Entangled is the 17th main mission in Starfield.

Just a heads up to anyone stepping through this seems the degaussing steps can flip based on rng just follow the computer instructions and it works perfectly. Personally hated this quest. Nice quick guide to get me through it. Thanks.
I loved this quest. It had a very interesting story and game mechanics. The only other game I've seen do something like this is Metroid Prime 2 Echoes. I'm confused why the Director didn't know you can solve both.
I personally think the mission really overstays its welcome. I've done more than one playthrough now and I dread it every time.

I didnt think a mission like this was possible in this engine, that first shift blew my mind
I had Dishonored remarks and flashbacks during this mission, well bethesda was the publisher after all.
I would think it's quite simple in any engine. If the 2 "universes" exist in the same cell, it's just a easy matter of teleporting the player to the other zone in predetermined coordinates, and add a screen transition effect as it happens.
why, do you know how the engine works?
Lol I thought my game glitched I was like wtf
its not that difficult to do this in any engine lol, both levels are loaded at the same time, everytime you "shift" it teleports your character to that layout and vice versa.
One out of 5 video walkthroughs that actually kept a pace, not a race. Damn I am getting old. Much appreciated!
FYI… The switches to be degaussed in each reality are random. Mine were 1,2,4,7 in burnt reality and 3,6 in normal. As others have said, just use whatever numbers your lab computer says.

Even after following the steps and following the steps on my own computer it tells me to engage all the things when they’re already engaged there’s nothing I can do it won’t let me go any further I can’t do the frequency thing on the burnt reality sucks to be permanently stuck

Too many other people have a tendency to explain things (like this mission) in a way, where THEY already understand it but, can't explain it in an exact way for someone who doesn't and doing it for the first time. Again, well done!!
When do you get the artifact? Is it given to you after you complete the calibration or do you need to get it before you do all the degaussing?

Great walkthrough, the series of switches that you have to degauss is random e for both realities. Can be a different number of switches as well. I only had to do two in each. Just follow the computer prompts to know which ones you have to do for each reality. Otherwise, spot on with the guide! Thank you!
It just tells me all the power interlocks need to be engaged even though they are all engaged lmao
@@TheTacticalTuna okay you have probably already passed this, but the quest tracker is confusing because depending on which reality you are in it will track the specific objective to save one of the realities, this is a guide to save both realities so you have to disregard those and follow this guide. Following the quest tracker will finish the quest but will only save one of the realities.
@@TheTacticalTuna I also got confused at first, and then I saw in the video that he engaged and disengaged the switches. and the objective should still be to "disengage all power locks (0/7) and you should be able to set the frequencies after that.
how about the frequency are those ramdom too?
@@Spychopunk2077 that i do not know for sure. The frequencies that were in this video worked for me, so I am thinking they may be consistent. I did hear that the frequencies are on a little post-it note somewhere nearby the console, which makes me think it would be the same as they wouldn't generate a new post it note like they do numbers in the computer.
I came across this quest and have been going through it. I started wondering if everyone would live, then the director said that someone would probably not survive. That’s when I decided I needed to try to find a solution where everyone lives. I found this video and will follow it when I resume playing. Thanks, Gamepillar.

The first time I saved the Director because I didn't feel like sacrificing multiple people for 1 person, and didn't know there was a secret 3rd choice.. My second playthrough I made sure to saved everyone after I heard it was possible.
Me too, unfortunately I already turned off the entire power in the undamaged world and trying to turn them all on again was an absolute pain in the ass as you have no indicators anymore ... together with this mission being 15 minutes longer than it should have been this was really a bitch to complete

This was the perfect guide , I didn’t want anybody to die , also like others have pointed out your calibration numbers might be different so read the numbers before you activate!

I think this quest is fucking AWESOME. Yes, we've had alternate reality as a theme/idea for the longest time, but I don't think it was ever executed this well in any setting. Whoever came up with the idea for this quest and the people who made this quest a reality need a major raise.
Literally copied from titan fall 2 and still inferior
Dishonored 2 did it better

This was extremely helpful!! I really like to do as many "save everyone" options as I can and this was easy to follow, no bullshit or talking over it or obnoxious music- just 10/10!
I was so stuck in this last part. This is also the only mission where I died a few times. I found it scary as well. Even the robots freaked me out when they stomp toward you!
I completely panic when being rushed so i dumped 2 clips of grenades and half my shotgun shells clearing out those creepy scorpions, the infestation gave me beyond the aquila rift vibes
Glad I'm not the only one that got spooked in this particular mission.
@@BlueOvals24 have you seen tyranids? Bugs are no joke, especially when they can be the size of a dog and beyond! Id burn that whol facility to the ground twice over if it werent for games physics limitations and the important mcguffin piece i need thats causing shit.

@@hans-erik5001 i have no issues with dead space, thats just zombies, its just the bugs man, necromorphs will just turn you into biomass, but space bugs tend to lay eggs in your body or swarm you and tear you apart while making their hideous screeching, squelching clicky noises with their mandibles, and its amplified because theyre the size of a dog now. Meanwhile deadspace its just mutated corpses, ive seen plenty of those in other post apocalyptic games.

I hated this mission so much. It also felt like they really wanted to test your patience when you’re so close to the end of the main quest. But I appreciate your video a lot. Very straightforward guide with no clutter.
Just played through this quest and your guide helped me not make a choice that I didn't want to make! Also, without being too spoilery, the rewards for saving both realties are worth trying to get vs. picking one or the other reality to save.

Spent two hours flipping through every possible combination multiple times to realize that both realities have the same power numbers (20, 22, 24, 26) and that is probably why I probably bugged it. Bruh.
EDIT: AFTER WATCHING THE VIDEO I REALIZED THE SELECTIONS HAD THE WORLDS SMALLEST SCROLL WHEEL ON THE **LEFT* SIDE INDICATING MORE THAN 4 OPTIONS

Thank you for putting this up, with the recent updates you no longer have to have All panels pressed I only had to press two in each reality then was able to merge both into one with the same outcome as the original vid you posted. Same procedure just fewer panel presses

For some of you that are confused some of the degaussing steps are different depending on some factors, follow what the computer says about the degaussing and do the rest of the steps as this tutorials says to. It's pretty easy to figure out I was having a hell of a time keeping bullets and health to fight the security and the cataxi, you'll need master lock unlocked to be able to get onto some of the security systems to shut down the bots and turrets and stuff. I unfortunately didn't unlock that and you have to fight through a lot of it on the non burnt side if you don't have the master lock privileges. Excellent tutorial and thank you, allowed me to save everyone and get through a mission i've been stuck on for a month now.
yes, that Cataxi, Robots and Turret was painful to deal with, every attack stings Hard.
my Ammo was also drained, i'm already went back numerous time just for resupply
the place is like a Maze,
also in the middle of the Mission, they put side tunnel in not obvious way,
and put the Marker in the misleading spot,
resulted in massive waste of time, running around the place in circle.
Degaussing the whole thing took too much efforts after dealing with ton of Cataxi and Robots
i'm this close from letting Raphael to die,
especially after how much Credit i spent buying the Ammo and Medical supplies just to save this guy,
it leave me with only 100 credits in my pocket

Thanks for the walkthrough, other ones online are wrong. But I encountered a game breaking bug after doing both calibrations that froze the game. I did it again, and it worked. Just a heads up, save before you calibrate just in case!

Yooo this quest was Crazy!! Never felt my stomach drop then when the first shift happened. Bethesda definitely should have done more of this quest style or at bare minimum this mechanic

Oh wow, I totally missed Rafael's body but the computer instructions seemed kinda clear till the frequency bit. Tried a few things between both realities and kinda got lucky that it got stabilized. Loved this option especially since Kaia drops a hint of its possibility
