Brutus is what gets me during JC’s execution. He’s trying his hardest to be the stoic, consummate professional but after the switch is flipped, he has to fight to keep it together. You can see it in his eyes. His heart and soul are breaking because he knows, like the others, that JC is innocent but they can’t stop it.

At that moment 33:19 when John Coffey says "they look like angels" he has a halo over his head.
Yeah, it's just light from the movie projector, but it's not filmed this way by accident.
That's meant symbolically that HE looks like an angel.

John Coffey = J.C = Jesus Christ. Same initials. Also he was sacrificied just like the Messiah. I felt bad for Paul, Mr. Jingles lived for around 60 years, that's like 20 times a mouse life expectancy. Imagine that in human years, jesus! Nice reaction =)

At the end of the film, Mister Jingles was 67. Wild mice typically live 12-18 months. I did a calculation -giving mice a generous 3-year lifespan - and determine that Paul could live over 2000 years. But even at the slowed rate his body is aging, he almost-certainly won't. More like 200 or so, I figure.

The audiobook is up on CZcams, for now. The channel is Dennis Patrick McDonald. He's put up some older books on tape, both abridged and unabridged but check it out soon. CZcams won't have them up long. Definitely listen to the forward that Stephen writes because the format, serial chapters published in a magazine, common 100 years ago, is unique for modern books. Great reaction! So many films to explore.

    1. YOU WILL CRY😭😭😭😭
    2. Dabbs Greer/old Paul was ill during production, so his part was done later. He also played Reverend Alden on "Little House on the Prairie".
    3. Hammersmith was not a good lawyer. (most likely a racial thing. It was 1935 South.)
    4. In the book King briefly covers why the Chief and Del are on death row.
    5. This movie was nominated for Best Supporting Actor (MCD)😇 and Best Cast but unfortunately neither won.😭😭
    6. Players in other King adaptations: Jeffery DeMunn: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist,
Storm of the Century and William Sadler: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist. David Morse: The Langoliers. Patricia Clarkson played Margarat White in King's remake of Carrie". Needless to say, it was a much different part.
    7. Movie magic Electricity makes the body contract. Del wouldn't be able to scream. I know it' just for the movie because of the length of the execution scene.
    8. IRL James Cromwell is a vegan and didn't want to grill meat for the BBQ scene but
was told that in 1935 people actually ate meat so he agreed to have some on the grill.
    9. RE Percy: Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. KARMA's a Bitch. BTW Kudos to Doug Hutchison for the great job of playing Percy. EVERYONE hates him.🤬
    10. John also rescues the other patients at Briar Ridge.👿
    11. IRL both David Morse and James Cromwell are about the same height as Michael Clark Duncan. They used planks, a small bed and smaller chair along with trick photography/angles to make John look taller.
12 The scene where John takes Mr. Jingles for safe keeping before Del's execution, they used a real mouse, and it pooped on Paul's shoulder, and he brushed it off.
    13. Now we know what the "day old is fine" dry toast is for.
14 EVERYBODY cries and has to take time to reflect. Congratulations you just experienced.
    the GREATEST MOVIE EVER. (GOAT)🤩

'Green Mile' was a full-length novel originally released serially in smaller installments, later collected into one full narrative. It makes for excellent reading, and the filmmakers adapted it wonderfully.

2:30 "Why is he saying dead man walking?"
Percy is an idiot. You'll see that all throughout the entire movie.
But this phrase was a real one said in US prisons for over a century now.
It's used on the last day when a convict is being taken to his execution.
"Dead Man" because he is about to be executed in a few minutes.
"Walking" because he is walking to his death.
Of course, John Coffey is not on his way, yet, to his execution.
Also, it's not usually shouted over and over by the guards but rather it's something the other convicts might whisper to each other: "Hey, there goes a dead man walking."
So chalk this one up to Percy being stupid.

Every time the E-Block phone rings, I start to check my own phone. In the book, Paul explains to the readers that Percy had gotten most of his impressions of police work from detective magazines, such as announcing 'Dead man walking!' when bringing a new prisoner onto the block.
Arlen Bitterbuck was killed by the first jolt; Paul explains to us in the book that the heart can continue spasming after electrocution. You also notice he didn't grunt during the second shock.
Based on how much John extended Mr Jingles' life, Paul could potentially live for over 2000 years. But considering the rate - even slowed - his body has aged since his connection with John's power, I reckon he'll more likely pass away by the time he reaches 200.
