I'm 63 years old and I can remember exactly where I was when I first heard this song.

I'm 43 and so can I, sitting as a child next to my grandfather as he sat by the fire in the lounge smoking a park drive cigarette looking out the window, I asked him about where my grandmother was and he just hugged me.
As I got older I realized what had happened and it haunts me every time I hear this.

I asked man in music store if I could listen to some tracks of dark side of the moon (they used to have a booth with headphones for customers).......it blew me away and all my hairs stood up on end.

was only an innocuous track that was supposed to fill the void ending the side A.

Interesting to hear you talk about the different things this made you feel. This song is intended to take you through the stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. Watching your reaction, I would say you felt some of those. Now that you have heard from others that you don't need to pause so much, I would love to see you do more Floyd in the future. ive heard the band called her into the studio. she asked for lyrics, they had none. they began to play what they had musically, she decided she should just ad lib but without words, just feeeeeeling. one, or maybe two takes, onto vinyl it went. wow
I understand pausing for copyright and all of that....but the only way to "feel" a Floyd song is to listen to it from beginning to end with no interruptions. So, I hope you have a comfortable chair so you can kick back and listen again with no interruptions. Then do the same for Comfortably Numb (Pulse Live), Time & On The Turning Away... I guarantee you, after that...you will be "Floyded". Wonderful reaction.

Anger, depression, and finally accepting the truth and on earth no more. As you hear her calmly quieting, and her present voice starts to echo with sound of the final piano chord. SILENCE....

Nice reaction, no need for the 5 second pause thing. May i suggest a couple of pauses where you comment on the song, that is usually enough with pink floyd. A lot of reactors let it play through. You never know with copyright but most floyd reactions are ok.

This is not typical of Pink Floyd. The singer was a session singer they payed to do this. Not a member of the band. However it is typical of Pink Floyd to do something this different. They were musical creative artists not just the standard rock n rollers. Although they could rock with the best of them too.
