo ce flood vs halo 2 flood vs halo 3 flood vs hw2 flood or something like that
I wonder if humans in the halo universe during halo 5 know about the precursors
The Flood are the besties because they have the biggest stompaz. Srs it's because their developed and tend not to die off after the first mission in a game.
Preacher of Flood related topics more likely
Flood = Reapers from Mass Effect
Love your vids, but the gameplay is so dark, I can't even see the upscaled graphics.
Wait so...The precursor's basically AVP'd this, Like a game? Create Aliens as an enemy to destroy for the sole purpose of testing other's superiority...if You Lose, well yea you lose everything (reset). If you win, cool beans bro...your now a lonesome race of omnipotent beings...hooray~
Thought Halo 4 has a precursor in it...she is hiding as data like what Cortana is made of
Interesting. The founders attempted to digitalize themselves with the composer and ended up corrupting themselves. The same thing basically happened to the precursors.
Becursers arent dead they have just left this galaxy for minute. yea fucking minute tens of thousands is a minute to me
The 2 things I realised:
Master Chief = Modern Didact
Cortana = Modern Mendicant Bias.
Am I being crazy here when I see the similarities? Imo Chief is gonna take over the Didact's role and lead the remaining Forerunners against the Flood once he dealt with Cortana. (Similar to how the Didact dealt with Mendicant Bias then fought the Flood)
Bublito HeizCrew He won't do shit, we are many, he is only one. One being, surrounded by many of us.
So the flood are a necessary evil. Kinda like a math teacher...
i have a theory on the flood what if the dust did not corrupt, what if the flood is the prior form of the for precursors and when the flood consume the universe they will evolve into the precursors as they will be omnipotent in intelligence.
everyone join HiddenXperia's church of the flood!!!
Cool.
it´s friday my dudes
2:00
So... the precursors turned themselves into cocaine, and then someone pissed in the cocaine?
Perhaps you should rename your channel to "HiddenXperia - The home of Halo Flood lore videos!"
Also, didn't you have plans to show off the Maw in SPV3? The complete darkness has been a very divided feature.
They're there to make sure we never leave the galaxy?
1:59 look me in the eye and tell me that isn't cocaine
Oh fuck this scary
I have a question.... Why did ancient humans not protect the precursors against the forerunner genocide ?
What if the primordial reseeds the galaxy?
