👋😃Scott and mitch met at 10 yrs old in community theater Kirstie and Mitch knew each other through community theater at about 8 or 9 yrs old. In high school Scott met Kirstie and they all continued musical theater and choir. Scott, Kirstie and Mitch were known as The Trio, (there are Trio videos here on youtube)
The Trio are from TX, Avi (Ah-vee) is from California, Kevin is from Kentucky and Matt is from Maryland.

Thank you for reacting to this early Pentatonix video. They are indeed bigger than they ever dreamed. The current bass is Matt and he got married 1-2-22. The new People magazine (available starting 1-14-22) has a lovely article about it and beautiful pictures from their wedding day. It's also online now.
You REALLY need to watch Come Along, which is a cover and also some of their original work like Love Again, Coffee in Bed and Can't Sleep Love. Everything they do is AMAZING! Come Along is absolute FUN!
Kevin does the beatboxing working with AVI to augment some sounds with bass sounds. Avi also does other sounds such as overtone singing. Scott can also beatbox and sing bass. Love your reactions and personality! Daft Punk is amazing. You might enjoy their cover of "Attention" and "Havana".

Yeah, Kevin is the only one beatboxing. Matt actually does a decent basic beatbox and gives Kevin some room in a few of their newer songs... you can catch him doing the beat while Kevin has solos in Havana and the Christmas song Joyful, Joyful (the arrangement from Sister Act II 😄).
Other songs PTX did that are more or less this same poppy fun to me are Problem (Ariana Grand/Iggy Azalea), Cheerleader (OMI), La La Latch (La La La and Latch mashup), Where Are U Now, Attention and Blinding Lights. I saw you liked the suggestion for Say Something... they also did Perfect (Ed Sheeran), which is in that vein. Not enough Mitch for either to be my favorites but your mileage will undoubtedly vary 😏 Daft Punk will be a trip and if you like that everyone will be suggesting their original Love Again which is the same kinda EDM vibe.
On the names - Avi is Ah-vee and Kirstin is i-r Kirstin not r-i Kristin. She always told people "Kirstie like thirsty". Otherwise, great job! Thanks for the fun reactions!

Police Academy was Michael Winslow and he was a special effects maestro, but never beatboxing....Kevin and Scott both do the beatboxing at times, and Scott is also able to sing everything from bass to tenor, but Avi is a basso profundo, the lowest of the bass vocal ranges. Obviously Mitch has an enormous range up to counter tenor, effortlessly. Have to admit I love all of them, but Mitch will always be my super favourite 💕
ahhh, actually a very big distinction! I just meant more like, the ability to recreate sounds that you wouldn't assume could come out of a human. I'd imagine Kevin could probably do some pretty crazy impressions of non-musical instruments too!
