@黃先伯 i agree, RX10M4 @600mm is about the same as P1000 @1000mm. I think the RX10M4 is close in capturing the same amount of details @600mm vs P1000 @2000mm, but lacks the amount of pixels to crop that far in.

@@henryforo3566 That is complete bullshit. I’m a working Pro and use FF for my daily work. I use 1“ cameras for all my travel stuff and also for work, after I saw how good the quality really is.
I tested the RX10IV some days ago and this camera has such a good lens, you wouldn’t belive it is even possible to build something like this. It’s sharp from wide to tele, it has a good micro contrast and a surprisingly good bokeh.
The ISO performance is far better than most people would think. At base ISO these files are better than mFT sensors and as we know have AI noisereduction in Lightroom, I don’t have to think about high ISOs. These 1“ sensors deliver. And if you think they’re not good, it’s probably YOU who is the bigger problem. But you’re talking DSLRs and cellphones, so you might live under a rock for the last 20 years.

It is great that you zoomed the Nikon P1000 up to 3000mm (125x), but you should also have zoomed the camera to its equivalent of the Sony so that we can see how both cameras perform at their equivalent zoom settings in terms of image quality and image stabilization. Take, for example, the Windmill blades, was it necessary to have only zoomed up to the tip or base of the blade with the Nikon? Why not back up the zoom a little bit so as to see how the Nikon compared with the Sony. The further out you go or the greater you zoom in on an object while hand holding the camera, the more movement you will get.

I have moved on from my previous 25x zoom camera, and the 65x zoom of the latest one often comes into it's own when birding. So yes, I am envious of the 125x zoom of the Nikon for my needs, as I am sometimes quite flat out on 65x to see the detail I need for a shot. I own both cameras. They both are great for what they are designed to do. The zoom range on the Nikon wins. But at this present time there is no camera anywhere that is as versatile and capable as the Sony RX10 IV. And there are only a handful of cameras that can match the lightning fast focus of the RX10 IV camera.
The Sony camera is amazing, and most people don’t even know that these two cameras are using a leaf shutter. With respect to speedlights, the leaf shutter destroys all interchangeable lens cameras that use focal plane shutters because the flash can be synced to any shutter speed the photographer needs without flash sync restrictions.

That lens has full manual zoom and works so fine. Although the camera is outdated in many aspects nowadays. But still a great camera to have always in your car orzo. The RX10IV is tempting for shooting sailing yachts competition when on a RIB. No need to chance lenses and shooting is during daylight most of the time.

The low light superiority of the Sony is huge better than the Nikon, but for over all super zoom to capture close up detailed far away images I believe the Nikon wins hands down!! If your going for all around average good camera that does everything well and need better image stabilization and super fast auto focus and clean night shots and clean day shots then it's hands down the Sony RX10 IV, the Nikon for it's price cheaper than Sony and being a bridge camera for now does the best job for getting clean shots of wildlife being well lighted that is!! Photographers getting good shots having a tripod is advisable P1000, it's auto focus struggles P1000, so have to have a tripod for better shots! The only other cameras for super close wildlife action shots far away super super clean are going to be DSLR's like a Nikon D500 and thats getting into $2000 and $3000 dollar price range!!!

Photography is like Surgery. No single instrument needs to be compared with one designed for a different purpose.
The Nikon is a superb superzoom tool. I will definitely add this to my "videographer toolkit."
If you really need all the other features provided by the best professional cams, then use those cams...and stop complaining. Surgeons don't complain that a scalpel doesn't work as well as forceps for a breech delivery.

The Sony is the overall better camera if one is looking for the 'Jack of all trades' bridge camera. If one is seriously looking for telephoto prowess and power, go with the Nikon P1000. Funny thing is, quality of images coming out of p900 is better than my APSC sized mirrorless DSLR Fuji X-t2 with usd 2000 dollars worth 100-400mm lens. And even funnier, images of p900 is sometimes better than my X-t2 connected to my 8" telescope! p900 costs usd 600 and is ultra compact. X-t2 with 100-400mm lens costs usd 3500 and is bulky. x-t2 with 8" telescope costs usd 4500 and weights 30kgs. • @johnspathopoulos1432
      @johnspathopoulos1432 Před 2 lety

For a fair test you should compare stills in all the focal range of the two cameras even if that means that after the 600mm you have to start cropping. I guess that till 600mm because of the bigger sensor Sony wins and from there till 3000mm the P1000 has better image quality. Because of the cropping. That is the big advantage for me of the P1000. It gives you so much freedom! Decent photos in the range that most cameras operates and much better in bigger focal lengths! The only restrictions it has is in dark places and night wildlife photography. But in every other sector it covers you very well.

I also own a Sony HX400V with a 24-1200 equivalent zoom, but that's no good at distances above maybe 25 m, no doubt due to the very small front lens element. Still, for nearby birds it's fine. And it cost a fraction of these cameras.

The grass looks much sharper with better image quality on the Nikon than the Sony. The image stabilizer is better on the Nikon for me as it is smoother. And of course, the Nikon has a much stronger Zoom lens.
So overall I pick the Nikon. But if you want a smaller zoom camera and better low light camera, then the Sony has a larger image sensor which gives you better low light image quality.
Anyone getting the Nikon P1000 will be getting it for its zoom capabilities and not its low light image quality. For low light, I would also own another camera, something like the Nikon Z6 mirrorless camera.

by "better" you mean bigger. all small sensor cameras, like the one you find in the p1000, will struggle in low light situations. the biggest selling point of the Nikon is the amount of range you get in a comparatively portable and inexpensive package (when compared to a dlsr w/ a bulky telephoto lens or the Sony which costs twice as much). so if you shoot mostly during daytime and looking for a relatively portable camera with unbeatable zoom, then P1000 is pretty much the only option today that will meet that requirement. for low light you'd want a true dslr (crop) with a decent lens or two, it will easily outperform the RX10. its 'range' vs an average 'do it all' cam comparison, really.

While not carry my main camera now I am using the portable zoom from panasonic ZS70. Obviously not a good range like either p900 or SX40HS but the quality is pretty good during the indoor shot at 24mm with the flash. Using it for Dragoncon.
