I’m not trans, but I have a hair story involving the stuff I watch too. When I was in fifth grade, I had a hair-plucking problem. It resulted in a bald spot that showed up that summer. I didn’t have a motivation, but the plucking probably taught that the scalp didn’t have as strong a grip on hair as I believed it did. So as part of healing that bald spot, I started growing out my hair. I didn’t worry about being bullied for it, but this was around the time of the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The longest Rupert and Daniel would have their hair for the entire rest of the movies. Season 2 of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. The bowl was never my thing but the Sprouses never returned to the season 1 hairstyle for the remainder of the first nor the whole of the second. There are probably plenty of other examples and they lasted at least into the early 2010s. It was assuring that it was socially acceptable, even fashionable to have long hair as a boy. And I am not a fashion-friendly person. Never got-shoulder length or anything but still. Got a lot of impressed comments about the hair though from teachers though.
