Saxophone was huge in the 50's and 60's. Then guitars became the big thing in the late 60's and 70's. The 80's brought the sax back. Hall and Oates met at Temple University In Philly. They originally were called The Temptones because They loved the Temptations.

The first Hall & Oates songs I heard, in the early '80s, were
How Does it Feel to be Back? and their cover of You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling. At the time, I didn't know that it was a cover, and I was amazed when I heard The Righteous Brothers singing it(lol).
Hall & Oates also did a cover of one of my favorite Christmas songs, Jingle Bell Rock. Still like that one, too.😊🎅🎄

There's one pop singer that was all over the radio in the 70's that reviewers don't give any love to, and some will not be happy that I've brought up Barry Manilow.
Mom's everywhere loved Barry Manilow with songs like Mandy, Can't Smile Without You, I Write the Songs, and Copacabana. I'm sure there's more.
Love him or Hate him... He was a big star in the music industry.
