One of the finest ballads to come out of the 80s,well,any decade, and so glad Chris recovered from his bout with Covid
This was the number one song in 1980. His debut album won the Grammy award for best album of the year. He also won the Grammy for best new artist. Yes Chris is truly something special, and his music is just beautiful and memorable. Great reaction...
Thank you đ
@@lizziethegangsterhippie9291 You are very welcome my dear. I know how much you love the string section in songs. I know you will love this song then...The Year Of The Cat." This song has every instrument show up. It was the song of the year, and is one of the top 500 songs in music history. Take a look and listen. You will be pleasantly surprised.
And the #2 song of the year was *Lookin' For Love* by Johnny Lee.
Christopher Cross was also an excellent guitar player, and that gets overlooked.
Absolutely!
I love seeing the young generation enjoy the masterpieces of the 80 welcome to the best years of our lives
Put this song on after a stressful day and feel the stress melt away

Absolutely beautiful!!
100 percent!!!
You should be keeping your eyes on the road!
Amen
This whole album is a masterpiece.
There are two songs on that album I don't care much for-- "Say You'll Be Mine" and "Never Be the Same"
@@kenrutherford1109 what????? Lol Never be the same might be the best song on the album beside sailing and minstrel gigolo
@@1hollow23 I was going to say the same about Say You'll Be mine, lol, but my fave with always be Ride Like The Wind
Yes, I concur... 'RIDE LIKE THE WIND' Christopher cross.
With Michael McDonald from the Doobie Brothers. Great song.
What I like best about Christopher Cross' voice is the control and restraint he's willing to use. He gives the perfect amount of volume and push with each syllable.
Just listening to this song takes you back to another time and place. From what I remember, it was the biggest song from 1980.
This concept of a young woman listening to famous songs for the first time and showing her reaction is monstrously creative. She is an incredible human being and this idea of hers is top shelf. Thank you. Very touching, even precious.
Thank you so much đ I canât take credit for starting the reaction video trend lol itâs been here for many years before my channel ever started but once I realized I can tie my love for music in my channel while connecting with people, I was hooked đ especially songs like these that I havenât heard before itâs an amazing experience! Iâm just glad I get to share it đ
âRide like the windâ...another classic!
"Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" and "Think of Laura" are my favorites
âThe canvas can do miracles. Just you wait and see....Believe in meâ.
What does that mean?
The wind in the sails!
@@HardKore5250 canvas are the sails.
They don't write them like this anymore. Watching you react to the music is a treat.
Thank you đđđŸ
This song is a masterpiece. Best wishes Christopher Cross. Sure glad he recovered from his bout with covid-19.
Had a friend in college who listened to this dong played while he sat alone in a darkened room. He is now a physician.
One of my alltime favorites. Just classic. The smooth intro.
One of the greatest songs of all time. Freshman year of high school. So surprised he didn't have a multiple decade career.
Now THIS is music!!! Come through with the oldies and goodies. I love it! Great reaction đđ
Thank you đđ
Such a timeless song. Immediate stress reliever. Evokes so many nostalgic images of my childhood and simpler times.
âSailingâ is one of the most beautiful songs ever. Itâs my favorite.
Your hair looks gorgeous
Thank you đđ
So many of the 70s artists seemed to be hooked into a higher power of being that began and ended in the 1970s. I still believe it had a lot to do with the end of the Vietnam war. As the decade of the 70s rolled on, the further it got from the nightmare of Vietnam the music became more laid back and poets with guitars like Christopher Cross were everywhere! The lyrics actually meant something again without making you mad or too sad. A lot of the disco songs were a part of that. The goal was to try to forget what we went through for so many years and be happy and have fun for the first time since the 50s.
Thank you President Nixon for stepping in to end JFK and LBJ's debacle.
This was a favorite of mine in college. Lying on the couch listening to it over and over, which meant I had to keep going to the record player and repositioning the needle to this song. It really made me want to go sailing. With someone special.
In 1980 this song won Grammy Awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Arrangement of the Year, and helped Cross win the Best New Artist award. VH1 named "Sailing" the most "softsational soft rock" song of all time. The song was recorded in 1979, utilizing the 3M Digital Recording System, making it one of the first digitally recorded songs to chart.
I was listening to this with my Bose headphones on in 1980 - pregnant with my first child - this was the day before my due date. Enjoying it, completely relaxed, suddenly I hear a pop & warm water starts running down my legs! ,y daughter was born four hours later - it was the most memorable experience ever. Thanks for the music, Chris C.đđ¶đŒ
I use to love this song, but it's probably been more than 25 years since I heard it last. Thank you.
This song takes me back 40 years.
Yes me too where has the time gone. I truly believe that we were blessed to have experienced those days đ€
Laying on the beach with a drink holding the one you love. Makes me sigh and relax....

Arthurs song.. that Dudley Moore/Liza Minellie movie..
Yes, âArthurâs Themeâ from the movie âArthurâ, with the classic line âwhen you get caught between the moon and New York Cityâ.
The original Arthur is one of the best comedies ever, 1980.
@@stevetanner3019 The song is also called "Best That You Can Do." That's the subtitle.
I think it's so important that new generations are discovering this amazing man ! Not just him but past music in general X :)
Chris wrote a song for a friend of his who died, called âLauraâ. Itâs worth a listen.
And they used it on General Hospital IIRC.
Wasn't this song in GENERAL HOSPITAL
The song is entitled "Think of Laura".
@@stevejuszczak9402 It was AFAIK
If that is the same one from that soap it is a very good song
Hey Lizzie, what's going on? What a wondrous song! Loved the song ever since I first heard it in 1979 (I was 19yrs. sssh don't tell anyone) That song from Christopher Cross First Album (Self Titled) won all kinds of Grammy Awards (Best Album, best song, best new artist and others I can't remember) The wonder and appreciation that I see in your facial expressions from you "New Generation" says it all about the fantastic music of the 70's and 80's I loved and cherished and still do! You take care and keep on keepin' on!!
Dude I was also nineteen and a college sophomore in 1979. This song was Fire.
The music today doesn't match up to the classics like this
Magically smooth.
We almost lost christopher to covid over the summer...hit him really hard. My understanding is that he is rehabbing the use of his extremities and hopefully on the road to a full recovery. He actually reached out to another reactor to thank him for all the nice things he had said about his songs...really cool thing to do. So Get Well Christopher...đ. Also, i really enjoy your reactions and beautiful smile.
Oh Iâm so glad heâs still with us and thank you so much đđ
One of my favorite songs ever so soothing ...Lizzie youâre awesome
And so beautiful đč
Thank you đ„șđ
She's Beautiful Lizzie wow
I remember this song. Memories of the fall of 1980. I like the music.
I love Christopher Cross and he has other great songs like "Ride Like the Wind," "Think of Laura," and also wrote an Oscar Winning Movie Theme for the Movie "Arthur."
Great artist with great music.
Those are good songs. The song from "Arthur" is entitled "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)"
I am mesmerized by this song and your eyes Lizzie!
This was the theme for my high school prom.
Thatâs beautiful
This was lovely to watch
Thank you đđđŸ
Still gives me goosebumps! đ
Your willingness to be touched by the music is everything in your reaction videos. Thanks for being Dreamy.
Thank you đđ
I still have not heard a better song that actually takes you on an emotional ride. The greatest song. It won song of the year when it came out.
Glad you enjoyed this one, but you need to check out âRide Like the Windâ đđŒ
I remember when he first started. I knew by his voice he was going to be great.
That's the right reaction. Speechless because of its beauty.
I remember the very first time I heard this song and I was taken from the first orchestral intro. It was and still is the perfect song. It played on top forty radio for a year.
I love watching people from your generation listen to music from ours for the first time. It's very emotional for me. You have no idea what you missed.
He steps up to the mic and nails it. Iâve heard so many people say; that sound is coming from him? His voice was perfect for this song.
Dang! I recall this jam playing on the airwaves in 1979 when I was in high school. âRide Like The Windâ was my all time favorite which featured Mike McDonald from the Doobie Brothers doing background singing.
You can get stuck in the 80s if you keep with the fire đ„đ„đ„
Your eyes are absolutely MEMORIZING!!!!
Love this. I was eighteen when this came out, and was stationed in Colorado for USAF Munitions Systems training. It brings back a lot of memories, as I bought the album and would often listen to it in my room in the Barracks at my first duty station ( TorrejĂłn AB near Madrid, Spain). So cool.
Thank you for your service đ
The very definition of 'classic'. Great song
One of my all- time faves because it sets my soul at ease.
I love so much when you're eyes light up, and you get emotional. Music for the soul.
1 of the most beautiful guitar pieces that's ever been played..
Definitely đ
@@lizziethegangsterhippie9291 IMO, "Think of Laura" has a beautiful guitar piece
I know a songstress when I see 1.Your reaction. You appreciate the vocal totally and know what is going on. The break down and explanation. You girl really know what you are talking about. Your talking voice is like I have said is soothing to the soul. Here in England đŽó §ó ąó „ó źó §ó ż we have an artist called Paloma Faith. Her talking voice is in a different universe to her singing voice. You just can't believe that it is the same Woman.
Thank you so much đ„șđđ I really appreciate that and Iâll check it out!
Would love to see your reaction to Barbara Streisand, Evergreen. One of the most beautiful love songs from the all time great female vocalist!!!
I'm happy to have grown up with all this music. I'm even happier to watch someone enjoy it that wasn't born before I was out of college and on my own. Enjoy yourself Lizzie. Careful when asking what to listen to, or you'll get some old guy like me sending you 500 suggestions...
Thank you đđ
He swept the Grammys in 1981 with this song and his album "Christopher Cross". He's gone on to make other hits in the 80's "Think of Laura" and "Arthur's Theme (The Best That You Can Do)"
He beat out Billy Joel, Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand for "Album of the Year". In 1982. "Arthur's Theme" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. czcams.com/video/-yqjGvbFeHI/video.html

âSailingâ has been one of my favorite songs for decades!
This is a good-un...great "hangover" song for a laid-back Sunday.
if you love this one .. you should check out ''arthur's theme '' by christopher cross
The song is subtitled "Best That You Can Do"
Your sensitivity to this song demonstrates your capacity for love is vast...
Thank you đđ
One of my favorite quotes from CC was "they say i have the perfect face for radio" Great voice.
Another great video. I always think of my sister when I hear this song, she loved this song and introduced it to me. Remember listening to it in the car on AM radio
Lay down, close my eyes & fade away to this song, I have had this song since it came out & still play it today đđđŹđ§xx
Just watched your Carpenters reaction from today and had to come back and watch this again. You're so much fun to watch because you let the music in. This song is gorgeous, but listening through headphones makes it overwhelming, what with all the layering of everything. There is no other song like this; Christopher Cross wrote something totally unique. Oh, and your hair is 10 out of 10 too. :)
Thank you so much đ„șđđ
Man this song takes me back. Such a good sounding tune.
Saw your short video on this. Came back to hear the whole thing and your sweet reaction. Thank you again for sharing this. Such a beautiful song and arrangementđ
You can see the blue skies and smell the water under the boat as you sail along with this perfect piece.I know you sailed with his vocals and sweet guitar
Arthurâs Theme is worth a listen.
I was 12 years old when this came out, and I remember it so well that summer. My cousins and I would stop whatever we were doing just to listen to this song on the radio. The nostalgia vibes are sooo strong with this one! I've watched some of your other videos, and this one is the one that made me subscribe. You've got one of the purest reactions to this song and all of the other music you've enjoyed. You're some kind of precious CZcams treasure, and I swear I feel the need to protect you at all costs! It's probably the overprotective dad in me coming out. Anyhow, I love what you do, and keep doing it!
Ah, the memories from way back in the day of 1980 when this song came out and I was an 18 years old university freshman dude. I used to hear it every day on the radio and especially on a particular afternoon in mid September as I looked out my dorm room window laying down on the bed on my stomach hands under my chin thinking and missing my parents and a little home sick trying to get used to college life. Ill never forget that day and afternoon, this song is a masterpiece and memory grabber, this song is me till the day I"m no more, I"m 60 years old now. Thank you so much for sharing, your reaction truly authentic and I love that. The instrumentals are out of this world. He also sang, "Never be the same", youll love it too. Listen to it if you can. love and peace everyone.
LOVE YOUR NEW AUDIO UPGRADES!!! You ARE a winner! This is how big businesses are built. Try and fail = learn = react= improve= learn more....during this time you are winning clients and you dont know it. People LOVE underdogs who fight for EXCELLENCE
Thank you so much đđ
Lizzie, girl I'm so glad you love the oldies like Chris Cross and Janis Ian, this was music back in the day. I love your reaction to this!!
Thank you đ„°đ
This song came of a huge album. I think he won five Grammy awards for the album.
You havenât felt real serenity until you have driven across the causeway listening to this song.
The great voice of MR Cristopher cross
I got to work at a venue and saw Chris live đđđđ after admiring and listening to this song for 30 years to hear the man perform and sing it live moved my heart as my dad used to play and sing this when I was a kid
This song was everything in 1980. #1 song #1 Album and Grammy winner. It was a real home run!
In addition to the music, you are so funny and entertaining, Liz. Oh yeah, and you're beautiful, too.
Thank you đđ
I was in a band that covered this around 1981, as well as "Ride Like the Wind". Christopher Cross was a wonderful songwriter and performer. He was the antithesis of "rock star" at 6 ft 5 inches, and being rather portly, but DANG he wrote great songs and had a wonderful voice!
I actually really like the song everytime it comes on the radio I listen to it. The only thing I remember was that I was shocked that the album "Sailing" was on actually beat out Pink Floyd's "The Wall" for album of the year at the Grammys! There were actually a couple fairly good songs on "The Wall", which is why I was shocked.
thanks Lizze for discovering this song đ«đ„
I remember being a kid in the early 80âs âŠhearing this song playing on the car radio âŠjust letting it flow through me as I looked-out the car window âșïž
I swear, this song , and âSouthern Crossâ by Crosby stills and Nash, are the two songs I would recommend anyone listen to who wonder swhat itâs like to sail on the ocean. I have been blessed to be able to sail from Gulfport, Mississippi and Gulf Shores, Alabama to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Belize. My God. ImagineâŠa nighttime quietness broken only by the sound of waves all around your, lying on your back, feeling the rock of the waves as you look up at a night sky that fills your vision endlessly and that is so full of stars you wonder how you could possibly have never seen this before. It is peace. It is tranquility. It is a calmness of mind and spirit that cannot be replicated by any other experience. It is a feeling of connection to everything and a feeling of individual wonder simultaneously. I honestly donât have the words to adequately describe an experience that you will never forget, that will change you, uplift your soul and make you one with the vastness of the night sky while reminding you that you are simply an observant, small, single consciousnessâŠif you ever have the chance, go. Do it. It will change you forever. And whatever stressors or worries you haveâŠthey will be made insignificant. For the rest of your life.
"All Right" by Christopher Cross has a lot of history with me... I was young(9), when Washington beat Miami 27-17 in the Super Bowl. "Inside the NFL", was a show on HBO at the time, and Len Dawson and Nick Butoconti(both former players) were on the show. Well, they did highlights from the previous weeks games, and in early 1983, it was highlights from that Super Bowl.... As the show ended for another season, they showed clips of John Riggins, running for a touchdown on 4th and 1, over and over... What a game... As the highlights showed, as the program ended, they played this Christopher Cross song. I have always remembered that in my head, since it happened. It must have meant something, if I cannot forget it.đâ€
Thatâs beautiful đđđ
The opening instrumental just brings you in and then the lyrics bring it all together!!!
Yessss
Check out Ride Like The Wind by him.

The choreography of the instruments is just beautifully put together.
A very relaxing piece of music to listen to.

Great reaction, Lizzie.! Hello from Canada! I'm an old guy but you had the rushes for this song as I did when I was a kid. It's very cool to see young people enjoy what we grew up with. I had this album. I heard your harmonies to Player.... nice!! God's Blessing to you!
One of my all-time favorites. â€ïž
It's my 2nd time watching, not trynna troll or anything; it just gives me real joy to see someone from a younger generation awaken to some truly marvelous music such as Christopher Cross, et. al. I would love for you to review a song that's a little out of the accepted norm. It's performed by two gay singers, who are actually truly talented, about a relationship. Nothing smutty or something along those lines. Just about a time in relationships that everyone goes through. It's really quite beautiful. Just let me know if you'd be open to listening to it. I'd love to suggest it.
And yea...those that don't like "Sailing"...they KRUSTY!!! LOL đ Tell 'em how it is.
I like watching you sway with a carefree smile as you're listening to the music. You really get it. I'm glad it brought you some joy.
I love you girl because you let the artist perform without interrupting for comments. I've had several artists tell me that they hate that their song is broken up for opinions. Save it till the end people!! In case you haven't noticed, I am a subscriber.â€
