EDIT: Upgrading Sense Star Stuff to a B+ overall (S for stealth builds), the stealth community has spoken and I'm willing to upgrade SSS's status. I still think Void Form is the superior stealth skill but for anyone who doesn't like having to manually scan for enemies SSS is a solid pick, but it's still not even close as good as some of the other powers and that's why I can't justify putting it any higher.
What Starborn power do you think is best or worst? The video rankings are my personal opinion after hours of testing but I'm sure you'll have different opinions, which is totally cool, share your thoughts!
I've seen some great suggestions on additional use cases for powers and would love to hear more! I'm sure some more niche uses of powers would make them rank higher for more specific playstyles (SSS being a prime example).
Also great callout from a couple people on how precognition shows walking paths of NPCs. Definitely useful but easily outshined by many other powers.
Huge shoutout to @LXTROUBLE for timestamping while I was away, you rock!

Holy crap, I use Sense Star Stuff more often than anything else, including the oxygen one. You can see all your enemies, no matter where they're hiding. You can see them running around corners towards you.
It's especially useful in levels with all those critters that are below ground and pop out at you, because Sense Star Stuff will show them IN THE GROUND. Or those levels where there's swarm critters, you can just see them all massed behind the corner, and get your minigun ready.
To me, that power is S+++ at level 1. It's SO useful. I have it and Oxygen permanently hotkeyed.

    • @nikurou9025
      @nikurou9025 Před 10 měsíci +1

Yeah that would be a lot cooler if it was like Tracer's blink ability from overwatch, which lets you go in any direction. And maybe rather than getting longer dashes, you get more dashes that you can fire off consecutively.
So if you wanted to go straight still as if it were grav dash, you still can do so by chaining multiple blinks together, or you can blinkdash in circles around your enemy like Tracer while shooting them.
I'm sure modders will get to doing something similar one day

Its range is pretty far, lets you knock down a whole squad at once. Great for enclosed areas, hallways, or just any clumped up enemies. The shield is also really good for shotgun/melee builds as well. Really helps you get very close.

Void form can be pretty powerful for snack builds, especially paired with chameleon suit or helmet mod. This means that while one doesn't work when moving, the other does. Alternatively, when one wears off from doing an action, the other stays in effect so long as crouched and not moving. For this reason they pair well together.

I think there may be some heavy playstyle bias. The powers you liked least are all super useful for stealth plays.
Sense Star Stuff has been gone over in plenty of other responses, but I was just redoing Ryujin and again, I used it to get a sense of where the patrols were and were looking before opening doors/vents.
Precognition will show you their patrol path which is awesome in some of the cramped areas especially - and can let you know if someone intends to move at all - no one wants to wait for a spotter who has no intention of patrolling.
Which brings us to Gravity Wave - knocking items over away from you makes noise that enemies will go investigate. I used this when one stubbornly resisted Manipulation. Some of the other gravity spells register as attacks or call more attention to the cast. Anti-grav Field has the aggroing problem. Gravity Well can also sometimes work, but you need the NPC outside of its range or they stay on alert for way longer.

Very fair points! It's funny I just did the Ryujin stealth mission and just void form walked through everything. SSS is definitely awesome for stealth players but it's still not even close to as good as void form IMO, especially for stealth builds (you can shoot and not break VF too)

When I did my first playthrough, Barrett died before I got his power, but on ng+ I was able to find it in a temple AND do his quest so I got it to rank 2 in ng+ from 0. Not sure if it was luck or an exception, but just thought I'd point it out.

You can double dip off Parallel Self off every NG+. My other powers are only 7, but Parallel Self is 10. As long as you pick up his quest you get two of Parallel Self. Wish it was random, but oh well.

I wish we could utilize the quantum essence to either give us the increased regen or level up our abilities to level 10 if we’re already at New Game +10. Just seems like a missed opportunity

@@eddiedead2702 Yeah, I barely use my quantum essence, seems like a waste to have it as a consumable. It should give a permanent buff to either max energy or regen.

Great video... I have been using personal atmo, void form and star stuff way more regularly than I thought I would. I occasionally will see that I have a bunch of enemies grouped up behind a wall... then switch to antigrav and come around the corner with a shotgun and delete the whole group.
I think Bethesda did a great job with these... maybe a handful that seem redundant and a a handful that need a tweak or cost reduction.

With Gravity Wave I found it pretty useful for Starborne enemies you come across after temples, They do really high damage in a short burst. With gravity wave you can stun lock and kill them easily.

Amazing guide but you're not considering best use cases for some of these. Moon form for example, is absolutely incredible when you have multiple gear pieces that drastically increase your damage while standing still. Also, inner demon is incredible at any stage, simply to give you time to heal, reload, change out weapons, get higher ground etc. Phased time is absolutely insane... especially if you have a crit heavy character. You also didn't mention if there's a duration difference in alien reanimation. It's my favorite power right now while farming level 75 planets on very hard.

I THINK that precognition also shows you where enemies will walk next with the glimmer effect. So it also has its use for stealth/sneaking outside of dialogue. Then again there's Sense Star Stuff, which just shows you all the living things walking. And finally Void Form, which probably is the best, as you're indetectable really

I have a teramorph on my ship because i reanimated it and then it glitched through the door when i went into my ship. So S+++ skill for alien reanimation. The only downside is I can never edit my ship again because it disappears when I do.

My fav powers are Void Form, Grav Dash, Solar Flare, and Supernova for trash mobs, I sometimes use the other skills but those are my most used ones. I wish there was a separate favorite wheel for powers instead of having everything on one shared favorite hotkeys. But a lot of the other powers could use some buffs because most of them are just useless later game.

      Bethesda is terrible at scaling.
Oblivion where unarmed doesn't scale. Skyrim where unarmed doesn't scale. Starfield where unarmed doesn't scale.
      Skyrim where magic doesn't scale.
Starfield where certain weapon classes don't scale. The only laser heavy weapons are the mining laser and the arc welder. None of the tools have higher tier classes.
And when they do manage to scale anything, it usually gets overpowered, such as Skyrim smithing weapon improvements, resto loop, Starfield advanced tier weapons basically one shooting everything.

I'm on a brand new playthrough so I can't test this at the moment, but I'm pretty sure you can freely attack while maintaining void form, you can also transfer items from inventories as long as you enter the actual transfer screen/menu instead of looting while in the world and you'll keep void form as well. Basically you can run through a whole area sneak attacking and looting everyone, only being stopped by doors, and then once they're all dead you can come out to loot all the loose items.
One annoying thing is that if you have either a chameleon item or the 3rd rank of concealment you have to either be moving or not sneaking when you cast void form or it won't stick, it doesn't over-ride the chameleon effect.
