Hey guys, today we're taking a look at the life-cycle of a Flood outbreak - the stages of evolution it passes through from the first Flood spore being spawned, to the entire galaxy being infected.
All in all, a fun time!
Next time, we're gonna be taking a look at the possibility of a Flood cure, and whether one has ever existed!

When you put it in perspective, at some point the graveminds vast intelligence would allow it to simply look at a calculus problem and solve it instantly. A flood outbreak would be my worst nightmare and all, but i gotta respect intellect when i see it lol
The Flood is probably one of the best well developed game antagonist ever! The storyline and changes in behavior during the games is soo genius!

The reason Gravemind talks so much about the flood being "salvation" is because they want to start over building the galaxy by destroying all species. Though as they got more corrupted in their "dust" form, they've become incapable of doing it via "space magic", so they're probably just trying to get to the "Transgalactic stage" to basically become Precursors again and create new species that won't betray them like the Forerunners did, and have absolute control of the Galaxy, as they once did.

I wonder if the plan all along was to create species and let them grow, gain knowledge and unique perspectives, then eventually assimilate them into the Precursors. Like, the Mantle of Responsibility is just another name for being assimilated into the greater Precursor collective, and because the Forerunner's betrayed them, they are now doing it via their flood plans.

Oliver Henderson it was a story in Halo-Evolutions, a series of short stories. There’s a semi-animated comic on CZcams. It’s kind of cool.
Couldn't the Flood also farm life during/before the intergalactic stage? They'd probably just use grunts though.
Arc 48 they probably would farm the grunts but this would only happen if they were able to. If they had to they would just kill them

Thought bombs are a thing, sure it takes a bunch of highly experienced force users but it was basically a localized halo ring. Thus a small scale flood invasion could be easily sterilized by the star wars universe. And that's before accounting for death star level weaponry, aimed at destroying flood infected worlds. Of course this is all predicated on the star wars universe understanding the threat of the flood.

The Flood is fascinating. Them and the Necromorphs are the scariest space monsters. Kudos to 343/Bungie for such a terrifying creation.

The flood is so terrifying an enemy to face that we can only hope the flood or something like it does not exist in real life
I wouldn't call them zombies, more like hyper-intelligent hive-minded parasitic asses, in other words, awesome. I share a love for finding out about the flood and things relating to the flood in general.

Well, could we technically say there isn't an uncoordinated stage now?
With the inclusion of the Abomination forms before the coordinated stage, there is never really a point where the flood aren't coordinated in some way.

I love this flood series, you should do more like it.
I guess stage 3 and 4 flood warrents the use of planetary destructive super weapons at this point. If not there's a multitude of ways to kill off the flood such as using Fire, Chemicals (like chlorine and mustered gas), and high intense radiation. Hmm...I wonder if after this series, your willing to do a follow up video or two on methods to defeating the flood? Would be interesting to see all the strategies and stuff that could be used, especially involving stage 3. :3

Yeah, pretty much. Everything can be infected, but things like drones, grunts, jackals, etc. don't have the biomass to be mutated into anything really worthwhile (they can be combat forms though, as seen in halo wars, but they really suck), so they're just used for carrier forms or turned directly into biomass. Hunters are a completely different story. Individual worms CAN be infected, but only one at a time, and upon infection lose the ability to combine into different forms; as such there's really no point in infecting them, only turning them into biomass. In short, anything that has a central nervous system (including Lekgolo worms, on an individual level) can be infected, but things that don't, like trees, can't.
Stage 1 : Human technology (shotgun)
Stage 2 : Covenant technology (glassing)
Stage 3 : Forerunner technology (Halo array)
Stage 4 : Precursor technology? (???)

What if there was a way to create a combat form, but keep their humanity alive, kind of like Jenkins except less agonisingly painful and less horrific looking
Hypothetically there's also a stage 0: controlled, being any flood cluster used for experimentation that is contained, these groups, without cycled sterilization, will inevitably break free, and for a stage 1, as we see in Halo 1.

Without master chief and the arbiter the flood would be common to see because master chief and arbiter took out like 80 or 90% of the flood without them the UNSC wouldn’t survive if the flood attacked them cuz there would be so many. They might even find earth, so basically master chief and arbiter are needed to keep humanity alive.

Organism eventually converts into pure biomass,
Produces spores and infection form pods,
Continues.

I think no matter what you do you can't stop the flood. All you can do is try to slow it down... So the flood will at one point take control of everything.

The Flood would not need to spread to a different galaxy, because the whole point of the outbreak is a test for the mantle of responsibility for a species that lives in one galaxy, so if that galaxy is infected then the test has been failed and what happens later is undefined, the closest information to this is in the Halo book Primordium, closer to the end where the Primordial describes "The carpet of space and time is rolled up and life is crushed in the folds. Until then, sweetness." By sweetness he means misery and suffering.

If you read the Forerunner trilogy they explain that the flood was make from the Precourcers out of anger and were intergalactic already but they were still stopped
