Well someone on the Honest Trailers writing team didn't understand Loki's character arc.
The whole point is that Loki started out craving a throne he couldn't have, that, despite his beliefs and delusions of grandeur, he had no claim to, and ended with taking a throne he didn't want to save those he cared about. He learned what it truly means to be a god, not some mad power trip or dominion over everything but to be willing to sacrifice yourself and stand alone if it means protecting those that are important to you.
LoL essentially what I came here to say about that exact line.
I really liked the ending, it had me getting emotional when Marvel hasn't touched my heart in quite a while.

I really enjoyed this season and didn't find the plot confusing. It actually gave me hope that the MCU can get good again.
And let's be honest, Doctor Who is much more Wibbley Wobbley Timey Wimey than this show. When you have one character at the end of their life meeting someone at the beginning of theirs and they have a relationship? River Song and The Doctor starting with Tennent and ending with Capaldi.
I really enjoyed the groundhog day aspect of Loki too. It's always entertaining like in Edge of Tomorrow. Then to realize the futility of the repetition/effort; to knowing what must be done.
First time I've really found one of these just not that funny. Usually they have a few digs, but the jokes work because they understand the thing they're poking fun at. Didn't feel like it in this case. No it's not confusing, we've seen groundhog day and all the versions of it, we've watched Dr Who. It's not the complex. But then I did spend centuries studying temporal physics.
This show was actually good and I had fun watching it.

This is one of the few honest trailers I’ll walk away from confused. This season was glorious and the perfect ending for Loki.
The callback to Thor with him saying what kind of god he wanted to be. Thereby creating Yggdrasil, the world tree. He became what he always wanted, just not in the way he ever expected. I would be completely satisfied without a third season. You're right, it is the perfect ending for Loki.

it was great - proof that when you tell writers to write a friggin FINALE instead of always leaving a door (or 200 doors) open at the end, they're capable of doing it right.
They did not talk about the visual aspect of loki season 2 which is amazing, the framing, color and whole vibe of the series is great.. i didn’t expect this much hate from the honest trailer team tbh
Yes! I don't think the visuals of this show has been talked about a lot. The colors, the contrast between cool and warm tones, the composition, the sets if you can see how good and how consistent everything was all throughout the series, you will never be able to unsee it

Same. Really weird how much they're digging into it.
The visuals also improved it in another aspect - all those steadicam wide-angle long-take shots really gave the actors time to emote and sit in the role, instead of cutting away every few seconds. The heavy film grain they added really gave it an interesting feel too.

Honest Trailers morphed into Cinema Sins so gradually I almost didn’t notice.

Agree. I LOVED it. My husband rarely ever watches TV, but we watched both seasons of Loki together. We watched the last 5 episodes in a row and I cried so much at the end.

Disagree, this show feels like what Andor did to Star Wars. I had a hard time caring about anything happening. The best MCU properties and Star Wars BALANCE the fun and slow burn. Pure fun and pure slow burn SUCK.
Loki S2 was a breath of fresh air in the recent marvel phase. I feel y’all definitely underrated this one.

Personally, I quit watching after Ep 2. The show never attempted to hook me, oozing entitlement, like it deserved my love and attention just because it was MCU.
Then I switched over to One Piece, and if Loki is “a breath of fresh air” OP is pure oxygen at the top of an endless canopy of trees.

I liked this season, funnily enough I found this season the opposite of what this video is saying.
It wasn't boring, it wasn't confusing, it literally told you the plot in episode 1 and just worked towards ending it.
So the rest was just getting to know the characters and doing the mission required.
Yeah, I wouldn't worry about HT going down on it, they've had a thing about MCU stuff for a while now - most of the 'jokes' are just bad criticism that is clearly written by someone who hasn't actually watched the trailer subject...

I think the issue that honest trailers is working with here is that the science doesn't make sense, and that there are obvious plot holes. It's not a confusing show to watch, but trying to logically make sense of a few things is confusing because logically, it doesn't make sense, so you have to ignore it. I was surprised by how little positivity went into HT about this show because even if the science was convoluted, it was a really good show with great acting, amazing dialogue, and some great themes

I did not expect so much hate for some much needed richness in MCU character arcs, and this is a great, poignant wrap to Loki’s. In spite of its flaws, I loved Season 2.
Screen Junkies are all in on hating Marvel at this point
I dunno about Loki nailing the character arcs. I mean for the most part they did get Loki’s and to a slightly lesser extent Mobius’ but I don’t think most of the other characters did.

Loki S2 was one of the better things to come out of Marvel in recent times and finale gave a much satisfactory ending to one of the most interesting characters in MCU.

Im just tired of people who can't seem to remember that even when Disney wasn't pumping out constant content we still had Iron Man 3, the first two Thors and the Hulk. Loki was good some MCU stuff (ironically also Hulk) is bad and that won't change no matter how much or how little content they put out.

The lack of recognition how entertaining this was, and how wonderful it was to have Ke Huy Quan back... I mean, come on! Every time he said "Temporal Loom", I flashed back to Temple of Doom. Such a great character, such a fun actor.
He was literally the only cast member having a good time. Him and maybe Eugene (Casey) and Jonathan (Kang). Everyone else looked utterly miserable and gutted for the most part.
People used to say, Loki is carrying the MCU. Now he is doing it in a literal sense...

I agree. HT is piling on Marvel hate train with no nuance. Is almost everything they've produced these two three years, yes, but were there good gems here and there, also yes. Loki Szn 2 outdid my cynical movie analysing self, especially one that dislike the direction marvel is going.

Loki was honestly the BEST show on Disney+ that I also enjoyed. Absolutely a great ending, music, and a Tom Hiddleston who has earned at least a few nominations for next year's award season. So does Ke Huy Quan for his amazing deadpan deliveries.
This season gave Loki a perfectly tragic/heroic ending. He finally gets to be a true hero by making a sacrifice FAR greater than anything Thor has ever done in the MCU, and no one except for Sylvie and the TVA characters are likely to ever know about it, especially if Marvel does end up chickening out of their Kang Dynasty/Secret Wars plans like some rumors have been saying they might.

Did they not watch the show and see Mobius trying to reconcile his TVA job with the realization that there is a completely different life for him on the Sacred Timeline? Definitely not just “one personality trait “, he was quite a fascinating character
ikr? Mobius had a really emotional arc this season, finding out he's a widower with two kids hit hard for me. I loved Owen Wilson in all of Loki - can't wait to see him in Deadpool 3!

I think this is the first time that I have strongly diverged from Honest Trailers thoughts on a show/movie. Aside from this I have always found the commentary accurate and hilarious. I was surprised that they disliked this so much. I loved Loki Season 2. It also speaks to the strength of Honest Trailers that this is the first time I remember disagreeing with their opinions. Kudos! lol
Natalie Holt was the definite MVP of this season, my god what music she wrote!

No it wasn't. The people *talking* about it liked it. That doesn't mean that "most people" liked it. Some found it dull, plodding, repetitive, and a major step down from the first season.
I loved the metaphors that he did about Loki "projecting what's going on in the MCU..." but I also really liked this season, and especially that ending episode.

I didn't really care for the first four episodes of this season, but I felt like the last two episodes more than made up for it. Thought it was good stuff and a good arc for Loki.
Yeah this whole season is about the MCU. The TVA is the MCU when you watch it with that in mind the show is a bit weird
one of the first honest trailers i outright thought was bad because of how wrong it was. I mean, sometimes I get you gotta stretch to make the joke, and its always been fine, but this take on Loki 2 is like its written by an AI that has read a bunch of news articles about how the mcu is strugglgin and everyone has marvel fatigue.

Loki is the best thing Marvel has made post-Endgame. A show that understands it's character and doesn't just resort to a big battle in the finale but actual heartfelt moments.

The viewership numbers beg to differ.
I wasn't a Loki fan before this series - he was cool, but he wasn't my favorite character - but this series absolutely changed my mind. It's incredible to see where he came from to where he ended up, what he was willing to sacrifice and go through to protect the people and things he cared about. Even if you didn't know what was happening story wise, this is one of the most GORGEOUS MCU shows they've ever had - I was left stunned after every episode in season 2 and idk who the VFX artists were but I hope they get kudos (bc we know they're not getting a raise - thanks Marvel.) Loki the show was truly one of the best parts of phases 4 and 5 and an absolute perfect ending to one of the characters who's been here since the beginning. (Though I would not be surprised if marvel tried to bring him back somehow...)
But we have to *KNOW* what’s happening in the story. It’s the most *IMPORTANT* parts of a show! 😤 The writers left so many holes.

This season was one of the best pieces of content Marvel has ever put out
I mostly liked this season. It spent a bit too much time spinning its wheels, but it had some interesting ideas, most of the cast is still great, and it ended better than most MCU D+ seasons. I thought the part of the Honest Trailer about how this season is an extended metaphor for MCU phases 4 and 5 was great though, and the starring section was excellent.

I never really like Loki season 1 and thought it was the worst of the MCU at the time but season 2 was fantastic to me and it helped redeem my feelings for the entirety of it

You really underrated Loki S2. I thought the ending was beautiful, epic, mythic even. Hiddleston was amazing. The visual effects were better than we've seen from Marvel in a while. The music was gorgeous. KHQ was adorable throughout. You guys come off like too-cool (in your own opinion) gatekeepers on this one.
"MYTHIC"? In what part of the myths did Loki go on silly adventures with bunch of characters that never existed in the comics, let alone in Norse Myths? What about his wife Sigyn? Why does some guyed named Mobius is his soulmate instead of his actual wife from mythology? The show was awful.

This second season was a great piece of entertainment! The best thing Marvel did since End Game. Masterpiece in costume design, color scheme, storytelling, and likable characters. Loki finally had a closure that was epic, emotional and memorable. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

damn it Honest trailers, you're being a bit of a Grinch! I actually liked this season more than the first, where Loki was a side character for most of the season.
How was he a side character in S1? The whole thing was about him becoming a more emotionally strong person and showing it at the end, which continued in S2.
Only the first & last two episodes mattered in my opinion writers were just filling time with many side quests that lead nowhere but finale was worth it

I disagree, without the middle episodes the last two episodes would felt rushed. Loki's sacrifice would only made sense after trying every way they could though of. those were necessary for character development.

@@twistmygrinder4777 Sylvie wanting to experience a normal life does. Mobius wanting to enjoy a normal earthly meal does. obviously, the conversations should take place somewhere. McDonald's was just somewhere for the scenes to happen. Besides, those episodes had far more than just McDonald's. They tried to go other routes to save those timelines and in the end, Loki found out that there was no way they could keep the device and save all the timelines at the same time.
@@user-pn6qq1zr3x they could've done that in one another episode, but three felt like too much stretch just for Lil character motivation, although he was already very motivated to save timelines in firstw two episodes, it felt like writers added extra drama just to make standard mcu six episodes
I really liked this season, and I will never mot appreciate Owen Wilson being Owen Wilson doing Owen Wilson things. And that last episode was absolutely incredible and worth every supposed boring second. What a cathartic and sad ending we got to a character that a LOT of us have literally grown up with.
The only real let down was Sylvie was VASTLY under utilized this season

Loki 2 was one of the few new Marvel shows that was actually good. Rare miss by Honest Trailers. There’s honest criticism, then there’s cashing in on Disney hate.

I thought the same thing but it didn't occur to me that they were specifically jumping on the 'I hate everything after Edngame' theme that runs so strong in the fanbase these days. Well said

It was super confusing (I still don't know what the loom does!) but it was funny and the characters had good chemistry! I've never heard of the OB guy but I have to see what else he's in because he was hilarious!

Loki season 2 might not make a whole lot of sense plot wise, but it is immensely narratively satisfying. I especially loved watching Loki and Mobius interact, their relationship is beautiful. Loki season 2 is the first time Marvel has actually made me cry. That last scene with Mobius watching his life on the sacred timeline, feeling lost and without purpose, and Loki all alone on his throne, with the burden of the entire multiverse on his shoulders...may just be the most heartbreakingly beautiful thing ever
I hate this show overall but some of the emotional aspects were indeed touching.

I could be wrong but I feel like the writers of this episode not only jumped on the hate marvel train but also didn't actually watch Loki just skimmed it or read some negative articles on it. It is so much better than this video makes it out to be

This season was rough in places, and the worst part by far was the insane overacting from the He Who Remains variant. But despite that I think this was a beautiful and somber way to finish Loki's character arc! I feel like his finale couldn't have been more perfect for everything he went through and became. Loki was always complex, surprising, and at times very heartwarming. Not to mention that I feel like he was one of the only villains to have a different power set than the heroes. Like how hard is it to write a villain who isn't just the bad version of the hero? Sorry, that was a random soapbox. The point is that I disagree with Honest Trailer's idea that this was just a boring or lazy ending.

The Doctor had Amelia Pond bring him back from nonexistence by having her think of him with the phrase "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue." This was after the universe was destroyed and restarted. Loki season 2 is only slightly wibbley wobbley timey wimey.
Loki was an amazing series. I loved it.

I really liked this season, but i gotta admit I didn't think of the meta-commentary on the state of Marvel. "Never sleep", making movies on an alternate timeline, Loki pulling it together, etc. It's spot on, really.
If Loki wasn't the best Disney+ Marvel show before, it officially is now. Fingers crossed he and Thor reunite in whatever Secret Wars does with itself.
