    Thank you for this video. Moving in May to a nice house in Metairie and the neighborhood is really nice. Leaving Cleveland so I’m used to a larger city, New Orleans is like a big town to me which makes it pretty charming.

    Hello Stephanie, my name is Stephanie also. I have been considering moving to New Orleans, and have been watching alot of pro and con videos. Your video has provided me the most relaxed piece of mind and comfort. Thank you for that, I have been looking at some houses that I have fallen in love with making me want to get to New Orleans that much faster. Have a great evening, and thank you again. ❤

    You know it’s a realtor video when the only cons of Nawlins are “it can get too warm at times & potholes” 😂

    What, there are areas in NOLA that do not have potholes ???

  • @heynhamnham

    I have a question bout jobs and costs there, do you think there's a good amount of job opportunities for younger people or would it be more interesting to get more professional qualifications and then look for a job there? And, is the renting reasonable to the monthly wage? I suppose it might be a bit more expensive because it's a historical town with lots of tourism but is it affordable for young adults to start their lives alone?

    • @LivinginNewOrleansLouisiana
      @LivinginNewOrleansLouisiana  Před rokem +1

      There are a lot of variables there. Not knowing what type of career you are looking into, I would suggest first checking the job listings on InDeed or through a head hunter for the field you are looking to enter into. IMO, I think there are lots of opportunities in lots of areas. Rent wise, that depends on where you decide to rent. The more historical areas will be more expensive for sure, but there are many bordering areas with different price points on rent. A realtor would definitely be able to help you with some perspective in that area. They cost you nothing to use, and can provide you a wealth of information on the areas you are interested in.
      Me myself starting as an adult alone, I would suggest maybe a roommate to cut expenses so you have more free money to go out and experience all of the culture you will be immersed in moving to Louisiana.
      If you are coming from the East or West Coasts, I think you will find southern living much more affordable, though some wages may be lower than what you might find on the coasts. It all balances out though, IMO. I hope that helps!

      No. If you're young with no experience, expect to be working the low wage serving tables and bars. The only decent no experience jobs you can get is in Elmwood where the warehouses are. New Orleans is not known for a good job market. It's known for getting shitfaced drunk and partying for a weekend.

    It's easy to claim you like living in New Orleans, when you live on the "Posh" northshore.

    Okay but what's the deal with CRIME? My soul wants to live in New Orleans, but so many people are telling me to absolute not to because the crime is getting out of control.

    • @LivinginNewOrleansLouisiana
      @LivinginNewOrleansLouisiana  Před rokem

      It's so hard because I love New Orleans. I love the culture, I love the people, I love the nightlife - BUT the crime is out of control and I have to be upfront about that. There are plenty of areas nearby you can live which are a safe distance away, but still close enough to visit the city on a regular basis.

    • @LivinginNewOrleansLouisiana
      @LivinginNewOrleansLouisiana  Před 2 lety

      I would say it depends on the weather and time of year. It's way better than more congested cities like New York, but New Orleans is definitely not the country. And there is lots of humidity. Not sure if that helps.

    If you live in NOLA or the area, where do you travel and what method of travel do you take to get a break from here?

    • @LivinginNewOrleansLouisiana
      @LivinginNewOrleansLouisiana  Před 2 lety

      A few easy drives to the coast out of NOLA ranging from under 2 hours to 4 hours would be:
      Bay St Louis, MS (I have a video on this one)
      Ocean Springs, MS
      Gulf Shores, AL
      Perdido Key, AL
      Flora-Bama
      Destin, FL
      There are some cool natural springs you can visit in Florida that are within a days drive.
      Some even drive to Disney World in Orlando, stopping over night in Tallahassee.
      If you love fishing, Grand Isle, LA is a great place to visit.
      Lafayette, LA is known as the heart of cajun country in Louisiana where you can find lots of authentic cajun cuisine.
      Avery Island, the home of LA Hot Sauce.
      For outdoors, some popular LA spots are: Tunica Hills Waterfalls, Poverty Point Burial Mounds, Bogue Chitto State Park (past Folsom on the Northshore), Fairview-Riverside State Park (In Madisonville, Fontainebleau State Park (in Mandeville), ReUnion Lake RV Park (in Robert).
      Lots of people also like to visit Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area in TN. Thanksgiving and Christmas is a really great time to go for the lights. Rent a cabin in the Smokies, and wake up to cool crisp mornings. You can drive, about 11 hours - or fly! There are a lot of great places in Alabama and Georgia too for mountain getaways.
      Soooo many options. 😀

      447 miles to Dallas, TX

    Hello I would like to move there how much is a apartment out there

    • @LivinginNewOrleansLouisiana
      @LivinginNewOrleansLouisiana  Před 2 lety +2

      It's variable by area. In a lot of cases, if you can get approved for a mortgage it will cost less monthly than rent. Are you looking to rent an apartment, a home, a sublet?
      This website will give you an idea of apartment complex pricing: www.apartments.com/new-orleans-la/
      If you are thinking of renting a home, getting in touch with a Realtor to look through the MLS would be a great place to start.
      Sublets I would say to look for moving to New Orleans facebook groups or Craigslist. I also found this website on a quick search that may be helpful: www.roomster.com/?r=googleus&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-daUBhCIARIsALbkjSaToMk9lij6nIUyinod7BDbzKak3kHrbunp-OkmFxAi9Vuk4IwVFgUaAuNWEALw_wcB
      I'm not affiliated with any of the above websites, but if you would like assistance with finding a realtor in the area to search MLS rental listings (or for sale), let me know and I'll send you a contact.
      If you decide you would like to see if you can get pre-approved for a mortgage and potentially buy a house, let me know and I would be happy to provide a Free Consultation.
