August garden tour with more growth, colour and flowers! Yes I know it's another tour but things are flowering now that weren't last month and we've had a lot more growth!

It’s looking great as always Kris, packed full of colour. The Persicaria definitely makes a perfect exotic ‘ground cover’ for under your palms, it works well.

Very inspiring. Sadly some of my plans went wrong due to poor growth in compost I bought this year. , however as you say the season is different with flowers adding to the beauty. .
Yes I had issues with poor compost this year as well. As soon as plants went into the ground they really improved.
I wish we had a tour everyday! I managed to get a variegated banana plant green with bits of red on the leaves not sure of its name. I got it at plant World, Devon last week. Love your garden 😍

The hot weather can be tough on plants, but overall they tend to benefit from it. The extra warmth speeds up the growing process, so plants tend to produce more fruit and vegetables during a heatwave. Of course, they need extra water to survive the heat, but overall they tend to do better in hot weather.
As Christians, we should be thankful for the hot weather, even though it can be tough to deal with. The heatwave is a reminder that God is in control of the weather and that we should trust Him, even when things are tough. The Bible says, "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18). So let's thank God for the hot weather, even though it can be challenging!
As always Kris your garden looks beautiful. I am curious in regards to the unusually hot weather conditions that we have now and again, overall do your plants suffer or benefit from the high temperatures.
I deal with hot weather too in South Florida, it burned away all of my tomato plants because I didn't provide shade protection. You live and ya learn...
Have you tried Colocasia gaoligongensis? I hear conflicting reports as to whether it or 'Pink China' is the hardiest, but I guess we also have consider which grows best in cool summers

Hi Kris, fellow Yorkshire dweller here. Just wondering if you've ever tried to grow Echium pininana? Just got back from holidaying in Cornwall and couldn't resist bringing one back to try. Supposedly hardy to -5c, I'll be keeping mine sheltered and watching the forecast closely!
I've grown it a few times but always when we've had a cold winter so never had one flower. I'm be trying again though

@@Pilltechre I've grown them in Ireland for years and find them to be an excellent 'indicator' plant to suss out microclimates in the garden. In a sheltered spot, preferably backed by a south facing wall or hedge, they sail through even harsh winters but in an exposed spot they always die. Once you have one flower and go to seed, you'll have seedlings growing everywhere for years
