I really like Silat, not only is he a brave warrior that forges his own path but he is a fun character overall. Also he is the only antagonist who fought Casca and didn't try to rape her.
Yeah him and his boys are dope, really hope to see him get some nice action and not just be on the sidelines, he looks awesome and seems pretty chill, hope he doesn’t get done dirty
To be fair, Femto didn't "try" either
He seems like a good man despite him being an antagonist at first. I really liked him since his first showing.
He's a man of honor. He admit defeat.
@@lysander3262 that killed me, bruh
Silat shows individualism in Berserk,
His existence proves that there are people with independent thinking who are not swayed by The Godhands
Exceptions do exist. Just recognize they're not the majority.
Moment of silence for our based lord Ganishka.
If it wasn't for plot armour he had Griffith and the God Hand whipped
@@ma1ist that is very true i honestly wouldnt have minded him taking out the god hand and then becoming the true main villian
Yeah thank goodness there's some people that have a fucking clue!
Ganishika was amongst the strongest of the apostles, not physically but magically, of course litterally any of the godhand had him beat there, but if he'd tried to use his lighting on Griffith from the start he might've gotten him
Now he's rickert's homie, can't wait to see what wacky adventures they have next

When the synthwave kicks in...
When Silat and his gang saved Rickert he instantly destroyed my list of favorite Berserk characters.
One of the better “redeemed villain” characters. He never really did anything bad but he was initially presented as an antagonist. However everything he does afterwards makes it increasingly clear that his morales are very straightforward and righteous. Can’t wait to see where the character ends up.
In fact, we can consider him a villain, but he never really even was one... First he hunted what was considered criminals after being honorable in a tournament, and later on he merely served under the emperor of his people... To the moment when we see him being abhorred by the daka machine, we dont really have any way of labeling him but as a noble man and a skilled warrior, to a point, after that, you can kind of see that he is a protagonist, as he has no intention of even considering to provide his services to anyone but to protect his people and lead them to their own appointed end... Now that he i wont say befriended rickert, but made acquaintances, he and daiba can both be considered protagonists to a degree... Daiba too was never really an antagonist, he too has his own dream, a lot like bakiraka, and he too only served his emperor...
@@camillosteuss Basically Silat and Daiba were just two normal guys in bad positions.
Silat is easily one of the coolest side characters in Berserk. I can’t wait to see Rickert and him again.
He looks like Zabuza and Stain.

Silat is underrated
"Silat" is also the name of a southeast asia's primary martial art, especially in Indonesia, Malaysia, some parts of Philippines and minority of Thailand.
@Bhargab gogoi Nobody say the character is.
Silat is the Vegeta to Guts' Goku. Main rival, always looking to use and improve his strength to eventually win his rematch. But finds himself constantly overpowered and forced to retreat by the main villains. His homeland and race were even destroyed by Friez... I mean Griffith.
KUSHAN PRIDE!
2 years old comment, but wouldn't Silat be more like *Piccolo?* They even have similar dress.

I'm now fully realizing just how powerful Silat's gang has become, Silat is an incredibly strong warrior comparable to Guts in combat skill, he's followed by four exceptionally strong members of the bakiraka, and now he has Rickert, who can make all sorts of advanced weaponry for him and the rest of the group, and to top it all off, Daiba is one of the, if not the most powerful sorcerers we've seen so far, and he commands a flock of giant dimorphodon monsters. If he meets up with Guts and his group to kick ass together it's gonna be nuts
They have collaborated!
I liked how his eyes used to go all white when he was fighting, like he was entering his own "assassin mode" similar to Guts' "berserk mode" (in which Guts' eyes would also go completely white). Unfortunately as Silat became more of a hero/anti-hero his eyes stopped doing that. It would be cool if he could still tap into his dark assassin training to white out his eyes even if he was more humble and level-headed outside of battle.
See-lat
Its a Malay martial Art.
Has its roots reaching all the back into Traditional hindu and Javanese Self Defense. So its kinda legit as the source of inspiration for Miura
@@aliidris657 that's penkak silat right?
Indonesia bro, not Malay
@Tb. Aris Suchranudin asalnya dari indo, yang bikin populer indo, yang dapet kredit malay???
the weapons and martial arts he uses is from kerala (south india) the martial arts is kalarippayattu
What I like about Silat is that he really feels DIFFERENT compared to all other character in Berserk (good and evil ones). He feels so human even tho he has superhuman powers. I feel relieved whenever he shows up, more than when Guts does. There is something special about him.
Guts feels like a naturally gifted human being to the point that it might as well be super powers. Guts comes off as a fighting prodigy that has innate speed, power, stamina etc. all brought out by discipline.
Silat feels like a human that had to train smart and really think on his feet plus think in an unorthodox manner to compete with powerhouses like Guts. You can put yourself in his shoes imagining yourself training to be so fleet of foot and accurate you can fight on par with monsters like Guts but it's so much harder to relate to Guts because he's just so superhumanly gifted.
Everyone else is looking forward to seeing Silat again but I just wanna see Guts' face after Rickert tells him he slapped Griffith 😂
I can't wait to see Rickert's reaction to Guts' JRPG party, the Berserker Armor, the travel to Elfhelm, the healing of Casca's mind alongside her kidnapping and the destruction of the island and I want to see Guts' reaction about Rickert's adventures in Falconia, his new partnership + training with the Bakiraka and the godly slap!
Berserks very small tournament arc with silat was a cool change of scenery for a bit. Nice video man and have a good day.
Kinda like a Slice of Life chapter.
Hard to believe Berserk has gone 40 volumes without a Tournament Arc. Maybe Griffith will host a "Falconia Tournament." 😁
I remember reading that chapter for the first time and thinking to myself "ahh Guts... this is... the happiest, most care free, fulfilled and satisfied time of your life, isn't it?"
@@edwardgaines6561 I will have an heart attack if Theresia and/or Jerome are reintroduced this way on the next arc participating on a event like this!
@@PedroLucas-mg5je I'll go one step further. Theresia shows up to the tournament as the new female leader of the *Holy Iron Chain Knights,* seeking revenge on Guts!
Silat is a survivor, along with his guards. They have lived to see basically everything the story has thrown at them. They have the skills. They just need the resources to hold their own.
I'm getting comparisons between him and Vegeta. Both hold on to Honor and Heritage. Both seem to get pushed to the back.
Vegeta? Silat isn't hellbent on surpassing Guts like Vegeta is with Goku. Silat is more along the lines of Piccolo.
@@edwardgaines6561 he may be refering to the new current vegeta who only cares about his own growth and has accepted that goku is stronger
@@joberiousfan8981 Damn, so even Vegeta got sissified too?
@@edwardgaines6561 hmm i wouldnt necessarily say sissified but after he realized he couldnt get mui he went beyond his power in his own way which does show personal growth and he finally curb stomped an opponent after the power boost and even showed some genuine character growth so he still strives to be strong its just not in the same line of trying to be a bitchy rival for the main character which is kinda scary cause thats what they did with piccolo and now we hardly see his character used at all anymore
@@edwardgaines6561 Vegeta did always know Goku was stronger no? My dbz and gt lore is rusty, but it always seemed like he used Goku as a rival, because he wanted to make himself stronger. Like, he acted high and mighty, but he saw Goku as the one adversary that will always give him something to aspire to.
I didn't originally give Silat the respect e deserves, but later thinking about it I asked myself how many humans got into a fight to the death with Guts and managed to survive? Not many, but Silat did. For that he deserves some respect.
One of my favorite minor characters, I hope we get to see more of him in future chapters!

I am Indian and I have seen Urumi in real life. its insane guys

Awesome vid. Silat was always a cool character to me. Like you said, he made the world a bit bigger when he was first introduced. He’s often in a weird state for me. Neither a main character, but never feeling like a side character. And of course the Tapasa. Crushing armor with barehanded strikes. So badass. Definitely want to see more form them
Rickert needs to make Silat one of those chain-swords. And by chain swords I mean the type of sword (don't know where I saw that) where multiple smaller blades are connected by an underlying chain, but the smaller blades can be joined together in a rigid manner to form a sword, or keep the blades loose and use it as an upgraded whip
I swear I thought Silat was gonna die. Was surprised at how dope he was
Silat versus Serpico is a fight I would love to see in Berserk.
Silat seems like the kinda guy that flips the bird at the Godhand when they offer him power.
I can’t wait to see Silat again, like you said he is really unique, and I like him a lot
It's amazing that with so little character development Miura-sensei managed to give him enough so we could see his growth throughout the years.
I hope Miura-sensei explores and expands upon his character and his clan in the future of the series.
Me too, need more of The eastern part of The Berserk world.
Lol you try so hard to be a weeb yet mess up the culture so bad. Sensei is not the word you want to imply respect, hes not a teacher or martial artist. You want "san" at the end of his name otherwise you just look stupid asf. A base level understanding of japanese culture outside of anime is literally all it would take to know this. Do better weeb trash. Dunno why but as a practicing martial artist who has had a sensei from japan that bothered the shit out of me. That's like calling a random chinese guy sifu (same connotations as sensei). Or just addressing random people as renown deserving teachers who aren't.
@@BigBeerus "Sensei" can be used on someone who teaches you an art. I'm an artist so I learn a lot from him as well as other mangaka. If you want proof, even in the Inoue Takehiko documentary, his assistants call him "sensei."
Instead insulting people over trivial things you should educate yoursef. But I guess you're too imature for that.
@@ANDREVILAFRANCA he actually teaches them. He is their literal teacher it makes sense for them too. Not you.

I like characters that can think for themselves it gives us different perspectives in a story.
Silat is the sonic of Berserk. He performs abnormal feats just to be one punched by Saitama or Guts.
I love the Kushan empire. I like Silat and the Tapasa as well. Would like to see more of them!
The big moral dilemma that I’ve been pondering as the chapters move along is the morality of killing or stopping Griffith now. Obviously he needs to answer for his crimes, but without Griffith and Falconia the people of Midland and all the other nations are going to be vulnerable to the monsters released into the world after the world tree incident. Griffith may be the cause of these atrocities, but he’s also the only one who can bring stability and order to the new world he created. It wouldn’t be right to kill him and rob the people of Falconia a chance at peace and prosperity they never had before Griffith ruled them. But that’s the moral dilemma, Griffith is both the cause of their woes and suffering and also the one who protects them from said woes. It’s a tough decision.
I like this character, he's like an Assassin from Ragnarok plus the Urumi and Chakrams :) Also i like how Silat feature weapons from the Sihk warriors
It looks like the CZcams algorithm is bringing your videos to the spotlight. Congratulations on making it big!
The young master is dope 🔥
Agreed.
Rickert is just Judaeu’s little brother. Both are absolutely amazing at their craft
Would not be surprised if silat was related to Casca.
I hated Silat back when first reading his introduction, because I found him anoying and didnt saw a threat in him. I never thought at the time that he would return and get characters development. So yeah, I expected nothing and instead got everything
My favorite Silat moment was when he encountered one of Griffith's Kushan followers, who joined Griffith because he felt something "inscrutable" was guiding him to do so.
Silat: "Is it right to yield oneself to something inscrutable?"
He's a cool alternative to the typical ninja design.
So sad we'll never get to see how his character turns out.
I remember when i first read Berserk during GA that i thought Silat is gonna be a run of the mill antagonist like the rest of the knights, but he slowly became one of my favorite characters in the series
Silat sounds a lot like Zillat which is a word from urdu, an indian/subcontinental language(like the origins of the bakiraka), which basically means Pain.
Cool
its also a reference to the south east asian martial art called silat
@@random_shit_online6104 yeah
A collaboration of Daiba's magic and Rickert's weapon making would be interesting to see. Just like weapons made by Dwarves(such as Hanarr), if Rickert learns the art of crafting mechanical weapons that could also damage ethereal beings effectively (ie apostles and other monsters), it would greatly enhance the fighting ability of Silat and in the future help Gut's party.
any human who can stand up against apostles has my respect
it would be so cool if silat joined the black swordsman party or some Kushan joining the party. silat is a very cool charecter and a lot like guts, they would get along well for sure
I like how he got the Coveit19 mask on😁
Was hoping Ryan would mention silats best quote. I can't remember it verbatim but it went something like, "is it right to submit oneself to another, simply because they're infallible."
I love the Indian-inspired characters in Berserk especially the Sanskrit names and Indian traditional weapons they have!
The knives Silat uses are called Katars. He also uses Chakrams and Urumi (the flexible swords).
The tapasa, Silat's guards are inspired from the word tapasya. Tapasya means austerity for god. When god gets satisfied from your austerity, you can ask for boon from god. Those guards are explained as boon from god in Berserk.
Most underrated character
I like this character, also his big buff homies just chillin
For real the buffed homies are the most wholesome character in berserk no cap
I call him ‘SY-lat’, rhymes with ‘pilot’ ✈️
Also when u mentioned how old Guts is, i always ponder if we could go old school in our story telling and have Guts and Griffith meet when Guts is way older or even as an old man. With Guts commenting that he finally meets Griffith again after all these years.
Think of it like the Odyssey, it spanned 10 years while it was supposed to be a simple journey for Ulysses to get home to his wife and when they do get together, Ulysses's wife can't recognize him.
Any thoughts about it?
Take the crazy weapons and tecnics from Silat and the enginery from Ricket and you get something fun, but they already lost against an apostol... But now they are with Daiba, and he coul enchant those crazy weapons like those given to the Guts group by Flora and Shierke... Thats the way this group will gain the power to defeat astral beings and demons
He's like Voldo....just not as weird with the latter's mannerisms or personality but in movement in combat and weapon choice
silat is awesome, one of the better charcters
Ah yes Black lagoon pfp, man of culture
Silat design is pretty cool. His weapons are called katar.
Im really looking forward to their destination
Silat name from the name of Martial art of Southern East Asian Malaysia and Indonesia
Damn I really need to see a tournament arc in Berserk
They would try to blame him for 9/11 if berserk was more popular
In b4 Guts and crew mine the hills where the dragon slayer was made, makes armor and weapons the crew, including for silat
it's cool to note that under different circumstances with Silat's pride and his lost against people with nationality whom he sees inferior to his own would probably take up the offer, become the typical "I was once a weak villain but now I become powerful to win against Guts who made me a laughing stock" like man I really like his character and I kindda hope he would maybe join up with Guts and his group to defeat Griffith or have his own so his team doesnt usually consist of just muscled dudes
He Will team up with Guts Group eventually
One of my favorite characters from Berserk
Hoping to see more of Silat in 2021
Me too
oh well
It's over.
Can't wait til Rickert and Silat make some crazy weapons together

Thank you
The man who remains true to himself is not to be taken lightly. Guts is one such. Silat is another. The Apostles, the GodHand, they compromised, and became twisted monsters. There is a lesson there.
I agree Silat is an underrated fighter. I think he could handle most of Hawks in a 1 vs 1 other than Griffith, Casca, and of course Guts. I put Casca lightly because she can fight but is driven more by a will to fight like a man. When Guts left the Hawks we all seen how easly Guts crushed Griffith at this point in order to leave the group. Some people think Griffith lost skill by chasing his dream and having Guts do all his dirty work or Guts just surpassed him at the time he decided to leave the Hawks. I think at that point in the series Guts was more skilled than Griffith due to fighting more and carrying the Hawks into insane combat situations. I'd like to have seen how Silat would of stacked up against the Griffith that lost to Guts. Guts seems to view Silat as more of a inconvenience than a dangerous foe.
Actually Silat is a much more powerfull and dangerous warrior.....he did beat casca in one on one fight all the while not giving his full, the reason guts considers Silat as a nuisance because just like guts Silat is an honourable warrior who does not like to play dirty
@@Abhishekkumar-ot7vz I agree Guts views Silat in some ways as him. But Guts knows Silat is inferior to him. That still doesn't make Silat weak. He's very powerful.

What if “becchi” the behelit that Guts have will finally reopen because it’s Silat with the time skips?
I dunno if Tezuka Productions will collab with Kentaro Miura's characters yet...
But Silat may be the one swift assassin who could possibly beat the humanoid puma Bagi thinking her to be an Apostle.
thank silat for this video
I always said "si-latt".
I thought Silat would be a more integral character instead of what he turned out to be. But alas he is still so cool
You think there will be a time skip soon, huh? I feel kind of the same, but for me, the question is for who and will it be linear. Time flows differently in Elfheim!
This was a Silat to take in.

Guts-berserker: ee sup bohs
Bakiraka science is the best in the world!
* Propaganda Starts Playing*
Funny how Silat thinks him and tapasa could beat guts, there wouldn’t be some casualties they’d all lose, black swordsman guts is quite stronger than golden age guts which he fought
I like to believe that if Silat ever became an Apostle he would just transform into Voldo from Soul Caliber

Now he is going to war against griffith.
You should read Sun Ken Rock!

Praying silat and his bakiraka join guts’ group, or at least stays with rickert until they find guts

you're right btw. he's not racist, the era is sometime around the 13th-15th century. The concept of race as we think of it didn't even exist yet. That's a whole story that involves spanish casta system and a lot of dark history.
