Ollie was rescued in Greece and was adopted in the Netherlands. Yes, he was a tough one to let go, but there are millions of strays in Greece and...you get the idea. I used to call him by his Greek name, Fotis (Φώτης), and I consider that dog named Fotis to be mine in a way.

We will see far more of it with the demographic change in Europe. Having spent several years in the Gulf, I saw for myself how badly treated dogs and cats are.
I'm so happy that he is adopted and hopefully living a wonderful joyous life.

Yes! this lady has a beautiful soothing voice, when she could be so angry, she's not. She is eloquent in her story telling and has all the insight of an old soul. Wish we had more like her on this planet helping those that we domesticated and then the biggest betrayal of all by abandoning them.
Ollie is remarkable. One of a kind. Thank you for saving him. Thank you for giving him the chance to retain his innocence.

J DeCino, Valia also introduced me to a unique individual, Takis of Takis Shelter in Crete, he saves dogs, cats, hedgehogs, birds, rats,... he put all his money into buying land up a mountain near Ierapetra town and has now after many years of effort, sweat and tears built the best animal shelter in the world. Valid also introduced me to the great Ermioni of DAR animal rescue in Central Greece. These remarkable individuals are fighting a losing battle, but fighting they are and they will to the end.

While I know you and other rescuers can't pick up all the strays, it'd be hard for me to visit Greece for this reason. Heck, it was hard enough living in Los Angeles with all the strays and 1,000s of animals everyday in the many shelters. Sometimes all we can do is save one-at-a-time, so thanks for saying yes to this one-in-a-kind soul, Ollie.💕

Also, can I just say that generally I'm cynical about animal rescue channels? Too many manipulate every image for maximum clicks and donations.
Being real as you are is a risk. You haven't prechewed everything for maximum ease; you allow all things to be as complicated and messy as they are. I love that about this channel.
I've learned a lot from you and not least of all is opening oneself to the souls of animals. It means everything that you are there, fighting the good fight, for them.

Ollie is such an amazing dog, but he was just as beautiful when he was a stray it's heartbreaking why people can't se that. Their are so many amazing dogs who are homeless. Thank you Valia for your videos they get you too think and feel so much the heartbreak, happiness and anger.

What a beautiful soul, so happy he got his furever home, there is some justice in this world and, in this case, much of it thanks to your efforts Valia. I hope the other strays in that seaside town can be helped too, they all need a chance, it's heartbreaking to think of them trying to survive in the cold and the heat and mostly the indifference 😢

I have 2 rescues already, but I always think I do not do enough. I donate to several rescue services, one of them DAR animal rescue. But still....not enough! I would love to foster, to show a dog how having a steady home really is, with walks, play, relax time, food twice a day...not only young ones, but old dogs, too. They deserve it! that is my dream that hopefully one day comes true.

I live in an apartment community named Meadowbrook, and my neighbor has a big black fluffy chow named Lady. We call her the “Mayor Of Meadowbrook” because she is like this beautiful boy the people’s dog. She is just the sweetest girl ever and she makes every single person she meets feel like the most loved and important person in her world. I Lady, she is my best friend ☺️❤️

I live in the Netherlands (Alkmaar) and I think I met him at a dog park, my rather aggressive little dog was barking like crazy at him and he never reacted but came over to me and leaned against me as if to say don’t worry, I won’t do anything to your dog. His dad said not to worry, he won’t do anything. I asked him if his dog came from Spain and he told me he came from Greece. He is truly a very sweet and wonderful dog!
PS I really enjoy the way you tell the stories of the dogs you rescue, and how you describe their personalities, you should make a book (if you haven’t already done that).

I love dogs, I had my Miss Katie a Jack Russell Terrier for many years .. she passed away a year ago, and I still miss her .. I have not gotten another dog to replace her! My family has Ruby , their little dog, so I just enjoy having her to keep me company ….

Και δεν θα χρειαστεί να ποτέ να δει την άλλη πλευρά του ανθρώπου. Το σκληρό βλέμμα με τα ενωμένα φρύδια, τα χείλη που δεν χαμογελούν σε ένα αδέσποτο σκύλο που αυτός τους χαμόγελα με καλοσύνη και αγάπη. Γιατί δεν ξέρει ούτε μπορεί να φανταστεί ότι ο άνθρωπος που αγαπάει τόσο μπορεί να έχει και ένα άλλο πρόσωπο. Ευτυχώς που δεν θα το δει ποτε. Ευτυχώς που καμιά φορά ανάμεσα σε όλους αυτούς με τα ξυνισμενα μούτρα υπάρχουν και αυτοί με τα χαρούμενα μούτρα. Και ευτυχώς που αυτοί έχουν και μια αγκαλιά που πολλές φορές είναι ζεστή και μεγάλη.
